Harvey Waltner
PRETTY PRAIRIE - Harvey Waltner, 94, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson.
He was born May 10, 1905, at Pretty Prairie, the son of Joe N. and Carrie Waltner. A lifetime Pretty Prairie resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie.
On Feb. 18, 1930, he married
Anna Krehbiel at Pretty Prairie. She died in 1997.
Survivors include: two sons, Eugene and Alan, both of Pretty Prairie; a daughter, Betty Krehbiel, Hutchinson; a brother, Art, Newton; a sister, Della Graber, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin; and a sister, Bertha Krehbiel.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, with Pastor Lester Zook presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, and the family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, both at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A. Calvin Johnson
PRATT - A. Calvin Johnson, 84, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Jewell County, the son of Levi and Emma F. Pontius Johnson. He was a retired Friends Church minister, serving in Carthage, Mo., Walsh, Colo., and Byers for more than 40 years, and was a former Pratt County clerk.
He belonged to Pratt Friends Church.
On Aug. 6, 1936, he married
Lois A. Rutz at Booker, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Arlene Johnson, Wichita, Eloise Brightup, St. Louis, Sheryl Schoonover, Byers, and Aletha Camunez, Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Ruth Grub, Fowler, and Alice and Myrtle Boschult, both of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pratt Friends Church, with Pastor Donald Mutton and Chaplain John Havens presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, Pratt. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.

John Arthur Pfaff
McCRACKEN - John Arthur Pfaff, 93, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus.
He was born Dec. 28, 1906, at Ellis, the son of Alston and Ella Hannemann Pfaff. A McCracken resident for 65 years, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Bazine.
On Aug. 28, 1934, he married
Silvinia Hammerschmidt at Ellis. She died April 26, 1978.
Survivors include: six sons, Walter, Banning, Calif., Roy, McCracken, Glenn, Leon and Ralph, all of Brownell, and Bennie, Yukon, Okla.; six daughters, Lucille Young, Ness City, Betty Miller, Ellinwood, Laura Morgan, McCracken, Hazel Oppel, Kingfisher, Okla., Eileen Backstrom, Great Bend, and Rebecca Kinyon, Holcomb; 37 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Mask and Nancy Rose Pfaff; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in La Crosse Cemetery.

Robert E. Osborn
STAFFORD - Robert E. Osborn, 85, died Jan. 18, 2000, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford.
He was born July 14, 1914, at Latham, the son of Charles L. and Edith Baker Osborn. He attended Zenor Country School, north of Stafford. A Stafford resident for most of his life, he was a mechanic and ranch hand.
He was a life member of the Stafford American Legion Post and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
On Sept. 11, 1951, he married
Ruth Davis at St. John. She survives.
Other survivors include: two brothers, William Eldon, Sacramento, and Charles Alan, Stafford; a sister, Reitha Lucille Alpers, Phillipsburg; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Russell.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford, with the Rev. Kasey Crosby presiding. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Hudson.

Gertrude Mary `Trudy' Woolbright
DODGE CITY - Gertrude Mary "Trudy" Woolbright, 98, died Jan. 16, 2000, at her home in Topeka.
She was born May 20, 1901, at Dodge City, the daughter of Thomas W. and Ellen H. Wells Bell. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1922 and attended college at Emporia State and Fort Hays State universities. A Topeka resident since 1987, moving from Dodge City, she was a rural schoolteacher and had worked in the Dodge City High School cafeteria.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Dodge City, where she was once a deaconess.
She married
James William Woolbright II. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, William, Berryton; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; two step-great-grandsons; a step-great-granddaughter; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. David S. Clipson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.

Lora L. Williams
MEDICINE LODGE - Lora L. Williams, 79, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Nov. 22, 1920, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of John R. and Mary A. Jarret Cullison. A lifetime Medicine Lodge resident, she was an assistant custodian at United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge.
In 1940, she married
Roy A. Williams at Medicine Lodge. He died in October 1978.
Survivors include: three sons, Lloyd A., Pawnee Rock, Don E., Hutchinson, and Robert D., South Hutchinson; a brother, John S. Cullison, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, John, Ray and Roy; a brother, Benny Cullison; and two sisters, Mamie Hamilton and Sylvia Shriner.
There will be no services. Private burial of cremains will be at a later time in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
