Ron D. Speer, 54, South Hutchinson, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, in Cactus, Texas. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.
He was born May 20, 1953, at Dodge City to Minard and Eula May (Brown) Speer.
He worked as a truck driver.
He married
Debbie Blake Feb. 25, 2001, at Hutchinson. She survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Casey Speer; brothers, Larry Speer, Ottawa, Terry Speer, Don Speer and Cleo Speer; sisters, Linda Wilks, Ottawa, Becky Burnett, Vicki Hall, Dana Riggs and Vivian Wise; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Speer; sisters, Leoda Moss and Corkie Wilson; and a brother, Darrell Speer.
Burial will be at Fairlawn Burial Park.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Family will meet with friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

Anthony Ryan Adams, 11, Garnett, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, Garnett.
He was born June 29, 1996, at Emporia to Rodney Adams and Libby (Thomas) Rose.
Survivors include his father, Emporia; his mother and his stepfather, Walter Rose, Emporia; grandparents, Roger and Phyllis Adams, Garnett, and Patsy Price, and her husband, Buster, Clay Center; a great-grandmother, Opal Maxine Adams, Garnett; a brother, Jonathan Adams, Garnett; a stepbrother, Justin Cotton, Emporia; a sister, Aailynnia Adams, Garnett; and stepsisters, Amy Mills, Emporia, and Patricia Mills, Paola.
Burial will be at Garnett Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Feuerborn Family Funeral Services, Garnett.

JOYCE L. (CUTTING) BASINGER
Joyce (Cutting) Basinger, 69, Livermore, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007.
She was born Nov. 26, 1937, to Joel and Hazel Cutting at Ottawa.
She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1955. She also graduated from the University of Kansas.
She worked as a speech pathologist.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Basinger, Livermore, Calif.; sons, David Basinger and Jon Basinger, both of Livermore, Calif.; stepmother, Melda Cutting, Ottawa; sisters, LuAnn (Cutting) Debrick, Drexel Mo., and Ann Haggard-Cutting Ackerman, Marysville; and two grandsons.
OPAL I. KUNKEL
Opal I. Kunkel, 91, Waverly died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Sunset Manor, Waverly. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Waverly Baptist Church.
She was born Dec. 23, 1915, at Ottawa to Dick and Grace E. (Young) Nearmyer.
She worked as site manager for the Waverly Senior Center Nutrition Program.
She married
Albert A. Kunkel April 6, 1947, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, David Kunkel, Waverly; three grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Nearmyer and Henry Stein; and sisters, Edna Roebuck, Dorothy Commeree and Carol Teal.
Family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington.

GABRIELE SHERIDAN ACKER
Gabriele Sheridan Acker, 7 months, Eudora, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, with family by her side at Children's Mercy Hospital.
She was cremated. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at the Lawrence Heights Christian Church, 2321 Peterson Road, Lawrence KS 66049. Gabriele Sheridan Acker was born Jan. 12, 2007, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., the precious daughter of Jason and Micah (Nastasio) Acker. Gabi's precious light filled the hearts of many and she will be cherished and missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Gabi is survived by her parents; her little sister, Gracie of the home; paternal grandparents, Fred and Phyllis Acker of Lawrence; maternal grandparents, Tonya and Brian Crawford of Independence, Mo.; maternal grandfather, Benny Nastasio of Independence, Mo.; paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Lois Stoneberger of Abilene, maternal great-grandparents, William and Barbara Bowles of Sun City, Ariz.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
NORMAN GUY ZICKEL
Norman Guy Zickel, 78, Wellsville, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007, at the Wellsville Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 14, 1928, at Pella, Iowa, to Guy and Antonette (Naakgteboren) Zickel.
He was a member of the United States Navy.
He married
Arlene McBride April 6, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
Survivors also include sons, Larry Zickel, Dubuque, Iowa, and David Zickel, Wellsville; daughters, Phyllis Holtwick, and her husband, Mike, Wellsville; Peggy Spratt, Weatherford, Texas; Karla Smith, Lawrence; Teresa Bloodsworth, and her husband, Russell, Pella, Iowa; a daughter, Leslie Brown, and her husband, Don Brown, Wellsville; a brother, Carrol Zickel; and sisters, Willa Hart and Linda Fisk, all of Pella, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, Derald Ray; a sister, Beverly Vos; a brother, Derald Glen, and a grandson.

WANDA CLARK HOUSTON
SALINA -- Wanda G. Clark Houston, 69, Salina, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, in Salina. A memorial service and inurnment will be later.
She was born July 2, 1938. She graduated from Wellsville High School.
She worked for REMA Bakeware, Salina, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Topeka, and AMVETS, El Dorado.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Houston, Carmel, N.Y., and Rick Houston, Salina; a daughter, Glenda Dwyer, Wichita; a sister, Donna Mundy, Salina; 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her companion, Loren Johnson and two sons, Samuel Houston and Randy Houston.

LORAINE ELDER
Loraine Elder, 83, Ottawa, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Ottawa.
She was born Sept. 6, 1923, at Ottawa to Hiram and Elizabeth (Drake) Browning.
She was a lifelong Ottawa resident.
She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1941.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Home Builders Sunday School class and later the Wifani Sunday school class, NARFE and Elmgrove Homemakers Unit.
She worked as a clerk and bookkeeper at Brown's Hardware from 1952 to 1972. She also worked as a payroll clerk for H.D. Lee for 13 years.
She married
John Calvert Elder, Jan. 1, 1944, at Baldwin City. He survives.
Survivors also include granddaughters, Trisha Lynn Kaub, and her husband, Dan, Ottawa, Traci Ann Martin, and her husband, Mike, Lubbock, Texas, and Tori Sue Wilson, and her husband, Russ, Ottawa; a grandson, Timothy Allen Wolfe, and his wife, Cindy, Ottawa; great-grandsons, Levi Kaub, Tyler Kaub, Zachery Kaub, and David Wilson, all of Ottawa, Seth Martin and Jared Martin, both of Lubbock, Texas, and Christian Wolfe and Travis Wolfe, both of Olathe; great-granddaughters, Audrey Martin, Lubbock, Texas, and Kelsi Wilson, Ottawa; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Elder, Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Jewell (Elder) Wolfe; sons, Hiram D. "Bud" Elder and John Calvert Elder Jr.; and a brother, Don Drake.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin County.
