JOHN HOWARD LOVE
John Howard Love, 75, Pomona, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Village Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
He was born March 7, 1932, at Ottawa to John Oliver and Gertrude Mae (Baker) Love.
He lived most of his life in Franklin County. He lived in Kansas City after his military service until he moved to Ottawa April 1961. He moved to the Pomona area in 1973. He moved to Princeton in 1991 and then returned to Pomona in 1996.
He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War.
He worked as an auto mechanic in Kansas City from 1955 to 1961. He then worked at Willis Nursery until 1967. He owned and operated John's Service Station and Bait Shop from 1967 to 1985. He then worked as a baker at Country Mart from the date the store opened until he retired in late 1995.
He was a former member of the Garnett Nazarene Church. He attended the Greenwood Baptist Church.
He married
Wilma Lee Page July 29, 1956, at Raytown, Mo. She preceded him in death Feb. 16, 1996.
Survivors include sons, Howard E. Love, and his wife, Deborah, Mulvane, John D. Love, and his wife, Mitzi, Pomona, and Keith W. Love, and his wife, Lisa, Pomona; grandchildren, Raymond Love, and his wife, Laura, Shayleen Powell, and her husband, Kraig, Brian Love, Gina Lee Love, Shawna Love and Logan Love; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Love and Ashlyn Love Powell.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. today to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

CLAUDINE NORTON
Claudine M. Norton, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 in Topeka.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Overbrook United Methodist Church.
She was born April 3, 1918, at Overbrook to Alvin R. and Ethel M. English Miller.
She graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1935 and attended Washburn University.
She worked for the federal government and a bank.
On Oct. 19, 1946, she married
Glen Norton at Overbrook. He survives at the home.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Miller Land.
Survivors include a niece and nephews.
Family and friends will will meet at 9 a.m. before the service at the church. Private inurnment will be at Overbrook Cemetery.

LAWRENCE HIGHBERGER
Lawrence Highberger, 93, Westphalia, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at the Allen County Hospital, Iola. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Westphalia.
He was born Dec. 22, 1913, at Westphalia to Anthony and Theresa (Tenspold) Highberger.
He worked as a farmer.
He married
Florence Schlick April 11, 1939, at Westphalia. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Giles, Joplin, Mo.; four grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Richard; and a sister, Josephine.
Burial will be at St. Theresa Cemetery, Westphalia.
Family will meet with friends after a wake service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

DIAN DOWNEY
Dian Downey, 64, Wellsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
She was born April 29, 1943, at Ottawa to Orren and Wanda (Mealman) Altic.
She was a lifelong Franklin County resident. She lived in Ottawa and the Wellsville area.
She worked as a seamstress at H.D. Lee, Ottawa, for 23 years. She retired in 1981.
She married
Roger Lee Downey Dec. 31, 1979, at Ottawa. He survives.
Survivors also include her parents, Ottawa; a son, Larry Reddick, and his wife, Billie, Stark; a daughter, Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Kimberly Shepherd, Radcliff, Ky.; sisters, Donna Smith, and her husband, Richard, Topeka, and Connie Morris, and her husband, Pat, Williamsburg; brothers, David Altic, and his wife, Shirley, Michael Altic, and his wife, Debbie, and Randy Altic, and his wife, Jayne, all of Ottawa; grandchildren, Brandon Reddick and Chris Reddick, both of Fredonia, Larry Reddick Jr., Neodesha, Tyler Reddick and Haley Reddick, both of Stark, FN Michael Reddick, Owensboro, Ky., and Gregory Shepherd and Marcus Shepherd, both of Radcliff, Ky.; nine nephews and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Teri Morris; and a grandson, Stephen Reddick.
Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Miami County.

ALBERT WAYNE DAMRON
Albert Wayne Damron, 69, Garnett, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett.
He was born Nov. 29, 1937, at Toronto to Shirden and Cassie (Shephard) Damron.
He worked at Modern Maintenance.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia Damron, Garnett; his mother, of Moran; sons, James D. Damron, Polo, Mo., Wayne Eugene Wright, Marble Falls, Texas, Brian Fountain Damron, Kansas City, Mo., and Carl Eldon Damron, Garnett; daughters, Deborah Mitchem, Baldwin City, Brenda Adams, Newton, and Carla Jean Stoy, Garnett; sisters, Betty McDonald, Emporia, Shirley White, Williamsburg, Colo., and Sharon Weide, Iola; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Leon Damron; sisters, Pauline Schwintz and Barbara Damron and three grandchildren.
Burial will be at Garnett Cemetery.
