Neva G. Batchman
GREAT BEND - Neva G. Batchman, 88, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, Great Bend.
She was born Jan. 14, 1912, at Plainville, the daughter of Lewis Alfred and Elizabeth Ann Stoneman Stone. A rural Great Bend resident for most of her life, she was a homemaker and cook for USD 428, Great Bend.
She belonged to United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, the Eagles Auxiliary 646 Ritual Team and the Sunnyside EHU, both at Great Bend, and was a 4-H leader.
On May 4, 1932, she married
Alvin Otis Batchman at Ellinwood. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Darrell, Great Bend; a daughter, Marlene Neuforth, Great Bend; two sisters, Carol J. Marlett, Mesa, Ariz., and Clarabel Fick, Seattle; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, with Debra Rains officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Great Bend Family Mortuary, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.
Memorials may be sent to the Barton County Home Health Care or to the church, both in care of the mortuary.
Doris E. Inlow
NEWTON - Doris E. Inlow, 79, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.
She was born Oct. 24, 1920, at Dwight, the daughter of Lewis E. and Helen Mae Beaver Euler. A Halstead resident since 1969, she moved to Newton in 1998. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, the church choir, United Methodist Women, was past president of Ruth Wilson American Legion Post 231 Auxiliary, all of Halstead, and was past president of Veterans of the Foreign Wars Post 971 Auxiliary, Newton.
On Feb. 20, 1948, she married
Leonard Wood Inlow at Wichita. He died April 25, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Matthew, Sedgwick; a daughter, Linda Inlow Teener, Manhattan; a brother, Samuel Euler, Dwight; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde; and a sister, Imogene Kennon.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at First United Methodist Church, Halstead, with the Rev. James Mardock presiding. There will be no calling times.

Nellie Florence McCubbin Schamaun
GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Nellie Florence McCubbin Schamaun, 99, died Jan. 24, 2000, at Brian Center Nursing Home, N.C.
She was born April 26, 1900, at Hickory, Mo., the daughter of Elbert and Mary Bybee McCubbin. A former Fort Scott resident, moving from Ness City in 1939, she was a seamstress and clothing manufacturer, retiring in 1965.
She belonged to Harvest Baptist Church, Goldsboro, and was past member of the Rebekah Lodge, Ness City.
On Jan. 26, 1926, she married
Walter Harry Schamaun at Jordan, Mo. He died July 28, 1938.
Survivors include: a son, Harry Duane, Sacramento; seven daughters, Loy Pearl Holland, St. Joseph, Mo., Mary Louise Cooper, Goldsboro, Mayme Lucille Amstutz, Hutchinson, Ceola Faye Tischler, Temple, Texas, Nell Maxine Moore, Aurora, Colo., Thelma Lee Spence, Fort Scott, and Lela Adele McQuinn, Kansas City, Kan.; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, with the Rev. Russell King presiding. Friends may call prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ransom Cemetery.
Helen E. Rogers
ELLINWOOD - Helen E. Rogers, 94, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.

Gary A. McNaul
OLATHE - Gary A. McNaul, 45, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Wichita.
He was born Dec. 4, 1954, at Hutchinson, the son of Charles "Bill" and Phyllis L. McNaul. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1973 and attended Barton County Community College for a year. An Olathe resident for five years, he was a food broker and school specialist at Osage Marketing Inc.
He belonged to the Sons of the American Legion and the Veterans of the Foreign Wars.
Survivors include: his wife, Debbie, of the home; a son, Brandon Alan, of the home; a stepdaughter, Heather Krause, of the home; mother, McPherson; a brother, Brent W., Austin, Texas; and a sister, Janet L. Fournier, Lenexa.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Robert Scott.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Olathe. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olathe.

Ione G. Stroessner
LINDSBORG - Ione G. Stroessner, 83, of Lindsborg, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
She was born Feb. 10, 1916, at Lindsborg, the daughter of Joseph and Gertie Rasmussen Larson. A Lindsborg resident since 1997, moving from Denver, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, and the Denver Art Museum, Denver.
On May 4, 1940, she married
Robert Stroessner at Lindsborg. He died in 1992.
Survivors include: a son, Richard, Denver; a brother, Landis L. Larson, Lindsborg; a sister, Virgie M. Berg, Lindsborg; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hays Funeral Home Chapel, Lindsborg, with the Revs. Don Hawk and Charles Humphrey presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date in Smoky Hill Cemetery, rural Lindsborg. There will be no visitation. Cremation is planned.

Ruth M. Briggs
NEWTON - Ruth M. Briggs, 90, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.
She was born April 7, 1909, in rural Peabody, the daughter of George W. and Edith Lovell Parker. She graduated from Newton High School in 1928. She had been a Newton resident since 1924, moving from Peabody.
She belonged to First Christian Church, where she was deaconess emeritus, the former Comwolei Club, the former Themian Club, Harvey County Hospice and Newton Medical Center Auxiliary.
On Feb. 17, 1929, she married
James H. Briggs. He died in 1984.
Survivors include: two daughters, Irene Shaw, Wichita, and Dorothy Vogt, Bartlesville, Okla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Newton, with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, with the family greeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at her home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
