William C. Wells
GREAT BEND - William C. Wells, 97, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend.
He was born Dec. 28, 1902, at Luray, the son of James Arthur and Emma Jean Gilman Wells. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer.
He belonged to First Presbyterian Church, the Barton County Historical Society and was a life member of Elks Lodge No. 1127, all at Great Bend.
In 1928, he married
Velma Kirkpatrick at Great Bend. She died Dec. 30, 1966. On Feb. 15, 1970, he married
Grace Dorfshaffer Button at Great Bend. She died Oct. 23, 1992.
Survivors include: three stepsons, Bill, Bob and Chuck Button, all of Great Bend; nine step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Wells.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Tom Robson presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Orville Forrest `Sid' Sidman
ST. JOHN - Orville Forrest `Sid' Sidman, 87, died Feb. 11, 2000, at St. John.
He was born July 19, 1912, at St. John, the son of John Wesley and Electtray Sidman. He graduated from St. John High School. A lifetime St. John resident, he retired from the Stafford County Highway Department in 1969.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church and the Oddfellows Lodge No. 539, both at St. John.
On Aug. 17, 1933, he married
Virgie C. Rose at Pratt. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Maynard, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Gary, Great Bend; a daughter, Ronda Henderson, Wichita; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and 25 step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; Wayne J., Kenneth and J. Raymond; and three sisters, three sisters, Mary, Vernie and Ethel Sidman.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with the Rev. W. Harlan Rittgers presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.

Joseph Scott Young
LA JOLLA, Calif. - Joseph Scott Young, 84, died Jan. 20, 2000, at La Jolla, Calif.
He was a retired Episcopal priest and a former Hutchinson resident.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Michael Milliken presiding. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.

Betty Reinecker
McPHERSON - Betty Reinecker, 72, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
She was born Nov. 29, 1927, at Fredonia, the daughter of Jack O. and Myrtle E. Kenyon Edwards. A McPherson County resident since 1932, moving from Wichita, she was a secretary for McBride Oil Co. and worked as an accountant for Haury-Emery-Hill & Scherer and Keith G. Mines. She was also a bookkeeper for the NCRA Recreation Club.
She belonged to Church of the Brethren at McPherson, the Mid-America Wood Carvers Association and was a den mother for Cub Scouts Pack No.116, McPherson.
On Dec. 25, 1952, she married
Russell Lee "Buck" Reinecker at McPherson. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randall "Randy" and Douglas "Doug, " both of McPherson; a sister, Joan "Joni" Reinecker, McPherson; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Brethren, McPherson, with Dr. Don Booz presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Jane Martha Pundsack
SEWARD - Jane Martha Pundsack, 87, died Feb. 12, 2000, at Integrated Health Services of Great Bend.
She was born June 23, 1912, at Seward, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Catherine Elizabeth Doyle Pundsack. A lifetime area resident, she was a housekeeper at St. Xavier Rectory in Seward. She had been a nurse's aide at the former air base in Great Bend, was a ward clerk at St. Rose Hospital and had worked at Bayless Dry Cleaners, all at Great Bend.
She belonged to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both at Seward.
Survivors include: many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Vernon, Edward, John and Otto Pundsack; and two sisters, Marie Stoss and Lorene Keeley.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home Chapel, Great Bend. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father William Vogel presiding. Inurnment will be in St. Xavier Cemetery, Seward.
Memorials may be sent to the St. Patrick School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Lilabelle Hunt
GREAT BEND - Lilabelle Hunt, 90, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend.
She was born July 30, 1909, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Luther and Maude Mae Brown Reed. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Great Bend.
On Dec. 5, 1925, she married
Leslie Lyle Hunt at McCracken. He died Nov. 25, 1988.
Survivors include: a son, Donald, Nederland, Colo.; a daughter, Marilyn Donelan, Colby; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wiley Reed.
Private inurnment will be at a later date in Beulah Cemetery, Colby.

Landess L. Norstrom
McPHERSON - Landess L. Norstrom, 85, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
He was born Jan. 9, 1915, in Bonneville Township, west of Roxbury, the son of August E. and Ellen Pauline Carlson Norstrom. A longtime Canton resident, moving to McPherson in 1995, he was a retired mechanic for NCRA, McPherson.
He belonged to Canton United Methodist Church, Canton American Legion Post No. 192 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, McPherson.
On Sept. 4, 1940, he married
Nerine Milleson at Minneapolis. She survives at Sterling House, McPherson.
Other survivors include: a son, Lanny L., Galva; a sister, Bonnie Reese, McPherson; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Milton; and two sisters, Mildred Steinmetz and Lola Anderson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Canton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sandy DesPlas presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Olson's Mortuary, Canton. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery.
