Gary Ray “Bubba” Wood, 69 of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away
Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. He was
born October 12, 1942 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born to Alvin and
Norma Gene (Taylor) Wood. Gary’s father preceded him in death in
1986. Gary went to School at Starkey Handicap School. He moved to
Shields in 1970. This facility became Bridges and then Mosaic where
he visited until late April. Gary stayed briefly at Medicalodge and then
went home to be with his Lord. A step-sister, Vickie Ann Wood is the
only known Sibling. His other family members are those who have
cared for and loved him, the Bridges Community and guardian Dani
Burns. Thank you to all of those who helped Gary have a prosperous
life. A Cremation Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M., June 4, 2012, at
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, Kansas with Pastor Will Meeks

Dorothy J. (Wilson) Shirley 72, went to heaven on May 29, 2012
at 4:45 A.M., peacefully at home. She was born in Corona, Ks on June
10, 1939. Was preceded in death by her Mother Mable (Ward) Wilson,
Father Howard S. Wilson , three husbands: Earl E. Bagwell , Paul C.
Kersey and Kenneth E. Shirley and one grandson.
After graduating high school she went on to college and soon
after began working as a Certified Medical Aide and a Certified Nurses
Aide throughout several nursing homes. Later in life she retired from
being a Customer Sales Representative. Dorothy never met a stranger
and was a good mother and the most devoted, loving grandmother
there was. She was baptized May 12, 2012.
Survivors include: One brother, Ralph Rienbolt and wife Jane, one
sister Mardell and husband Lorn Burdick, Two daughters, Nickole Smith
and Julie Brashear and one son Howard Kersey and fiance Laura
Young. Nine grandchildren: Tom Brooksher, Nikki Bagwell and Fiance
Michael Godwin, Starla Blythe and husband Brian, Tiffany Murray,
Meggan Houdashelt and Husband Thomas, Shawn, Josh ,Jesse Kersey
and Amber Seely. Eight great grandchildren: Trenton, Seth and Ashlyn
Corbitt, Cody Murray, Annabella Roberts, Ayden and Brayden
Houdashelt and Neveah Seely. She also had several nieces, nephews
and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 1st at 4 pm. Services will be
held at Family Life Assembly of God located at 1234 North Rouse.

Colene Mae Jackson, 83 of Columbus died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday
May 26, 2012 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus.
She was born January 20, 1929 in Oswego, KS the daughter of
Willie and Hazel Mae (Campbell) Lawellin. She was a life-long resident
of the Columbus area. She was a graduate of Columbus High School.

Earl James Allison in May of 1946 in Oswego, KS.
She married
Donald Jackson in Miami, OK, he preceded her in death.
She was a member or the Sherwin Christian Church. She
enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and cooking.
Survivors include a son Greg Allison of Columbus, 2
grandchildren Joe Allison, Jason Allison and wife Nicole all of Columbus
and 3 great-grandchildren-Jana, Macey and Brodey. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and an infant son
James Randel Allison.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday June 1, 2012 at the
ParkCemeteryin Columbus with Reverend Dennis Johnson officiating.
Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery.

Eleanor M. Carr 86, of Pittsburg, KS died Thursday May 24, 2012 at Via
Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Eleanor was born May 8, 1926 in Parsons, KS the daughter of Michael
Timothy and Grace (Moore) Carr. She resided in this area for her early
years to later move to California following a career in nursing. She
received nurses training at Fort Scott Community College and later
received her Masters in Nursing at the Washington University in St.
Louis, MO. She taught Nursing at the University of California and
worked for the St. John’s Hospital in California. When she moved back
to this area she was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic
Church in Pittsburg, KS. Eleanor was a National League of Nursing
Certified Member; a member of numerous other Catholic Organizations
and will be most remembered by her love of being around and teaching
young people.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, great nieces and
nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who loved and cared for
her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Robert Carr, Leo
Carr, Michael Carr, Loretta O’Rourke, Florence Finch and Dorothy
McFadden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Wednesday May 30, 2012 at the
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with Fr. Michael
Baldwin as celebrant. Family will receive friends from 9-10am prior to
the service at the funeral home. Graveside Committal Services will be
1pm at the Mt. OlivetCemeteryin Parsons, KS. E-mail condolences

Alice (Wilbert) Schuberger, 91 of Chicopee , KS died at 7:34 a.m.
Thursday May 24, 2012 at the Via Christi Village Pittsburg.
She was born August 2, 1920 in Pittsburg , KS the daughter of
Albert and Alice (Lahey) Wilbert. She had been a resident of the
Pittsburg/Chicopee area her entire life. She was a graduate of
Crawford County High School in Cherokee.
Alice married
Lawrence Schuberger on January 17, 1940 at St.
Barbara’s Catholic Church in Chicopee , KS . He preceded her in
death on August 3, 1982.
She was a homemaker, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Church and a past member of the former St. Barbara’s
Catholic Church in Chicopee .
Survivors include 2 sons Jerry Schuberger and wife Judy of
Kansas City , KS; Tim Schuberger of Parsons; a daughter Barbara
Oehme and husband Bill of Pittsburg; 4 brothers-John, Lloyd, Calvin
and Jim Wilbert; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Joe, Albert and
Sylvester Wilbert, 2 sisters Margaret Gruber and Marie Wilkinson and a
grandson Chad Oehme.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday May 29, 2012 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Mike Baldwin as
celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland ParkCemetery. The parish
rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral
Home in Pittsburg where the family will receive friends following the
rosary until 7:30 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon

Norma Lee Seifert, age 87, of Pittsburg, Kansas, died Sunday, May 20,
2012, at Sterling House in Neenah, Wisconsin, after a short illness.
She was born June 17, 1924, in Pittsburg at her Grandmother’s house
on Rouse Street to the late Roy Epple and Emma (Kent) Epple. Norma
attended the Eugene Fields and the Roosevelt Junior High Schools in
Pittsburg. On June 21, 1941, she married
George Seifert of Pittsburg
at the courthouse in Lamar, Missouri, with their mothers and one sister
in attendance. They celebrated their marriage with twenty five cents
spent for five glasses of Pepsi at Shelton Cafe across the street.
In 1954 George and Norma moved from Pittsburg to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and lived there on 70th Street for 20 years. They enjoyed
vacationing at resorts in Northern Wisconsin and in Canada and
camping and hiking with their son and grandchildren. Twenty years
later they moved back to Pittsburg and built a new home on Free Kings
Highway which they enjoyed to the fullest. Everyday they went for long
walks and enjoyed getting to know their neighbors. Norma was a life-
long member of the Pittsburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Norma is survived by one son Terry Seifert and his wife Marlene of
Butte des Morts, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Debra and her husband
John Paul Navarro, of Naperville, Illinois; Kelly and his wife Fonda
Seifert, of Berrien Center, Michigan; great-grandchildren, John-Luke,
Nicholas, and Alexander Navarro; and Zachary and Nathan Seifert; and
nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Norma was also preceded in death by her
husband George, on February 6, 2002, and two sisters, Evelyn Bubolz
and Mildred McWilliam.
A Committal Service and inurnment will be held on Tuesday, June 5,
2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the CrockerCemeteryat Pittsburg, Kansas, with
her nephew Pastor Joseph McWilliam officiating. A Memorial Service
will be on Monday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Sterling House at 2330
Bruce Street in Neenah, Wisconsin, with Pastor Joseph Arner
