Jessica Taylor Mae Helm
HARPER - Jessica Taylor Mae Helm, newborn daughter of Tresa Shelton and Kevin Helm, died shortly after birth, Jan. 5, 2000, at Enid, Okla.
Survivors include: a twin brother, Drake Charles, Enid; two sisters, Rachel and Brittany Campbell, both of Enid; maternal grandmother, Tena Shelton, Anthony; paternal grandmother, Della Helm, Enid; paternal grandfather, Charles Helm, Oklahoma City; great-grandmothers, Pearl Shelton and Dorothy Fuqua, both of Anthony and Ethel Roberts, Medicine Lodge.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Attica Cemetery, with Pastor Royce Vogt presiding.

Helen L. Dirks
DODGE CITY - Helen L. Dirks, 80, died Jan. 7, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City.
She was born April 28, 1919, at Heizer, the daughter of Charles and Linda Fenn Neuforth. A Dodge City resident since 1952, moving from Heizer, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, and was a volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, Senior Friends, and the Dodge City Senior Center.
On Dec. 12, 1943, she married
Otto Dirks at Albert. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Fred, Moline, Ill., and Carl, Wichita; a daughter, Karen Stewart, Easton; a sister, Lucile Miller, Macksville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Neuforth.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, with the Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.
Memorials may be sent to the church or the senior center, both in care of the funeral chapel.
Lavera A. Stineman-Good
NEWTON - Lavera A. Stineman-Good, 86, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.
She was born April 2, 1913, at Newton, the daughter of James D. and Inez B. Elder Hall. She graduated from Newton High School in 1931. A longtime Newton resident, she retired from the J.C. Penney Co. in 1982.
She belonged to First Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and the church board of directors. She also served on the Harvey County Election Board.
On Aug. 16, 1932, she married
Oliver E. Stineman at Wellington. He died Oct. 8, 1984. On Feb. 9, 1992, she married
Ralph G. Good at Newton. He died Feb. 22, 1992.
Survivors include: three sons, Gordon and Dick, both of Newton, and John, Pratt; four sisters, Maxine Ropp, Halstead, Bobby Stineman, Davenport Iowa, Fern Lingnau, Ponca City, Okla., and Edith Harper, Chevy Chase, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Ann Stineman; two brothers, Gene and Verlin Hall; and a sister, Ruth Van Horn.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Geneva I. Unruh
NEWTON - Geneva I. Unruh, 82, died Jan. 8, 2000, at the Bethesda Home, Goessel.
She was born Aug. 15, 1917, at Great Bend, the daughter of John Allen and Ella Unruh Schmidt Unruh. She was a CMA at Larned State Hospital for 20 years.
She belonged to Faith Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 25, 1936, she married
Harvey Unruh at Coldwater. He died in 1988.
Survivors include: three sons, Darrel L. and Donovan G., both of Newton, and Dennis R., Wichita; a brother, Elmer Unruh, Protection; two sisters, Eldean Dirks, Newton, and Thelma Thomasson, Imperial, Mo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Mennonite Church, Newton, with Walter Friesen presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Bergthal Cemetery, Pawnee Rock, with Pastor Muriel Stackley presiding.

Artimus Benton `Artie' Hayse
GREENSBURG - Artimus Benton "Artie" Hayse, 96, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Hilltop House, Bucklin.
He was born March 8, 1903, at Galatia, the son of Henry Frank and Lillie Iowa Larkin Hayse. A Greensburg area resident since 1909, moving to Greensburg in 1965, he was a farmer and was the city-park caretaker for 18 years.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Greensburg.
On April 11, 1931, he married
Leona Marium Lindsay at Greensburg. She died Aug. 12, 1995.
Survivors include: four sons, Charles, Bakersfield, Calif., John, Yellowstone, Wyo., Frank, Greensburg, and Merlyn, St. Charles, Mo.; a foster son, George Reid, Greensburg; two daughters, Ann Cushenbery, Medicine Lodge, and Marjean Shuck, Topeka; a brother, Wilbur, Midland, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fleener Chapel, Greensburg, with the Rev. Willard Olinger presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fariview Cemetery, Greensburg.

Beulah Horner
ENID, Okla. - Graveside services for Beulah Horner, 82, of Enid, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Haviland Cemetery, Haviland, Kan., with Dr. Fred Johnson officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home, Enid.
Beulah was born Jan. 16, 1917, at Trousdale, Kan., the daughter of Albert and Violetta Earles Woodrum, and died at St. Mary's Hospital, Enid, Okla., Thursday, January 6, 2000.
On July 14, 1934, she married
Elton Horner. They farmed north of Haviland for many years, later moving into town. Elton preceded her in death in 1984. She worked as a cook for the Haviland Siesta Nursing Home and was a member of the Thimble Club, Farmerettes, Eastern Star and the Haviland Friends Church. In 1988, she moved to Enid, Okla., living with her granddaughter, Penny Klein, for a short time, and later residing in the Methodist Nursing Home.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Penny and husband Steve Klein, Enid, Okla., and Karri Horner-Anderson and husband Mark Anderson, Arvada, Colo.; Mary and Mel Patee, Arvada; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy and Joel Klein, Enid; Khori Horner-Anderson, Paul and Tommy Anderson, Arvada. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Arnold Horner, Jetmore; husband; parents; a brother; and a sister.

Lois E. Jacobs
SYRACUSE - Lois E. Jacobs, 76, died Jan. 6, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
She was born Feb. 11, 1923, at Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Marie Niner Jacobs. She graduated from high school in Marengo and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Drake University and her master's degree from Iowa State University. She was a journalist and worked for the Times-Republican in Marshalltown, Iowa, for 28 years as a reporter, staff writer and editor. After retiring 10 years ago, she moved to Syracuse.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Marengo, was a member and past president of the Iowa Press Women's Association, was named Woman of Achievement and received numerous other awards from this group. She also was a member and past president of the National Federation of Press Women.
Survivors include: a sister, Ruth Jones, Frankfort, Ind.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Marengo City Cemetery, with Pastor Allen Wiese presiding. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Drake University School of Journalism Scholarship Fund or to First United Methodist Church, Marengo, both in care of Greene Funeral Home, Syracuse.
