Thomas J. Snavely
PEABODY - Thomas J. Snavely, 85, died Jan. 26, 2000, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
He was born May 18, 1914, at Avard, Okla., the son of James A. and Jenny M. Baldwin Snavely. A longtime Peabody resident, he was a retired pattern maker and former owner of Tom's Pattern Shop.
On Oct. 27, 1936, he married
Victoria "Vicky" Wayman. She died in 1986.
Survivors include: a daughter, Karen Craft, Osage City; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at the Christian Church, Peabody, with Pastor Jim Pohlman presiding. Private inurnment service will be at a later date.

Louis Cappola
CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - Louis Cappola, 83, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Seeven Rivers Community Hospital.
He was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. He graduated from Auburn University. A longtime Crystal River resident, moving from Bernardsville, N.J., he taught for 39 years.
He belonged to St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Winona; a son; four daughters, including Jane Woolsey, Hutchinson; four brothers; a sister; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral Mass and burial will be Monday in Crystal River.
Strickland Funeral Home, Crystal River, is in charge of arrangements.
Lorretta Meyer
LIBERAL - Lorretta Meyer, 65, died Jan. 28, 2000, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Southwest Medical Center.

Fred Small
MOSCOW - Fred Small, of Moscow, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Northwestern Texas Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.

Helen Elizabeth Cook Rogers
GREAT BEND - Helen Elizabeth Cook Rogers, 93, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Great Bend.
She was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Barton County, the daughter of Henry Carl and Elizabeth Belle Amerine. A lifetime Barton County resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Great Bend, Royal Neighbors of America since 1925, and the Dartmouth Social Club.
On Nov. 18, 1925, she married
William Albert Rogers at Great Bend. He died May 9, 1974.
Survivors include: a daughter-in-law and husband, Lila and James Fuller, Gravois Mills, Mo.; five grandchildren, William J. "Jim" Rogers, Amarillo, Texas, Roderick H. "Rod" Rogers, Salina, Kansas, Paula Kaye Rogers, Hoisington, Kansas, Linnette Dianne Carlson, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Janelle Kayleen Dreiling, Frisco, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Carl, in 1966.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel, Great Bend, with the Rev. William Johnson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. The family will be present from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, in care of the mortuary.
Father Stephen Wylie
WRIGHT - Father Stephen Wylie, 85, died Jan. 6, 2000, at the Catholic Care Center, Wichita.
He was born Dec. 26, 1914, at Dublin, Ireland, the son of Samuel and Dorothy Mary Kirwan Wylie. He attended Ushaw College, Durham, England, and joined the Benedictine Order at Buckfast Abbey in South Devon, England. On June 22, 1941, he was ordained at Plymouth, England, and taught moral theology and canon law at Buckfast Abbey. He served as curate at St. Gerard's Church, Bristol, England, and St. John's Church, Trowbridge, England, and was recruited for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita in 1952.
He served as an assistant pastor at Holy Name Parish, Winfield, and Holy Savior Parish, Wichita, and transferred to the Diocese of Dodge City in 1957 as a pastor. He later served as pastor at St. Helen's, Hugoton, St. Timothy's (now St. Alphonsus), Satanta, St. Lawrence, Jetmore, St. Anthony, Hanston, and St. Andrew, Wright. He served in other various capacities in the Dodge City and Wichita dioceses.
Survivors include: a sister, Bettye Dowson, Tyne & Wear, England; and two nephews.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Wright. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Bishop Ronald M. Gilmore presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, both at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, and from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Wright.

Albert August Seltman
LARNED - Albert August Seltman, 91, died Jan. 7, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Long Term Care, Larned.
He was born Aug. 22, 1908, near Nekoma in Rush County, the son of Anton Frederick and Carrie Elizabeth Spreier Seltmann. He graduated from Enterprise Academy, attended Union College, Lincoln, Neb., and completed a program in mechanical engineering at the University of Nebraska in 1934. A longtime Pawnee County resident, he was a farmer and owned Seltman Tractor Service for more than 40 years.
He belonged to Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Fort Larned Lions Club, and served as a member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Board of Pawnee County from 1954 to 1974.
On Sept. 22, 1935, he married
Alice Jean Daniels at Rozel. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Kent, Rochester, Minn., John, Rozel, and Scott, Nekoma; a daughter, Linda Bryan, Overland Park; a brother, Robert, Nekoma; a sister, Carol Seltmann, Chicago; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan; four brothers, Andy, Ernest, ElVerne and Harley; and three sisters, Wilhelmina Fisher, Sophia Murphy and Lillian Jantzen.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned, with Pastor Dennis Berlin presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nekoma Cemetery.

MEADE - C. Don Goodnight died Jan. 8, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

Carol Harvey
LIBERAL - Carol Harvey, 46, died Jan. 7, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita, after an extended illness.
She was born April 11, 1953, at Honolulu, the daughter of Mitch and Beth Tucker Clemons. She graduated from Millington (Ind.) High School and had lived in Memphis, Tenn., and Denver. A Liberal resident since 1987, she worked for the city of Liberal in the water department and the city inspection office. She was a secretary to the city manager for several years, and was an EMT and a volunteer firefighter. She was also the co-owner and bookkeeper of Harvey Electric at Liberal.
She belonged to the Noon Lions Club, serving as club secretary and on the board for many years, was a member of the Area Rape Crisis Center Board and served on the Seward County Fire Board.
On May 18, 1991, she married
Joe Harvey at Liberal. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Amber DeLaine Hinson, Joplin, Mo., and Jade Harvey, Liberal; her parents; two brothers, Johnny Clemons, Brownsville, Ind., and Mitch Clemons, Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Sharon Cleveland, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandmother, Effie Tucker, Crossville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lynda Clemons.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Central Christian Church, Liberal, with the Rev. David Woods presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Burial will be in Arkalon Cemetery, Liberal.
