John Manuel Medina
LARNED - John Manuel Medina, 78, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
He was born March 8, 1921, at Rawlins, Wyo., the son of Andrez and Mathilda Navaro Medina. A Larned resident since 1974, moving from Topeka, he was a retired machine operator for Fuller Brush.
He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both at Larned.
On Feb. 2, 1948, he married
Della Iona Forsgren at Aztec, N.M. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, John G., Larned; four daughters, Della Burris, Larned, Virginia Hoberecht, Wichita, Eunice Doty, Klamath Falls, Ore., and Della Duran, Las Vegas; a sister, Margaret Reetz, Reno, Nev.; 19 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Gilbert and Ben; and a sister, Barbara Sandoval.
Wake service and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Morrell Funeral Home, Larned, with Father Robert A. Schremmer presiding. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Dennis Reed presiding. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.

Victor A. Hinnergardt
DODGE CITY - Victor A. Hinnergardt, 83, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Western Plains Regional Hospital, Dodge City.
He was born March 8, 1916, at Bazine, the son of Frederick and Christina Keil Hinnergardt. A Dodge City resident since 1990, formerly of Brownell and rural Bazine, he was a farmer.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Bazine.
On Aug. 21, 1939, he married
Elsie Mickeal at Bazine. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jim, Liberal, and Kenneth and Freddy, both of Dodge City; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Ben and Gus; and three sisters, Katie, Margheim and Christina Weber.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Bazine, with the Rev. Barbara Patterson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Bazine Cemetery.

Mary Pearl Forbes
GREAT BEND - Mary Pearl Forbes, 93, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Great Bend.
She was born Aug. 17, 1906, at Chickasha, Okla., the daughter of Emory Tabert and Amanda Jane Billings Bailey. She attended Keifer, Okla., schools. A longtime Great Bend resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Eastside Southern Baptist Church, Great Bend.
On Nov. 1, 1933, she married
James Oliver Forbes at Chickasha. He died June 16, 1985.
Survivors include: a brother, William C. Bailey, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and a sister, Bessie L. Uhl, Tahlequah, Okla.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James K. and Charles W. Bailey; and two sisters, Dora Bailey and Margaret B. Burk.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Fryberger Mortuary, Great Bend, with the Rev. Julius Ellis presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.

Nadine E. Shoffner
CALDWELL - Nadine E. Shoffner, 75, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Wichita.
She was born April 5, 1924, in Sumner County, the daughter of Leslie and Jennie Templeton Rains. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Assembly of God Church, Caldwell.
On July 1, 1947, she married
Dale Shoffner at Blackwell, Okla. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Larry, Grove, Okla., and Danny, Corbin; three daughters, Kathy Getz and Beverly Niehus, both of Grove, and Patty Lebeda, Medford, Okla.; a brother, Winifred Rains, Republic, Mo.; two sisters, Maxine White and Thelma Gardner, both of Caldwell; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church, Caldwell, with the Rev. Rick Burcham presiding. Burial will be in Caldwell Cemetery.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Arita D. Stark, 59, died Jan. 28, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1940, at Ellsworth, the daughter of Robert and Doris Sneath.
She married
Eulan D. Stark. He survives.

KINGMAN - June Mercedese Ozbirn, 78, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Hutchinson.
She was born Feb. 3, 1921, at Enid, Okla., the daughter of Squire Newton and Ada Derrick Ozbirn.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Caldwell City Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Price presiding.
