Maxine Pulver
Augusta, Kan. - Maxine Pulver, 91, homemaker of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8th, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church, Augusta. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
Maxine was born in Rocksberry, Kan. on Nov. 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Howard Lincoln and Bessie Elizabeth (Wining) Webster. On July 23, 1964 she married Joe Pulver and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Eugene Cagle; two brothers, Gerald J. Webster and William W. Webster; three sisters, Madelyn Webster, Margie Eichenberger, and Geraldine King; and one granddaughter, Heidi Cagle. .
She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Kathy Cagle of Augusta; sister, Pauline Johnston of Augusta; grandchildren, Michael Patrick Cagle, Karen Jean Cagle, Bonnie Kathleen Cagle, Thomas Guy Cagle, Stacy Harris, Dallas Matthews, Bethany Starks, Melody Buethe, Tami Usher and Toni Usher; eight great-grandchildren and one great- grandchild on the way.
Memorials to the American Heart Association or Christ Lutheran Church.
Maxine's desire was to be cremated at her passing and her last thought to her son, Rex, was, "May God bless you and make sure I have passed on before you light me on fire."

Council Grove - Rodney Howard Hollis, 62, Council Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. , Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, all at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Council Grove. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Council Grove.
Rodney taught American Government and History at Augusta High School, 1970-73, and more currently was an elementary school counselor in USD 417 Council Grove and served as student advisor for Butler Community College-Council Grove.
Survivors include: wife, Jerre of the home; son, Todd, his wife Penny Hollis, and their two children Katie and Jackson of Augusta; and daughter Cari Hollis, her fiancé Doug Eichholz, and three children Ryan, Nataly, and Chase of Topeka.

Eleanor Brooks
Augusta, Kan. - Eleanor Louise Brooks, 87, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East, Wichita. Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 3, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow at Wichita Park Cemetery.
Eleanor, known as “Ellie” to her many friends was born to Edward Winfield Frey and Clara Golden Cannefax on Jan. 6, 1921 in Scammon, Kans. She graduated from Valley Center High School and attended Business Preparatory School at Wichita University. On March 28, 1942, Ellie married Eugene A. “Gene” Brooks with whom she shared 61 wonderful years and raised two sons. Ellie was a devoted mother and wife, a superb homemaker, a volunteer to many organizations including the Ladies Board of HCA Wesley Medical Center, various ladies groups at Eastminster Church, the Wichita Boys Civic Choir, and a member in good standing of the Wichita PEO Chapter I. Her life revolved around her family, her friends and her love of playing cards, especially bridge. She especially loved spending time with her four grandsons and snapping photo’s to share with all her friends. In August 2001, Ellie realized one of her life’s desires when twin great-granddaughters entered the family. We will miss our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as she took such good care of all of us. She taught us so many things about life, love and the importance of family. We now take joy in knowing she is finally reunited with Gene in heaven.
Survivors: sons, Dr. Randy Brooks of Overland Park and Dr. Scott and wife, Vicki Brooks of Wichita; grandsons, Tyler and wife, Lisa Brooks of Wichita, Zachary Brooks of Overland Park, Aaron and wife, Molly Brooks of Los Angeles, Calif., and Douglas Brooks of Overland Park; twin great-granddaughters, Libby and Lauren Brooks of Wichita; sister, Eileen and husband, Charles Cody of Ardmore, Okla.; several nieces, nephews and friends.

David K. Carey
Augusta, Kan. - David Keith Carey, age 53, a pilot for J-W Operating Company, Wray, Colo., son of Harry and Betty Carey of Augusta, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009.
David graduated from Augusta High School in 1973, where he participated in football and wrestling.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Jan. 19, at the First Christian Church in Wray, Colo.,
Other survivors include: his wife,, Sue; daughters, Cheyanne (David) Hinkle, Jennifer (Ivan) Leck, Terri (Chris) Blecha, Amy Sullivan, Renee (TyRell) Odell, and Jessica; siblings, Connie Self, Karen and Chester Hufman, Betty Jo and Harry Wheat, Jim and Theresa Carey, all of Augusta, Annamae Carey of Columbia, La, Mike and Deb Carey of Thornton, Colo., and Sharon and Doug Corder of Alva, Okla; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Augusta, Kan. - Michael A. Gallardo, 43, Haysville, former Apex and Boeing employee, formerly of Augusta, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009.
Viewing at 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. rosary on Thursday, March 19, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Mass at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Michael was born in Wichita on March 6, 1966; the son of Helen (Cabrales) and Henry Gallardo, Jr. He was a 1984 graduate of Augusta High School.
He is survived by: his father, Henry Gallardo, Jr. of Wichita; brother, Tony Gallardo of Chicago, Il.; children, Michaela, Kelsi, and Kai Gallardo of Augusta; companion, April Gallardo and very special friend, Dawnette Ahmad.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Helen Gallardo; grandparents, Enrique and Josefina Gallardo, and Manuel and Carmen Cabrales.

Augusta, Kan. - Jane (Taylor) Richardson, 80, Augusta, registered nurse, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the First United Methodist Church, Augusta.
Jane was born to Millard Victor and Ella May (York) Taylor on Sept. 1, 1927 in Junction City. She married Warren Earl Richardson on Sept. 16, 1950 in Enterprise. Jane was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, P.E.O., TOPS, Library Brown Baggers, Republican Women, Outlook Club, played in the church bell choir, and served on the Augusta Housing Authority Board. She volunteered at Robinson Elementary, Meals on Wheels, the Bloodmobile and longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Survivors: daughter, Linda (Jerry) Marcis, of San Ramon, Calif; granddaughters, Kristen Marcis of Dallas, Texas, Kaley Marcis of San Ramon.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lee Richardson; and brother, York Taylor.

Hazel L. Kinsley
Augusta, Kan. - Hazel L. Kinsley, 94, of Augusta, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, Jan.14, 2008.

Her service will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan.18, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Augusta. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Hazel was born in Pulaski County, Mo. on May 17, 1913; the daughter of the late John Anderson and Ida Florence (Mackney) Daniels.
She had worked as a hairdresser and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Augusta.
On June 14, 1935 she married Everett Kinsley in Richland, Mo. He preceded her in death as well as three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Janelle Anderson and husband Jack of Beaumont, Texas; and a sister, Clara Miller of Augusta.

Augusta, Kan. - LaVone "Vonnie" E. Linck, 80, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and farm wife of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
LaVone was born in Great Bend on Nov. 26, 1927; the daughter of the late Adolph Albert and Anna Johanna (Skolaut) Grunwald. On March 1, 1947 she married Frank Linck in Wichita. Five years later they moved to a farm near Augusta. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1997. A son, James Linck; brother, Donald Grunwald; and a sister, Wilma Busch preceded her in death also.
She is survived by: sons, Roy Linck and wife Connie of Augusta; and Steve Linck and wife Reea of Wichita; a daughter, Connie Basquez of Augusta; brother, Lynn Grunwald of Wichita; grandchildren, Andrea Leiker, Sarah Rios, Chelia and Jon Basquez, and Kyle and Katie Linck; and great-grandchildren, Dominic, Josh, Isabela, Emma and Maya.

Augusta, Kan. - There will be a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 4, at the Masonic Hall/Oddfellows Lodge, 526 1/2 State, in memory of Ethel Lucille Dosser.
She passed away on Dec. 19, 2007 while visiting family in Montana.
Friends and family are invited to attend in celebration of her life.
The Rebekah Lodge members will perform the memorial ritual as part of the program.

Augusta, Kan. - Joyce Lavonne Little, 80, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Jan. 12, 1928 in Park Rapids Minn., she moved to Kansas as a teenager. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Augusta.
She is survived by: her husband of fifty five years, Billie D. Little; their children, Ty Little and wife Diana; Larry Little and wife Carolyn; and Sharon Boucher, all of Augusta; Peggy Stebbins and husband Bob of Denton, Texas; sister, Patricia Newmiller of Casper, Wyo.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ole and Grace (Wagner) Halvorson.

Devin was born in El Dorado, on June 10, 1992; the daughter of James "Jeb" Eldon and LeeAnne (Dennett) Burress. They survive.
