Isaac W. 'Bill' Sexton
Isaac W. "Bill" Sexton, 86, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Legacy Park Nursing Home in Peabody. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Towanda Cemetery. Pastor Jim Rosendale of Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton will be presiding. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Peabody. Family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Towanda Cemetery.
Mr. Sexton was born May 22, 1917, in Mountain Home, Ark., the son of Henry Marshall and Florida (Weatherford) Sexton. He attended school in Severy.
On Aug. 11, 1939, he married Myrtle Agnes (Reed) Sauer at McPherson. She survives of Peabody.
He had been a security officer with Pinkerton Inc. of Wichita for 20 years until his retirement in 1980. He attended the Congregational Christian Church in Towanda. He was a member of the Sheriffs Association, and a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows. He also volunteered at the Salvation Army in Newton. He loved woodworking, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kay A. Sholders of Newton and Helen Ruth Kinsey of Maumelle, Ark.; and two sisters, Betty Farrow of Newton and Hazel Williams of Andover.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Virgil, Ronald and Clifford Sexton; a sister, Phyllis Lewis; and two infant siblings.
Memorials in his memory may be made to Legacy Park Nursing Home of Peabody and/or Central Homecare and Hospice of Newton.

John J. Guthrie
John J. Guthrie, 86, of Belle Plaine died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Riverview Manor in Oxford, Kan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. Military and Masonic committal rites will follow at the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.
He was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Cedar Vale, Kan., the son of William Henderson and Minnie M. Guthrie. He was reared and educated in Cedar Vale and Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School in 1936.
On May 19, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lucile M. Radcliff at the parsonage of the First Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made its first home in Leon, then lived in Burden from 1940-42. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 5, 1942 to Nov. 29, 1945, and was wounded in action in Italy.
After his discharge, the couple lived in Wellington for several years and moved to Belle Plaine in 1948. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation Highway Department as part of the road crew. He retired in 1982 after 43 years of service. Lucile preceded him in death on May 10, 1999 - nine days short of their 60th wedding anniversary.
A resident of Belle Plaine for 55 years, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Belle Plaine Masonic Lodge #173, the Eastern Star of Belle Plaine and American Legion Post #211 of Belle Plaine. He enjoyed attending Masonic and Eastern Star meetings.
He is survived by a sister, Lois Girod of Towanda; a sister-in-law, Helen Brazle of Winfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lee, William and Wayne Guthrie.
A memorial has been established in his name for the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Plaine. Contributions may be made through the church or Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Gracie H. Ingalls
Gracie H. Ingalls, 97, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 1, 1906, in Eureka Springs, Ark., the daughter of Samuel M. and Sarah Jane (Stanley) Johnson. She spent most of her life in this area and was a homemaker.
On March 1, 1925, she married Earl A. Ingalls in El Dorado. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1972.
Survivors include: son, Harold Marion Ingalls of Turon; grandson that was raised in the home, Richard E. Ingalls of El Dorado; granddaughter raised in the home, Helen V. Scrivener of Marietta, Okla.; and four other grandchildren, Doug Ingalls, Dianna Carrick, Tim Ingalls and Kathi Blanton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Earl Junior Ingalls; and five brothers and sisters.

Nagabhushanamma Nuvvuru
Nagabhushanamma Nuvvuru, 86, of El Dorado died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Wichita. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Carlson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the services.
She was born Oct. 12, 1917, at Nellore-AP, India, the daughter of Narayana and Seshamma Reddy. She had made her home in El Dorado with her daughter, Dr. S.V. Reddy, for the past 20-25 years. She was a homemaker.
She was married to N. Ramalinga Reddy, who preceded her in death.
Those who survive are two sons, Dr. N.C. Reddy of Dayton, Ohio and Dr. N.R. Reddy of DeKalb, Ill.; a daughter, Dr. S.V. Reddy of El Dorado; a sister, B. Krishnayenamma and seven grandchildren.

Cora L. Kehl
Cora L. Kehl, 83, retired Bentley School District food service worker, died Wednesday, Dec 31, 2003. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N. West St, Valley Center.
She was born March 19, 1920, in Valley Center, the daughter of Glen M. Walker and Florence Cora Nichols. She married James Lloyd Kehl in Valley Center on Aug. 11, 1967.
Survivors include: spouse, James Kehl of Valley Center; sons, Mac Phillips of Pearland, Texas, Sammy Phillips of McKinney, Texas and William Phillips of Wichita; daughters, Donna Flowers of Silsbee, Texas, Dixie Swindle of Valley Center, Dianna Carlson of Cassoday, Debra White of Wichita and Dana Arnold of Valley Center; sister, Winifred Shulley of Emporia; 28 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Dora J. Butler
Dora J. Butler, 70, of Scammon, formerly of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg. According to her wishes she has been taken for cremation and no services are planned at this time. Burial will be at a later date in the Park Cemetery in Columbus.
She was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Clearfield, Pa., the daughter of Issac Butler. She had moved to Scammon from El Dorado approximately two months ago. She had lived throughout the world her entire life.
She was a Certified Nurses Assistant and a homemaker.
Survivors include: daughters, Robin Harper of Scammon, Tracey Parks of Kansas City, Mo., and Mona Dillon of Warrensburg, Mo.; son, Arnold Ogden of Winfield; several sisters; one brother; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Opal Green Patton
Mary Opal Green Patton, 83, of Springfield, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, in St. John's Regional Health Center. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Rev. Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in Roper Cemetery, Morgan, Mo.
She was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Clarence and Lilly (Wrinkle) Green. She was raised in Laclede County.
Survivors include: her husband, Troy G. Patton; her children, Dale Lowery and wife Shirley, Ozark, Ala., Bonnie Duntz and husband Gene, El Dorado, Betty Sheets and husband Gary, Lebanon, Paul Letterman and wife Betty, El Dorado, Gene Letterman and wife Rose, Strafford, and Vicki Bossi and husband Bruce, Springfield, Mo.; two stepchildren, Terry Patton and wife Donna, Lyons, Colo., and Becky Spear, Springfield, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; her daughter, Kathryn Watson; and son Earnie Moore.

Clyde D. Baker
Clyde B. Baker, 94, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 10, 1909, at El Dorado, the son of Charles G. and Ellen B. (DeWar) Baker. He spent all of his life in this area and was a farmer and dairyman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Farm Bureau and had served on the Vanora School Board. He loved to go to livestock sales, collect caps and take in stray dogs.
On Feb. 22, 1930, he married Alberta Peffley here in El Dorado. She preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2003.
Survivors include: sons and their spouses, Bill and Marilyn Baker of El Dorado and Don and Carrol Baker of Towanda; daughters, Linda Kibler and her husband Mike of Valparaiso, Ind., and Mary Ellen Baker of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; four sisters; a grandson, Russell Baker; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Neufeld.

Freeman D. 'Irish' Hulse
Freeman D. "Irish" Hulse, 83, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at a local nursing home. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church.
He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Stockton, the son of Bert and Charlotte (Crane) Hulse. He moved to Midian with his family in 1927. He was in the last graduating class in 1939 from Midian High School. In 1941 he graduated from Butler County Junior College. He attended Michigan University and was there until World War II began. He served his country as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was united in marriage to Mercedes Erwin in Selma, Ala. He was formally the manager of the National Supply Company from 1945 until 1963. In 1963 he became the City Clerk of El Dorado and later worked for the Department of Public Works until his retirement in 1984. After retiring he worked at the Oaklawn Park Racetrack in Hot Springs, Ark., and had a great time. He loved to work on cars with his sons. He also enjoyed following all sports teams from Butler Community College, rarely missing a game.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post, the El Dorado Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, Butler Community College Alumni Association and Grizzly Booster Club.
Survivors include: wife, Mercedes, of the home; sons, F. Dwight and his wife Karen, David and his wife Sharon, all of El Dorado; four grandchildren, Eden Bloom, Heidi Hulse, Natalie Teague and her husband Ryan and Hannah Marie Hulse; and great-grandchildren, Braden Bloom and Georgia Teague.
Memorials have been established for the Butler Community College basketball team and Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Gary G. Norton
El Dorado, Kan. - Gary G. Norton, 62, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Lakepoint Nursing Center in El Dorado. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 12, 1946 in El Dorado. He spent most of his life here and Rosalia and served in the U.S. Army. He was a stocker at Sam’s Club in Wichita for eight years, retiring in 1994. Gary was a member of the Elks Club.
On Feb. 14, 1991 he was married to Paula Joann Crumrine in El Dorado.
Those he leaves include: his wife of the home; four brothers, David Wolf, Dallas Rains and Mike Norton, all of Wichita, and Fred Norton of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Eveda Norton and Brenda Rains, both of Wichita; step-father, William H. Rains of Ponca City, Okla.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father.

El Dorado, Kan. - Madison JoyceAnn Greenlee was stillborn on Tuesday, July 2, 2008 at 2:14 a.m. at Wesley Medical Center. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
John Carroll II
El Dorado, Kan. - John Carroll II passed away Jan. 21, 2009 in Kansas City, Mo., after a lengthy illness.
He was the New Year’s baby born in El Dorado on Jan. 4, 1966 and is survived by: his parents, Carolyn and Dean Heckendorn of Newton and John Carroll of Wichita; brother, Chris Carroll; and newphews, CJ and Caleb Carroll of Houston, Texas.
John is the nephew of Sarabeth Cook of El Dorado. He was preceded in death by a niece, Chelsea Carolyn Carroll.
John graduated from Newton High School and Kansas State University.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton and the Gaia Community Church in Kansas City. No services are planned at this time.

Warren Mack Allen
El Dorado, Kan. - Warren Mack Allen, 78, of El Dorado, has gone to his maker on this date Friday, Jan. 23, 2009.
Mack was born in Ogden, Kan., on Feb. 15, 1930. He attended Ogden Elementary from 1935 through 1943. He then attended Manhattan High School from 1943 through 1947. Mack attended Kansas State University (majoring in architecture) from 1947 until 1951.
Mack served in the military (Korean Conflict) from 1951 until 1953 and then returned to Kansas State University to get his B.S. degree in architecture in 1955, there upon coming to work for John Prigmore that same year. Mack became an associate in the firm in 1959 and then a full partner in 1963, selling out his partnership in 1992.
Mack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Blumbaugh) Allen; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Jilg and her husband Curtis of El Dorado and Mrs. Kim Lawrence and her husband David of Wichita; three grandchildren, Kirk Jilg and his wife Cynthia of Humble, Texas, Eric Lawrence of Washington, Mo., and Kari Jilg of Denver, Colo.; three great-grandsons, Zach, Nathan and Tyler of Humble, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law. Mack was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hope Lawrence, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Conard of Ogden.
Mack was still practicing architecture until his death (52+ years). He has been a 50-year Pin member of the Masons and a 55-year member with the American Legion and served on the Board of Directors of the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce. He also held memberships in the Elks, being named “Elk of the Year in 1964,” the Jaycees and was named “Outstanding Jaycee member in 1956.” Mack also served on many early boards and was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis for many years. Mack was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In 1960, Mack and Harlan Remsberg (then executive secretary of the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce) had a steak feed for the League of Municipalities. They started with concrete blocks, steel rods and hail screen in back of the 4-H Building, forming the group known as the Red Devil Chefs.
Donations in memory of Mack can be made to the Masonic Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and left with Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado, which is assisting the family with the arrangements.
A private service has been held for Mack.
Vera L. Colin
El Dorado, Kan. - Vera J. Colin, 71, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carlson FuneralHome. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 tonight, also at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral in Leon Cemetery.
She was born April 10, 1937 in Leon, the daughter of William L. and Merna L. (Finley) Kirkpatrick. She spent all her life in the area and drove the school bus in El Dorado for over 20 years. She had graduated from Leon High School. Vera was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Those she leaves are: her children, Robin and Bruce Winkle of El Dorado, Neal and Robin Ostrander of Augusta, and Kamala and (Tracy Burton) O’Donnell, Leon; a brother, Eugene Kirkpatrick of Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald Richard Einerson
El Dorado, Kan. - Donald Richard Einerson, 70, of El Dorado, died April 11, 2008. Services will be held April 16 in Watson, Minn., at the Lutheran Church.Surviving family include his companion and caregiver Mary Einerson of El Dorado; three sons, John, Tait and Micah; daughters, Missy Gillespie and Kari Einerson of El Dorado; brother, Jer; and eight grandchildren.
Leona L. Trollope-White
El Dorado, Kan. - Leona L. Trollope-White, 95, of El Dorado, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation in El Dorado. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Latham, Kansas Cemetery.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1912 at Latham, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Young) Harwick. Leona worked in the Oil Industry and on Feb. 14, 1941 she was married to James Everett Trollope and he died June 26, 1967. She later was married to Ernest Leroy White on Nov. 20, 1982 and he also preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1995. Leona was a loving Christian woman, loving mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.
Those she leaves are a son, Douglas Trollope of Spring, Texas; a daughter, Evertta K. Gurney of El Dorado; four grandchildren, Todd Plummer and wife Shelly, Grant Trollope and wife Tammy, Shawn Trollope and wife Stacey, and Joel Trollope and wife Alexis; three step-grandchildren, Lynda Queen and husband Gary, Larry Gurney and wife Annette, and Laura Walker and husband Steve; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leonard and Keith Harwick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for Southern Care Hospice and Park Avenue Baptist Church.
