Betty Jean Eagan, 78 of Mindenmines, MO died at 7:15 pm,
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center
in Pittsburg, KS.
Betty was born August 6, 1931 in Pittsburg, KS to Cleo Leroy and
Emma Amelia (Dillow) Butler. She attended schools both in Hiwassie,
Ark. and Pittsburg, KS.
On December 16, 1948, in Girard, KS, she married
Wilfred Clyde
Eagan. He survives of the home. Betty lived in Oklahoma, Oregon and
Washington State then in 1969 they returned to Pittsburg, KS then to
Peabody, KS and last Mindenmines, MO
Betty worked as a nurses’ aide in many different nursing facilities
including the Old Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg and Sunset Manor
Nursing Home in Frontenac.
Additional survivors include her son Edward L. Eagan of the home;
daughters Darlene Nesson and husband Gene of Mindenmines, MO,
Debbie Fogel and husband Jody of Webb City, MO, Patricia Graham of
Muskogee, OK, Donna Gallagher and husband Col. Peter of
Washington, DC and Jauquita (Jo) Robarts and husband Marvin of
Franklin, KS; son-in-law Mark Graham of Mansfield, TX; brother Jack
Butler and wife Maxine of Sheldon, MO, 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great-
grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sisters
Lorene Bulter and Jauquita (Jo) Cussimanio, brother-in-law Louis
Cussimanio and sister-in-law Betty Hudson.
Graveside services will be 2 pm, Monday, October 5, 2009 at the
Garden of MemoriesCemeteryin Pittsburg with Reverend Dan Moss
officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg where the
procession to thecemeterywill leave the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.

Marilyn Sue Fortin, 61 of Mulberry, KS died Wednesday September 30,
2009 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO.
She was born January 19, 1949 in Wichita, KS the daughter if Everett
and Kathleen ( Griffith ) Mayfield. She had lived the past 20 years in
Mulberry, moving from Lafayette, CO. She was a 1967 graduate of
Wichita North High School.
Marilyn married
Jim Fortin; they were later divorced.
She worked for the Pittsburg Morning Sun. She was a member of the
All Faith Church in Mulberry, KS. She enjoyed reading and attending the
activities of her grandchildren, she also enjoyed racing.
Survivors include a daughter Regina Dunham of Arma, KS; a sister
Myrna Cullum of Wilburton, OK, a brother John Matson of Wichita and 2
granddaughters Chaylene Fortin and Lacey Dunham. She was
preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday October 6, 2009 at the All
Faith Church in Mulberry with Pastor Bill Wells officiating. Burial will
follow in the RosebankCemeteryin Mulberry. The family will receive
friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in
Pittsburg where friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday. There will be
luncheon following the graveside rites at the Mulberry Civic Center.

PITTSBURG — William (Bill) Eugene Gardner 82, of Pittsburg, KS died 5:
58 p.m. Tuesday September 29, 2009 at Golden Living Center following
a short illness.
Bill was born January 16, 1927 in Barton County, MO to William Owen
and Mildred Opal (Perkins) Gardner. Bill attended and graduated from
Lamar, MO schools. He was a veteran of WWII and was part of
Occupation Forces in Japan after WWII.
On January 30, 1955 he married
Joetta Fay Lathrom in Gainesville, TX;
she survives at the home. Bill was a Truck Driver and worked for the
Weir Brick Plant for a total of 46 years. He retired from Acme Brick in
1992 with over 2.5 million miles driven without an accident or liability
claim.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Ft. Scott, KS.
He also was a member of the American Legion, VFW of Nevada, MO,
drove for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Bill Mack Million Mile
Club.
Survivors include his wife, children Eugene Michael (Mike) Gardner,
Oklahoma City, OK and Valorie of Pittsburg, KS, Steven Owen Gardner
and wife Lori of Pittsburg, KS; brother Darrell Gardner of Golden City,
MO; grandchildren Joshua Steven, Hayden Hope and Addison Grace
Gardner; great-grandchildren Dawson Riley and Emma Sue Gardner.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Jean Gardner, sister Ella
Jean Hickman and step-brother Cecil Wallace.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday October 2, 2009 at Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow at
Garden of MemoriesCemeteryin Pittsburg, KS. Military Rites will be
conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m.

PITTSBURG — James (Jim) S. Watson, 87 of Pittsburg formerly of
Tonganoxie, KS died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday September 29, 2009 at the
Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.
He was born July 4, 1922 in Mulberry, KS the son of Harry and Jessie
(Massey) Watson. Jim lived in Tonganoxie for 49 years moving to
Pittsburg in 1997. He was a graduate of Paola High School and attended
Iola Junior College.
Jim was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Army
from 1942 until 1946. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Sgt.
He married
Jean Kramer on October 19, 1946 in Tonganoxie, KS; she
preceded him in death on February 25, 1997.
Jim worked for Leavenworth-Jefferson Electric Coop in McLouth, KS for
27 years and was manager for 24 years. He then worked for First State
Bank & Trust in Tonganoxie for 14 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tonganoxie since
1952, the Tonganoxie VFW Memorial Post #9271, the Tonganoxie
Masonic Lodge; the Tonganoxie Historical Society, the Chicopee
Foundation and the Mt. Carmel Foundation.
Survivors include 2 daughters Sally Naylor and husband Joe of Pittsburg,
Nancy Dudek and husband Steve of Kansas City, KS; a brother Don
Watson and wife Joan of Tecumseh, KS; 5 Grandchildren-Chris Wyrick
and wife Patty, Clint Wyrick, Jill Parsons and husband Brett, Ashley Long
and husband Nick, Jamie Naylor and 2 Great-grandchildren Levi and
Case Wyrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jean
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday October 3, 2009 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Reverend Verl Strong and
Reverend Daryl Gaddy officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the
Hubbel HillCemeteryin Tonganoxie where the Tonganoxie VFW
Memorial Post # 9271 will provide full military honors. The family will

Wanda D. Redd 82, of Pittsburg, KS died 11:32pm Wednesday
September 16, 2009 at Cornerstone Village following a long illness.
Wanda was born November 26, 1926 in Barton County, Missouri to
Ralph Enis Lea and Lida Lucille Holt. She attended area schools in
Liberal, MO and later Pittsburg, KS.
On February 3, 1945 she married
Elmer Redd in Girard, KS ; he
preceded her in death on March 8, 1997. Wanda worked most of her
life as a homemaker and later at the Holiday Inn and Hull and Dillon
during WWII.
Wanda was a member of the South Broadway Baptist Church. She
belonged to AARP, enjoyed driving the Jolley Trolley and delivering
Meals On Wheels. Her greatest joys in life were her family and playing
the piano.
Survivors include children David Redd and wife Rita of Lufkin, TX, Danny
Redd and wife Mary of Frontenac, KS, Ralph Redd and wife Debbie of
Pittsburg, KS, Don Redd and wife Jackie of Pittsburg, KS and Connie
Anderson and husband Tim of Frontenac, KS; siblings Carol Briggs of
Alton, MO, Richard Lea of Mindenmines, MO, Thelma Barton of Alton,
MO, Catherine Stevens of Mindenmines, MO, and Debbie Williams of
Alton, MO; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren
and 2 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Billy Redd and
2 grandchildren Laura Nichols and David Lynn Redd.
Funeral Services will be 10am Monday September 21, 2009 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating.
Burial will follow at the CrockerCemeteryin Pittsburg, KS. Family will
receive friends from 4-5pm Sunday September 20, 2009 at the Bath-
