RICHARD HOWARD GREEN
Richard Howard Green, 69, Oskaloosa, died Sunday, August 12, 2007, at the Living Water Church, Oskaloosa. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon.
He was born Aug. 23, 1937, at Quenemo to Joe and Lilly Green.
He graduated from Quenemo High School in 1956.
He married
Esther Lorene Hopkins June 12, 1982. She survives.
Survivors also include his mother, Myrtle Green, Quenemo; daughters, Connie Teter, Garnett, Genia Henricks, Quenemo, and Janice Henricks, Oskaloosa; a son, Kenny Hopkins, Allen, Texas; a niece; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Meek.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo.
Friends may pay their respects from noon Friday to the service hour at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon.

OLLIE J. GRUVER
Ollie J. Gruver, 100, Ottawa, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 9, 1906, at Riner, Va., to Charlie and Annie (Hatcher) Jewell.
She was a homemaker.
She married
Laurence L. Gruver June 10, 1934, at Centropolis. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Calvin D. Gruver, Centropolis; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by sisters, Lula Bishop, Clydie Jewell, Bessie Gruver and Nellie Howard; brothers, Ballard Jewell and Frank Jewell.

ANTHONY RYAN ADAMS
Anthony Ryan Adams, age 11, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at his home.
He was born on June 29, 1996, at Emporia, Kansas, the son of Rodney Adams and Libby (Thomas) Rose.
Anthony lived at Emporia until moving to Garnett in 2004, when he began living with his grandparents, Roger and Phyllis Adams. He was preparing to enter the fifth grade at Garnett Elementary Center. He loved to play baseball, soccer, go swimming and riding his four wheeler. He also enjoyed riding horses and he loved his family and friends.
Anthony was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Bennie and Opal Parks and Harlan Adams.
He is survived by his mother, Libby Rose and her husband, Walter, Emporia; his father, Rodney Adams of Emporia; one brother, Jonathan Adams and a sister, Aailynnia Adams, both of the home; a stepbrother, Justin Cotton, Emporia; two stepsisters, Amy Mills, Emporia, and Patricia Mills, Paola; grandparents, Roger and Phyllis Adams, Garnett, and Patsy and Buster Price, Clay Center; one great-grandmother, Opal Maxine Adams, Garnett; and aunt Brenda Jenelle Adams, cousins Cody and Josh Mundell, all of Baldwin City.
Musical selections played at his funeral service were "Pour out the Rain," "Amazing Grace" and "Angel Band."
Pastor Tony Thornton gave the prayer and the funeral message at the First Christian Church, Garnett.
Candlelighters were Joseph Scobee and Carlee Leinweber.
Casketbearers were Cody Mundell, Josh Mundell, Jeb Bryan, Adam Stahl, Travis Stahl and Travis Stanley.
Honorary casketbearers were Jerry Jensen, Randy Stahl, Tress Potter, Jonathan Adams, Tom Copeland, Waylon Morse, Terry Feuerborn, Yevahan Komisor, Bobby Saile, Eli Mitchell, Justin Cotton and Amy and Trish Mills.
Interment was at Garnett Cemetery.

Anthony blessed many people in his life and death. His heart valves were donated to Midwest Transplant Network.
GERTRUDE S. COON
Gertrude S. Coon, 88, Eudora, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Ottawa, to Walter E. and Gertrude E. (Evans) Hansen.
She worked in production control at Hallmark Cards.
She married
Lawrence E. Coon April 1, 1939. He preceded her in death.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Edward Coon, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Coon, Baldwin City; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.

ZEDA WELLCOME
Zeda Wellcome, 88, Humboldt, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Humboldt.
She was born Dec. 21, 1918, at Hartfield, Mo., to W.H. and Elmine Rose (Redick) Wilson.
She was a homemaker.
She married
Marvin LeRoy Wellcome Nov. 26, 1936, at Humboldt. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Marvin LeRoy Wellcome Jr., Jaye, Okla.; a daughter, Leila Smith, Garnett; sisters Faye Bloom, Pittsburg, and Jean Caler, Boulder City, Nev.; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Jess Wilson; sisters, Ruby Healey and Lela Brinkman; and a grandson.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt.

MARY "JOYCE" CAIN
Mrs. Mary "Joyce" Cain, 69, Topeka, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Midland Hospice House. She was born Aug. 16, 1938, at Paola.
Joyce had worked at Gage Bowls and Regency Park Apartment Complex. She was a member of the Topeka Women's Bowling Assoc.
She was married
to Richard Lyle Cain, who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter: Kendra Riddle of Topeka; a son: Kirby Cain of Topeka; two sisters: Lova Brondell of Van Nuys, Calif., and Deen Evinger of Raytown, Mo.; and a grandson: Justin Benoit of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Joyce will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka KS 66606-2800.
ALICE M. MYERS
Alice M. Myers, 87, Ottawa, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Vintage Park, Ottawa. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
She was born Feb. 24, 1920, at Kansas City, Mo., to Decatur Clark and Alice (Hinshaw) Millard.
She lived in New Haven, Conn., for eight years and two years in South Carolina. She moved to Ottawa in 1954.
She graduated from Raytown High School in 1938. She attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., and Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.
She enjoyed word games, constructing crossword puzzles, reading and loved animals and classical music. She especially enjoyed playing Scrabble and Up Words.
She was a member of Ottawa First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and participated in numerous church activities. She was in charge of the candle lighters.
She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for insurance companies in Connecticut. She also worked as a print shop supervisor at Ottawa University and later at the House of Usher in Lawrence, Kansas. She retired in 1981.
She married
H. William Myers July 4, 1939, at Kansas City, Mo. They shared more than 68 years of marriage. He survives.
Survivors also include a son, Christopher Myers, and his wife, Cheryl, New Carlisle, Ohio; a daughter, Gweneth Nance, and her husband, Roger, Ottawa; a sister, Ila Tenny, and her husband, Ed, Lee's Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren, Wendy Nance, Cathy Harleman and Scott Nance; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Harleman, Austin Harleman and Ana Williams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Park Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Mo.
The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lyle Sutton, Sr.
1936-2011
Funeral service for Lyle R. Sutton, Sr., 74, Lawrence will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Mr. Sutton died February 5, 2011 at University of Kansas Medical Center.
He was born on February 27, 1936 the son of Harry and Doris (Roberman) Sutton.
Lyle attended Baldwin Public School District. He graduated from Baldwin High School. He moved to Lawrence in 1960. Lyle retired after 27 years from the Lawrence Police Department in 1987 as an Administrative Lieutenant. He later worked for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy for 10 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police where he served as President, Secretary and Treasure. Lyle was a member of the Kansas Law Enforcement Association and a former member of the Mt. Oread Aerie #309, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Elks Lodge #595 B.P.O.E. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt.
He married
Erna L. Stuck on December 21, 1960. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Wanda Lewis and Angela Morgan, both of Lawrence; two sons, Kelvin Helmert, Lawrence and Lyle (J.R.) Sutton, Jr., Overland Park, KS; one sister, Lavere Husted, Lawrence; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
