Florabella B. Hyatt “Sally” 93, of Pittsburg, KS died 7:55am Friday
February 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS following
an illness.
Sally was born September 25, 1918 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of
Charles and Eleanora Campbell. She was a lifelong resident of the
area and attended area schools.
Sally was married Cecil Floyd Hyatt; he preceded her in death in 1971.
Sally worked as a Nurses Aide for Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center
in Pittsburg, KS for over 25 years specializing in new born children.
She was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include her daughter-in-laws Anne Hyatt of Pittsburg, KS and
Bonnie Peace of Plano, TX; grandchildren Josef Hyatt, Dr. Clare Hyatt,
Thomas Hyatt and Erika New; and many great-grandchildren and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her 2 children William Hyatt and George
Hyatt, her husband, parents and all her siblings.
Memorial Services will be 2pm Monday February 6, 2012 at the Bath
Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Don Talent
officiating. Burial will be at a private date at Garden of Memories
Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions
of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Hospice Compasses.
Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath Naylor Funeral
Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. E-mail condolences may

Donald Thompson, 70 of Pittsburg died at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday
February 1, 2012 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac.

He was born December 16, 1941 in Cherokee County , KS the
son of Chester W. and Ines (Standley) Thompson.

Don was a graduate of Crawford County High School in Cherokee
and then attended PSU for 2 years focusing on drafting technology.

He worked as a draftsman for the Kansas City Re-development
Authority in Kansas City , MO , was the owner/operator of the Cherokee
Liquor Store, worked for Parson’s Motors and O’Reilly Auto Parts in
Pittsburg and worked for a number of years for Monsour’s Warehouse.
He also enjoyed and was a very skilled carpenter and a collector of
statues, figurines, etc.

Don was of the Methodist faith and was a former member of the
Cherokee United Methodist Church .

Survivors include 3 brothers-Howard Thompson of Pittsburg ,
Gary Thompson of Cherokee, Roger Thompson of Parsons; numerous
nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a sister Caroldene Lovelady, a
brother Harold Thompson and 2 nephews Mike Lovelady and Kenny
Thompson.

According to Don’s wishes he has been taken for cremation.
Graveside memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday February 7, 2012
at the Cherokee CityCemeterywith Caption Chuck Cook officiating.
Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery. Condolences

made to the Salvation Army or Harry Hynes Hospice. Memorials may be

Thelma Lucille Porter Ingram 90, of Pittsburg, KS died 3:03pm Tuesday
January 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS following
an illness.
Lucille was born October 27, 1921 in Oskaloosa, MO the daughter of
Alvin and Fay (Ragland) Porter. She was a lifelong resident of the area
and attended area Pittsburg schools.
In 1941 she married Edward Ingram in Girard, KS; he preceded her in
death in 1996. Lucille was a homemaker and a Seamstress. She also
was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include her children Skip Ingram and wife Jane of Denton, TX
and Patty Duval and husband Jerry of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren
Tracy Hull, Steve Ingram, Jennifer Carter, Joey Duval, Rob Duval and
Dawn Duval; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe and Alvin
Porter and a sister Leona.
Funeral Services will be 11am Monday February 6, 2012 at the Bath
Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Don Talent officiating.
Burial will follow at the Highland ParkCemeteryin Pittsburg, KS.
Family will received friends from 6-7pm Sunday February 5, 2012 at the
funeral home; friends may call after 11am on Sunday. E-mail

James (Jim) N. Story, 99 of Pittsburg died 9:15 a.m. Tuesday
January 31, 2012 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg .

He was born May 20, 1912 in Goodman , MO the son of Jasper
and May (Milligan) Story. Jim moved to Pittsburg in 1924 and had been
a resident since that time.

Jim married Eunice Schmidt on March 22, 1935 in Pittsburg , KS ;
she preceded him in death on January 16, 2005.

He worked 30 years for Kansas City Southern Railroad as a car
man retiring in 1972.

Jim was a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene in
Pittsburg , the Brotherhood Railway Car man Association, a Nazarene
Church board member, church trustee and taught Sunday school.

Survivors include two daughters Jean Ann Hurst and husband
Jack of Dallas, TX, Jolene Hartman and husband Ernie of Tulsa, OK; a
sister Dolores Campbell of Wichita,; 3 Grandchildren Ken Hurst, Jeff
Hartman and Jennifer Hartman; 4 Great-grandchildren Amanda Hurst,
Kaylee Hartman, Rachel Hartman and Story Hartman. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers Jack, George and
Lem Story. 8 sisters Betty Toney, Marie Graff, Lula Eads, Mable
Throne, Paralee Biggs, Jennie Thomas, Amy Belew and Dena Blancett.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday February 4, 2012 at the
First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg with Reverend Jim Sukraw
officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount OliveCemetery. The family
will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral
Home in Pittsburg where friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday.

Violet Deane Carson, 87 of Frontenac died at 11:50 p.m. Monday
January 30, 2012 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg .

She was born June 14, 1924 in Meadville , MO the daughter of
Adolph L. and Vista L. (Sallee) Woollen. She has lived in the
Pittsburg/Frontenac area since 1974 moving here from Neosho , MO.

Deane attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City and
then was a graduate of Kansas City General Hospital School of Nursing.

She married Bill A. Carson on July 23, 1948 in Wadsworth , KS ;
he survives at the home.

Deane was a registered nurse working for St. Luke’s in Kansas
City ; she also worked for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in
Wadsworth and was the Director of Nursing for New Horizons in
Pittsburg .

She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Cherokee,
KS; a member of the National Nursing Association and the Mt Carmel
Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Bill of the home; three sons Alan
Carson of Lees Summit, MO, Kent Carson of Fairland , OK , Marlin
Carson of Girard; a brother Lloyd Woollen of Kansas , OK; 5
Grandchildren and one Great-grandchild. She was preceded in death
by her parents, a brother Lionel Woollen and a sister Leoma Woollen.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday February 2, 2012 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Reverend Monte Shoemake
officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday and
friends may call after 9 a.m. Condolences can be sent to www.

Nurses Foundation in memory of Dr. Ellen Carson. Memorials may be

Ronald Watson, 78 of Cherokee, KS passed away Saturday,
January 28, 2012 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

He was born March 7, 1933 in Independence, MO the son of
Raymond and Mary (Butcher) Watson. In 1955 Ron and Mary (Brisbin)
united in marriage. They were married for 59 years. She survives of
the home. They lived in Independence, MO before moving to Cherokee
in 1988. Ron served in the Army for 2 years. After the Army he went to
work for Armco Steel in Kansas City for 32 years.

Survivors include his wife Mary of the home. 2 sons, Ronald
David Watson of Independence, MO and Jeffrey Watson of Joplin, MO.
3 grandchildren, Anna, David and Christopher Watson. 5
Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2012
at Bath-Naylor Funeral home in Weir, KS with Pastor Ray Whitlock
officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee City Cemetery. Visitation will
be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday February 1. Condolences may be sent to
www.bathnaylor.com Memorials may be made out to King of Glory
Fellow Ship Church. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to 104
W. Main, Weir, KS 66781. Arrangements are under the direction
