Thomas E. Carlin, 98 of Pittsburg, KS passed away Tuesday, May 1,
2012 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg. He was bom December 22, 1913
in Girard, KS, the son of James T. and Flora B. James Carlin. He
served four years in WWII, enlisting in 1941. He was a Master Sergeant
serving in the European Theater where he received a battle star for the
Rhineland Campaign. On April 5, 1942 he married
Virginia Etta Pratt in
Washington, DC. She preceded him in death in 2004. Thomas worked
for the US Postal Service for 22 years as a letter carrier, retiring in
1976. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Pittsburg; a
member of the American Legion Post 64; a member of the National
Letter Carriers Association and AARP. Thomas is survived by his son,
Thomas E. Carlin JR and wife Lavanda of Williams Bay, Wisconsin; 1
daughter, Barbara Belles and husband Charles of Chanute, KS. 3
Grandchildren: 3 Great-grandchildren. 1 sister: Daisy V. Locke of
Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 1
sister and 1 brother. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 4,
2012 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Reverend Kevin
Arensman officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories where the
Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post 64 will provide Flag Folding

Rose B. Gross 99, of rural Cherokee, KS died 9:20pm Thursday April
26, 2012 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS where she resided
the past 6 years. She enjoyed good health until the past few weeks.
Rose was born April 19, 1913 in West Mineral, KS the daughter of
Ignatz and Rosie (Sigler) Gross, she was the third of seven children.
She lived on the family farm one-half mile north of Stone City all her
life. For a time she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in
Parsons, KS. She had dairy cattle all individually named for many
years and later raised beef cattle providing them only the best care.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish of West
Mineral, KS until it closed and then transferred membership to the St.
Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS.
Survivors include her brother John Gross (101 years old) of Scammon,
KS now residing in Via Christi Village Pittsburg, KS; sister Mary Perello
(97) of West Mineral, KS now at Sunset Manor in Frontenac, KS; 7
nieces, 5 nephews, cousins, and their families, plus many friends and
caregivers she held close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Ignace,
Frank, Joe and Mike Gross; sisters-in-law Edna Herlocker Gross and
June Battaglia Gross; brother-in-law Bart Perello and a niece Linda
Marie Gross Patterson.
Mass of Christian Burial 10am Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the St.
Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS with Fr. Chrysostom Ah
Maung as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Bridget’sCemeteryin
Scammon, KS. Rosary will be recited at 7pm Tuesday May 1, 2012 at
the Bath Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS; family will receive friends

Phyllis Jean Potts 79, of Frontenac, KS went to be with the Lord on
Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS
following an illness.
Phyllis was born August 6, 1933 in Eldorado, Illinois the daughter of
Kenneth and Mary (Self) Mills. She graduated from high school in
Eldorado moving to this community in 1976. Phyllis was a homemaker
and loved to cook for her family. She sang on the radio as a young girl
and sang for various occasions. She will be most remembered as a
loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children Thomas Potts and wife Denise of Hobart,
IN, Frances Potts of Cherryvale, KS, William Potts and wife Kathy of
Lafayette, IN, Kenneth Potts and wife Judy of Surprise, AZ, Stephen
Potts of Frontenac, KS, Glen Potts and wife Diane of Frontenac, KS,
Darrell Potts of Frontenac, KS, Deborah Longan and husband Dan of
Pittsburg, KS and Richard Potts of Pittsburg, KS; siblings Janice
Columbo of Herrin, IL and Buck Mills of Sioux City, IA; 20 grandchildren
and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Tom and
Sarah Mills, son Robert Potts and a great-grandchild Chance Pearson.

Margaret Joan Neer, 78 of Pittsburg, KS, died at 9:45 pm January 8,
2013 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac.
She was born February 22, 1934 in Pittsburg the daughter of Floyd and
Clarice (Hanes) Caspari. She attended Pittsburg Schools and
graduated from Pittsburg High School, she then attended PSU.
On February 18, 1956 she was united in marriage to Carveth Neer in
Pittsburg; of the home.
Margaret worked for the Census Bureau for 30 years.
She was a member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg.
She was Past President of The Social Order of the Beauceant, she was
active as a Den Mother and a Boy Scout Mother. She was also active
in the De Molay Mothers Club and spent many years working with the
Order of Rainbow for girls, serving as Mother Advisor.
Additional survivors include a son Jeff Neer of Pittsburg, three
grandchildren Jeff Neer II, Jessica Lair (Justin) and Katelyn Neer; two
great grandchildren James Neer and Payton Lair.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 7 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Wolff officiating. Family will receive
friends the funeral home from 6 pm until service time and then following

Andrew William Wenzel 49, of Pittsburg, KS passed away 3:00pm
Saturday March 16, 2013 at his home following an illness.
Andrew was born December 8, 1963 in Sacramento, CA the son of
Ronald L. and Bonnie L. (Baker) Wenzel, later moving to Marshalltown,
IA where he was raised and graduated. With bowling being his passion,
he moved to this community in 1983 to work as a bowling mechanic at
Holiday Lanes after completing the Brunswick Mechanic School in
Michigan. He also worked as a Field Technician for Interstate in
Pittsburg, KS.
On June 27, 1998 Andrew married
Diana Stroud in Reno, NV; she
survives at the home. Andrew was of the Christian Faith; his passion in
life was bowling, golf, softball, sports card collector and most of all his
family.
Survivors include his wife; parents; children Zach Edwards and Jenna
Smith of Pittsburg, KS, Corey Edwards and wife Jana of Girard, KS,
Ethan Edwards and Alyssa Dugone of Mulberry, KS and A.J. “Andrew”
Wenzel of Frontenac, KS; siblings Breton Wenzel of Marshalltown, IA,
Shawn Wenzel and wife Robin of Beavertown, OR, Todd Wenzel and
wife Sandra of Corona, CA and Chad Witte and wife Jennifer of Des
Moines, IA; grandson Noah Edwards of Girard, KS; sister-in-law Nancy
Newbery and husband John of Pittsburg, KS, brother-in-law Richard
Stroud and wife Sondra of Pittsburg, KS and sister-in-law Kay Dunbar
and husband Danny of Pittsburg, KS and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Curt and
Marge Carlson, paternal grandparents Francis Wenzel and Lois
Baumgarten and a brother-in-law Mark Stroud.

Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Jordan Hull
