Reta May Manning, 95 of Independence, MO formerly of the
Pittsburg/Frontenac area died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday February 16, 2010
at the Independence Manor Care Center, Independence, MO.
She was born February 21, 1914 in Polk County, MO the daughter of
Evert and Edna (Sheridan) Line. She lived in the Pittsburg/Frontenac
area from 1947 until 1990 moving to the Independence, MO area. As a
young child she attended many different elementary schools.
Reta married
Jack Manning on October 16, 1932 in Diamond, MO; he
preceded her in death on August 22, 1987.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include 2 daughters Christena Tunis and husband Frank of
Independence, MO, Leuvena Buche and husband George of Derby, KS;
5 Grandchildren-Richard, Randall and Roger Buche, Rhonda McNelly
and Rozanna Carter; 7 Great-grandchildren; 8 Step-great-grandchildren
and 4 Great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, 2 brothers -Monford and Elbert Line and a sister
Leone Johnston.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday February 20, 2010 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Burial will follow in the Garden of
Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until
service time on Saturday.

Mary Lou Mapes, 74 of Arma, KS died at 1:00 am Monday, February 15,
2010 at the Arma Care Center. She had been in failing health for a year.
She was born January 25, 1936 in Pittsburg, the daughter of Merle Pryor,
Sr. and Vida (Prince) Pryor. She attended area schools.
On July 11, 1955 she was united in Marriage to Harold Mapes in Lamar,
MO; he preceded her in death on June 23, 2005.
Mary Lou worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Clerk for many years;
she also worked for JC Penney’s as an inventory specialist.
She was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include a daughter Debbie Barone of Arma, one sister Jeanette
Cline of Arma, three brothers Ted and Merle Pryor both of Mulberry, KS
and Jim Pryor of Mindenmines, MO. She was also survived by two
grandchildren who were her pride and joy, granddaughter Kayla Spencer
and her husband James of Ottawa, KS, a grandson Corey Barone of
Arma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant sister
Jeanine Pryor.
Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg
from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Private
services and burial will take place at a later date in the Rosebank
Cemetery.

PITTSBURG — Michael F. Campbell, 57 of Pittsburg, KS died at 3:30 p.
m., Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center
in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born March 8, 1952 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Shelvy and Esther
(Sanders) Campbell. He graduated from Mission Bay High school in San
Diego, CA; he later attended Pittsburg State University.
On September 7, 1969 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Wessinger
in San Diego, she survives him of the home. Additional survivors include
daughters: Tiffany Joy Wade of Roeland Park, KS and Amy Kathryn
Brooksher of Weir, KS. and his beloved grandchildren Amanda Kathryn,
Joseph Michael, and Kaleb Michael. Also mother Esther of Pittsburg, KS,
brother Tom Campbell of Mesa, Ariz., and sisters Jerry Janssen of
Parsons, KS and Patsy Fornelli of LaCygne, KS.
Mike was recognized by the National Industries for the Blind the Peter J.
Salmon award for Employee of the Year and also the Wichita Industries
and Services for the Blind, Inc., John Eberhardt 1996 Employee of the
Year Award. He was also recognized by the 104th Congress, House of
Representatives for his outstanding service with WISB.
Mike was a past member of the Bone Creek Gun and Sports club.
Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home from 3 p.m. –
5 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2010.

FRONTENAC — Juanita M. Bavuso, 96 of Frontenac, KS died Thursday,
February 11, 2010 at her home.
Juanita was born June 10, 1913 in Yale, KS.
On October 8, 1930, in El Dorado Springs, MO she married
Carl J.
“Chuck” Bavuso. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1994.
Juanita was a homemaker. She belonged to the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Frontenac, KS.
Survivors include her granddaughter Lynne Kalen and husband Stephen
of Olathe, KS and grandson Michael Bavuso of Tulsa, OK; along with six
great-grandchildren Amanda Kalen, Amber Bavuso, Michelle Kalen,
Alisha Bavuso, Ashley Bavuso and Parker Kalen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Charles R. “Chuck”
Bavuso, two grandchildren and sister Elizabeth “Lizzie” Clark.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, February 15, 2010 at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Spencer as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Garden of MemoriesCemeteryin rural Pittsburg,
KS. Friends are requested to meet at the church on Monday.

PITTSBURG — Phyllis J. Allen 92, of Pittsburg, KS died 6:55 a.m.
Thursday February 11, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center
following a short illness.
Phyllis was born December 23, 1917 in Durant, OK the daughter of
Arthur and Mary (Daniaux) Pinsart. She was a lifelong resident of
Pittsburg and a graduate Pittsburg High School in 1936.
On October 23, 1938 she married
Melvin W. Allen in Carthage, MO; he
preceded her in death on October 30, 2004. Phyllis was a homemaker
all her life.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church,
Tuesday Morning Prayer Group, the Alter Society, Prayer Line, the Red
Hats and the Widows Club at the church. She also enjoyed her friends
the “Dirty Blondes” and all the good times they had together. She will
most be remembered as the greatest mom ever.
Survivors include her children Gary Allen and wife Terry of Pittsburg, KS,
Carol Gorenc and husband Ron of Pittsburg, KS; daughter in-law Doreen
Allen of Renton, WA; brother Art Pinsart and wife Alice of Grove, OK: 9
grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Steve Allen
and sister Josephine Wilbert Keegan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday February 16, 2010 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with Fr. Thomas
Stroot as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories
Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday
February 15, 2010 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS
where the family will receive friends immediately following until 8 p.m.
Friends may call the funeral home after 11 a.m. on Monday. In lieu of
flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of

Cloyd L. Ray Sr. 59, of Columbus, KS died 10:22pm Sunday February 7,
2010 at his home following a short illness.
Cloyd was born July 29, 19 50 in Guthrie, OK the son of Edgar Wilson
and Ruby Lee (LaRue) Ray. He moved to this area in 1959 from
Compton, AR. After graduating from Riverton High School in 1968 he
married Evelyn Kay Spigelmyer on December 22, 19 68 in Columbus, KS
. He was a truck driver most of his life and worked for several years as a
machinist at Missouri Steele in Joplin, MO. He also worked as an EMT
for years with the Cherokee County Ambulance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John Leon Ray.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Kay (Spigelmyer) Ray, sons Cloyd Jr.
and wife Dayna, Brian and wife Melanie, Michael Ray all of Columbus;
daughter Teresa (Ray) Kloer also of Columbus; sister Donna Ray of
Columbus; brothers Edgar (Wayne) Ray and wife Linda, Donald Ray and
wife Galenda all of Riverton; grandchildren Chance Ray, Dylan Martin,
Dakota Ray, Levi Ray, Gracie Ray, Candace Kelley, Elizabeth Kloer,
Jonathan Kloer, Alexandria Kloer, Kevin Kloer and Karly Kloer; also
several nieces and nephews. Cloyd also loved to coyote hunt, fish, play
cards and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 1pm Thursday February 11, 2010 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Nichols officiating.
Casket bearers for the service will be Cloyd Ray Jr., Michael Ray, Brian
Ray, Jonathan Kloer, Tim Kellogg, Jason Hill, Joey Allen, Rodney Barton
and Christopher Baird. Burial will follow at the ParkCemeteryin
Columbus, KS. Family will receive friends from 6-7pm Wednesday
February 10, 2010 at the funeral home. Friends may call after 2pm on
Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be
