Joyce E. Allmon, 61 of Pittsburg, KS died at 12:10pm, Monday,
September 7, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg,
KS.
Joyce was born June 1, 1948 in Pittsburg, KS to Clinton Allmon and
Dorothy Dorsey. She attended area schools, graduating from Pittsburg
High School. She went on to attend and graduate from PSU with a
degree in Sociology.
Joyce worked at Crawford County Mental Health for 21 years. She was
currently employed through Skil of Pittsburg, where she worked for the
past year and half.
Joyce volunteered for the American Red Cross Disaster Team since
2000. She also volunteered at the Wesley House.
Survivors include her sons Johnny Berger and wife Dawn of Girard, KS
and Cordell Berger of Pittsburg, KS; daughters Jewell Burns and
husband Ricky of Pittsburg and Crystal Johnson and husband Kelvin of
Parsons, KS; Brothers Clifford Allmon of Pittsburg; Raymond Allmon and
wife Vera of St. Louis, MO; Ricky Allmon and wife Essie of San Antonio,
TX; Mansfield Allmon and wife Samella of Ferguson, MO; David Allmon of
Chicago, IL; Rock Henry Allmon of Hutchison, KS and Christopher Allmon
of St. Louis, MO; sisters Irene Cavitte and husband Lloyd of Pittsburg
and Cecelia Mayberry and husband Edward of Hutchinson, KS; along
with 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many other
extended family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, son Clayton Lee Allmon;
brother Dalton Allmon and sister Lydia James.
Graveside services will be 11:00am, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at
Mt. OliveCemeteryin Pittsburg with Elder Walter Simpson officiating.
Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. The casket
will remain closed.

SCAMMON — Lisa Ann Donaldson 43, of Scammon, KS died August 31,
2009 at her home following a sudden illness.
Lisa was born January 15, 1966 in Columbus, Kansas to Frieda Prudlick
(McKee). She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area
schools in Columbus. On August 13, 1983 she married
Don William
Donaldson in Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on April 1,
1989. Lisa worked as an office manager for Jay Hatfield Chevrolet in
Columbus, KS and most recently Frank Fletcher Auto Group in Joplin,
MO.
Lisa was of the Christian Faith. She was most known for her devoted
love of her family and her dedication to her work.
Survivors include children Danyelle Donaldson of Pittsburg, KS,
Dominique Gray and husband Tony of McCune, KS, D.J. Donaldson and
wife Kayla of Ft. Bragg, NC; mother and father in-law Carol and George
Donaldson of Scammon, KS; mother Frieda Prudlick of Watts, OK;
siblings Penny Collier and husband Barry of Neosho, MO, Debbie Denny
and husband David of Colcord, OK and Mike Montee of Ft. Lauderdale,
FL; grandchildren A.J. “Pookie” Gray, Don “Bubba J.” William Donaldson
and Dylan “Doodle Bug” Joe Donaldson.
She was preceded in death by children Dona and Deneace Donaldson,
and her husband.
Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday September 8, 2009 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with Jamie Tickel officiating.
Private Burial will be at ParkCemeteryin Columbus, KS at a later date.

CHICOPEE — Roy “Max” Ball, 75 of Chicopee, KS, died at 1 am Monday,
August 31, 2009 at the St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 16, 1934 in Oklahoma City, OK the son of Lee David
and Lenna Desta (Boyer) Ball.
He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1950 and was honorably
discharged in November 1957.
On June 16, 1961 he was united in marriage to Patricia A. Titmus at St.
Barbara’s Catholic Church in Chicopee, KS; she survives him of the
home.
Max was a Union Ironworker for many years. He was a member of Our
Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 64 of
Pittsburg.
Additional survivors include two daughters: Kimberly and Todd Mosburg
and Kathleen and Michael L. Rakestraw all of Pittsburg; three
grandchildren: Ryan Mosburg, Courtney Rakestraw and Sydney
Rakestraw all of Pittsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, September 4th, 2009 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Stroot as
Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. Family will
receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home where the
rosary will be recited at 7:15 pm. The Ft. Riley Funeral Detail Team will
provide Military Rites at the graveside.
Memorials may be left as mass stipends; these may be

ARMA — Eugene M. “Gene” Woods, 66, of Arma, KS, formerly of Weir,
KS died, with family and friends surrounding him, at 11 a.m., Friday,
August 28, 2009 at his home from Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Gene was born September 17, 1942 in Baxter Springs, KS to James
Walter and Mildred M. (Pierce) Woods. He attended area schools later
getting his GED.
Gene married
Terri. They later divorced. He then married
Shirley
Johnson. She preceded him in death. He later married
Alice J. Hatfield,
on September 18, 1998 in Miami, OK. She survives in Arma.
Gene lived in Nashville, TN for ten years, before returning to Weir, KS.
Gene was a professional musician playing the guitar for many years. He
belonged to the band Gene and the Night Lighters, playing locally at the
Down Home County Theatre in Cherokee, KS for 2 years. He cut a
record with Jack Green. He played with the Rockabilly Hall of Fame
Connie Conrad and the Bellhops in 1950’s. He played with the great
Chet Adkins and Jimmie Dickens. He played for the Salvation Army
during Christmas time at Wal-Mart stores.
In between playing the guitar Gene worked for the Kansas City Southern
Railroad as a brakeman. He also worked for Ron’s IGA supermarket in
Pittsburg, KS.

Gina Busby and husband Monty of Girard, KS; son Jeff Woods and wife
Patricia of Pittsburg, KS; step-daughters Diane Michael and husband Tim
of Arma, KS and Tammy Jett and husband Joey of Orange Park, FL;
special friend and care giver Grover Stowe of Arma; 9 grandchildren 2
great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-
grandchildren; brothers Jay Woods and wife Maria of Michigan, Jack
Woods and wife Freda of Delaware, Harold “Butch Woods and wife Rita
of Pittsburg, KS and Steven Woods and wife Kim of Pittsburg; sisters
Maybelle Nelson of FL, Wanda Hensley of Pittsburg, Arnola Phillips of La
Cygne, KS, Margaret Woods of Pittsburg, Brenda Monahon and husband
Ron of Pittsburg and Becky Rantz and husband Riley of Pittsburg; along
with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gladys Jo Jones and
grandson Jason Woods.
Memorial services will 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg with Chaplain Wayne Mason officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Crocker Cemetery. The family will
receive friends after the memorial service on Thursday.

William D. “Bill” Snow, 51 of Shawnee KS, formerly of Pittsburg, KS died
Sunday, August 23, 2009 at University of Kansas Medical Center in
Kansas City, Kansas.
Bill was born November 27, 1957 in Pittsburg, KS to William F. and
Goldia M. (Purdy) Snow. He attended area schools, graduating from high
school with the class of 1975. He went on to attend and graduate from
PSU Vo-Tech program.
On June 13, 1981, in Pittsburg, KS, he married
Val Tierney. She
survives of the home.
Bill worked as a draftsman / cad designer for Marley Cooling Tower Co,
known today as SPX. He has worked there since 1977.
Bill loved sports, fishing and golf. He was an avid KC Chiefs and KC
Royals fan. In early years he was active coaching and watching his girls’
softball games. His family has always been very important to him.
Additional survivors include his daughters Amanda Snow of Overland
Park, KS and Ashley Snow of Pittsburg, KS; sisters Karen Garrison of
Tulsa, OK and Debra Yocum of Frontenac, KS and father William F. and
his wife Betty Snow of Carl Junction, MO, along with a host of nieces and
nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be 10:30am, Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home with Fr. Thomas Stroot officiating. Burial will follow
in Highland ParkCemeteryin Pittsburg, KS. The family will receive friends
from 6-8pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. The casket will remain
closed. Friends may call the funeral home after 4pm on Wednesday.
