He was a retired Kansas Highway Dept. employee.
Survivors include: wife, Mary Lou Pflughoeft, Ellsworth; son, Roy Pflughoeft, Sterling; son, Craig Pflughoeft, McPherson; daughter, Pamela Kaspar, Ellinwood; son, Kelly Pflughoeft, Salina; brother, Raymond Pflughoeft, Lyons; brother, Kenneth Pflughoeft, Ellsworth; sister, Trene Orsak, Colorado Springs; sister, Viola Richards, Ellsworth.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Parsons Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research.

Clayton Rump
McPherson, Kan. - Clayton Rump, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Saint Cloud, Fla.
Graveside services and burial of cremains will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the McPherson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Groveland Christian Church and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St.; McPherson, KS 67460.

Vivian Axel Johnson
FALUN -- Vivian Axel Johnson, 88, of Falun, died April 29, 2008, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
He was a cashier at the Falun State Bank and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Rush) of the home; his sons, Tim Johnson of Wichita and Tom Johnson of Lindsborg; his daughter, Mary Negus of Brookville; his brother, Earl W. of Wichita; his sister, Lois Quinton of Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Falun Lutheran Church. Inurnment at the Falun Cemetery will occur at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Falun Lutheran Church in care of Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

H. Bernice Duerksen
INMAN -- H. Bernice Duerksen, 87, of Inman, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Inman.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Duerksen and wife, Bobbie, of Indianapolis, Ind., Merle Duerksen and wife, Patricia, of Dacono, Colo., John Duerksen and wife, Sarita, of McPherson and Brian Duerksen of Pine Valley, Calif.; her brother, Gladwin Unrau and wife, Elaine, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elisabeth (Schroeder) Unrau; her brothers, Walter and D. Clarence Unrau; and sisters, Edna Schmidt and Sylvia Flaming.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, with the family present to receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Mennonite Church, McPherson. Interment will precede the memorial service at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery, Lehigh.
Memorials are suggested to the First Mennonite Church of McPherson or the Mennonite Central Committee in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson.

Ralph Rundquist
Salina - Ralph Rundquist, 83, Assaria banker and community leader, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Salina. Survivors include his wife, Rena of Assaria; three daughters, Ann Johnson and husband Wayne, Eve Boyle and husband Gregg, and Amy Rundquist and husband Max Holthaus, all of Salina; five grandchildren and a brother, Richard of Assaria. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, where family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Assaria Lutheran Church, Assaria. Private family burial was held prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Assaria Lutheran Church or Bethany College’s Music Department.

Helen Walker
McPherson, Kan. - Helen Walker, 88, died July 23, 2008.
She was a resident of The Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home.

Terry L. Doerksen
McPherson, Kan. - Terry L. Doerksen, 75, died July 28, 2008, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. Funeral arrangements are pending at Buhler Mortuary, Buhler.

Helen J. Thiessen
LEHIGH – Helen J. Thiessen, 94, of Lehigh, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
She was a farmer’s wife.
She is survived by her husband, Isaac F. Thiessen of Hillsboro; her son, Paul I. Thiessen of Wichita; her daughters, Joyce Kessler of Lehigh, Arlene Schale of Hillsboro, Carol Geabhart of Newton and Karen York of Kansas City; her sisters, Mary Thiessen of Hillsboro, Lydia McDonald of Tulsa, Okla., and Elma Warkentin of Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. A private family intermenty will follow.
Memorials are suggested to the Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, in care of Jost Funeral Home.

Henry G. Hahn
McPherson, Kan. - Henry G. Hahn, 104, of McPherson, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in Wichita. He was born Aug. 23, 1903, in Holyrood to William “Will” and Katherine (Galliardt) Hahn. He attended the Inman grade schools and graduated from Inman High School. He then attended and graduated from McPherson College, where he played football. He received his master’s degree in industrial arts from Pittsburg State University. He taught industrial arts and coached in the Marquette, Scandia and Ellsworth High Schools. In 1959, he came to McPherson High School, where he taught until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson, where he served on the property committee and volunteered many hours. On Oct. 15, 2007, he moved to Wichita. On July 24, 1929, he married Bernice (Engdahl) Hahn in McPherson. She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Lois Hahn Garrelts and husband, William E., of Wichita, Kan.; his grandson, Dr. James Garrelts and wife, Mary, of Wichita; his granddaughters, Susan Warren of Wichita and Kristen Rotramel and husband, Lieutenant Colonel Don, of Chester, Va.; his great-grandsons, Jeffrey Garrelts of Wichita, Scott Garrelts and wife, Emily, of Wichita, Jonathan Warren of Wichita and Ryan Rotramel of Chester, Va.; his great-granddaughters, Brittany Garrelts of Wichita, Jennifer Warren of Wichita and Danielle Rotramel of Chester, Va.; and one great-great-granddaughter on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and three sisters. The memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. Reverend Harry Grinstad will officiate the service. Private graveside services will precede the memorial service at McPherson Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson.

David L. Sawatzky
WINDOM - David L. Sawatzky, 51, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson.
He worked in construction for Deeds Homes in Little River and Turtle Top Van Conversions in McPherson. In 1987, he started working for Pyle Construction Co., where he was a Master Electrician until shortly before his death.
Survivors include: wife, Kathryn “Kathy” (Porzelius) Sawatzky of Windom; daughters Melissa G. Hodgson of Enid, Okla., and Tracy White of Geneseo; brothers Daniel “Dan” Sawatzky of Savage, Minn., Dwayne Sawatzky of Inman and Dwight Sawatzky of McPherson; mother Darlene Goering of Moundridge; and one granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the First Mennonite Church in McPherson, with Pastor Kathy Neufeld Dunn officiating.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Windom Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church of McPherson and can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.

Emma L. Thiessen
BUHLER – Emma L. Thiessen, 94, of Buhler, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Buhler Sunshine Home.
She is survived by her daughters, Annie Yoder of Yoder, Phyllis Pebley of Inman, Bonnie Danner of Buhler and Helen Lewis of Buhler; her son, Fred Navarro of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham D. “Abe” Thiessen; her brothers, Art and Ben; and her sisters, Sara Heidebrecht, Edna Unruh and Marie Bergen.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Buhler Mortuary, with the family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Interment will be in Buhler Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Kansas or SMRC Activity Department, in care of Buhler Mortuary.

Maxine Larson
McPherson, Kan. - Maxine Larson, 83, of McPherson, died Thursday, July 17, 2008. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband Johnnie A. Larson, McPherson. Other survivors include three sons, David Eric Larson, McPherson; Dale Allan Larson, McPherson; and Dennis Archer Larson, Mesa, Ariz. a brother, Richard Pfalzgraf, McPherson, a sister, Diana Heer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Archer and Esther Gertrude (Brooks) Pfalzgraf; sisters Grace Pfalzgraf, M. Lavon Ball and Katheryn Brown; brothers Harold A. and Charles A. Pfalzgraf. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Interment will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5, p.m., with family present from 3-5 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.

Gloria Schrag
McPherson, Kan. - Gloria Schrag, 72, died July 22, 2008.
She was a homemaker, Avon saleswoman and co-owner and broker for Smith Realty in McPherson.
Survivors include: husband, Harold R. Schrag, McPherson; daughter, Brenda Jansen, and husband, Richard H. II of Wichita; daughter, Diane Knight and husband, Chuck of Moundridge; sister, Wanita Schrag, and husband, Gerry, of Hesston; brother, John Stucky and wife, Marcia Pat, of Moundridge, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Garden Community Church in Moundridge. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the McPherson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, at the funeral home. The family will be present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials contributions may be made to Garden Community Church or Hospice Care of Kansas in McPherson. All contributions can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS, 67460.

Ethel Mae Baldwin
GREAT BEND – Ethel Mae Baldwin, 84, of Great Bend, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at The Cedars in McPherson.
She worked for Triangle Rexall Drug and Fuller Brush Cafeteria in Great Bend, as well as at Kit Road Ranger and Sharf’s Hallmark in McPherson.
She is survived by her sons, Jack Denney Baldwin of Windom and Richard Lee Baldwin of Topeka; her daughters, Jill Laverne Hoefer of McPherson and Ellen Gaye Ernst of Hutchinson; her sisters, Mary Seeley of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Helen Moos of Great Bend; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Hattie Denney; her husband, Vern Baldwin; her brothers, Vernon, Cecil, Fred and Dale Denney; and her sisters, Lula Michael and Eunice Lopeman.
A graveside service was held this morning at Great Bend Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.

Phyllis A. Regier
MOUNDRIGE - Phyllis A. Regier, 86, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at the Memorial Home, Moundridge.
She was a teacher for over 30 years in the Moundridge Elementary School system. Survivors include her husband John Warren Regier and a daughter, Kathy Regier, both of Moundridge. Memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m at the West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Moundridge Funeral Home, Moundridge. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Dyck Arboretum, Hesston, in care of the funeral home.

Mildred E. Bloomberg
Lindsborg, Kan. - Mildred E. Bloomberg, 95, died Feb. 6, 2009.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: daughter, Dixie Mattas of Lindsborg; a son, Steven Bloomberg of Bridgeport; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
Memorials may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, with family present.

George “Doug” Horne
HUTCHINSON - George “Doug” Horne, 75, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at his home.
He was born May 8, 1933, in Roanoke County, Va., to Erman Corbett and Anna Hale Horne.
He worked for Welborn Auto Supply, Roher’s Furniture and retired from Cessna/ Eaton.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: his wife, of the home; a brother, Donald R. Horne of Hutchinson; sister, Betty Hipple of Grafton, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Ivalee Horne of Hutchinson, and Jeannie Schultheiss of McPherson; a brother-in-law, Roy Regehr of Inman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Inman Mennonite Church with Pastor Harold Thieszen officiating.
Burial will take place at the North Inman Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be closed.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to Inman Mennonite Church of Donor’s Choice in care of Elliott Mortuary.
