Pauline Hall
WICHITA - Pauline Hall, 91, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Wichita.

She was born March 10, 1908, in Harper County, the daughter of John James and Artie Lee Reid Bettis. She was a retired teacher and homemaker.

She belonged to the Church of God.

In June 1930 she married Lawrence Hall. He died in 1984.

Survivors include: two sisters, Margaretta Kennedy and Evelyn Pickerill, both of Wichita.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Home, Anthony. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Faith Publishing House or to Hospice Inc., both in care of the funeral home.

Roger G. Hornbaker

DARLOW - Roger G. Hornbaker, 74, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Nov. 25, 1925, at Darlow, the son of Vernon W. and Laura Rundell Hornbaker. He graduated from Partridge High School in 1947. A lifetime Darlow resident, he was a retired farmer and stockman.

He belonged to Community Church of the Brethren.

On June 4, 1953, he married Alice M. Flory in Iowa. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Larry, Wichita, Paul and Lowell, both of Hutchinson; a daughter, Patricia McKenzie, Wichita; two brothers, Gerald, Hutchinson, and Melvin, Darlow; four sisters, Opal Fry, Hutchinson, Hazel Rogers, Richardson, Texas, Esther White, Pratt, and Evelyn Smith, Bolivar, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent and Ferris; and four sisters, Ruth Blew, Velma Querfeld, Dorothy Hornbaker and Edith Holderread.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Community Church of the Brethren, Hutchinson, with the church ministry team presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, and 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow.

Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the mortuary.

Lincoln L. Unruh
MONTEZUMA - Lincoln L. Unruh, 101, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma.

He was born, Oct. 13, 1898, in Marion County, the son of Isaac P. and Lena Jantz Unruh. A Montezuma resident for 11 years, formerly of Copeland, he was a farmer.

He belonged to Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland.

On May 17, 1920, he married Elda Unruh at Enid, Okla. She died Jan. 7, 1993.

Survivors include: eight sons, Marvin, Quinter, Leslie and Arnold, both of Copeland, Orlan, Dodge City, Norman, Macon, Miss., Charles R., Ulysses, Delbert, Scio, Ore., and Gary L., Hartley, Texas; eight daughters, Elsie M. Koehn, Montezuma, Irene Koehn, Galva, Lorene Nichols, Ladena Nightengale and Berniece Deann Koehn, all of Copeland, Celesta Koehn and Geneva Nightengale, both of Brooksville, Miss., and Nora Fiesen, Aberdeen, Miss.; two brothers, Sam I., Montezuma, and Dewey, Barnett, Mo.; two sisters, Susanna Koehn, Montezuma and Myrtle M. Koehn, Livingston, Calif.; 68 grandchildren; 139 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ezra; three brothers, Ezra, Harvey and Clyde; two sisters, Minnie Unruh and Alda Dirks; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland, with Ministers Steve Unruh, Sam Unruh Jr. and Verle Yost presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, all at Montezuma Funeral Home, Montezuma, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Copeland.

Memorials may be sent to Bethel Home Inc., in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth A. Naegele
STERLING - Elizabeth A. Naegele, 87, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Memorial Home, Moundridge.

She was born May 16, 1912, at Laverne, Okla., the daughter of Stephen G. and Idabell Hall Grimes. A Sterling resident since 1986, formerly of Salina, she was a retired food-service supervisor and private nurse for Anderson County Hospital, Garnett, and St. John's Hospital, Salina.

She belonged to United Methodist Church, Sterling.

In 1933, she married Roy E. Shelinbarger at Laverne, Okla. He died in 1934. In 1940, she married H.E. Cirkel at Pratt. He died in 1970. In 1976, she married John Naegele at Salina. He died in 1979.

Survivors include: a daughter, Joan Wedel, Newton; stepchildren, including Loretta Glenn, Lawrence; three brothers, Daniel L. Grimes, Jet, Okla., William B. Grimes, Mancos, Colo., and Elmer Walter Grimes, Chanchannon, Ill.; a sister, Fleeta Love, Coldwater; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John O. and Thomas B. Grimes; a sister, Ida Bell Carder; two granddaughters; and three infant siblings.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. James Graves presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Resident Transportation Fund at Memorial Home, Moundridge, in care of the funeral home.

Edd D. Murray
LAKIN - Edd D. Murray, 88, died Jan. 16, 2000, at High Plains Retirement Village, Lakin.

He was born March 15, 1911, in Sherman County, the son of Percival and Annie Kolacny Murray. He attended Sherman County schools. He worked for area farmers and was an amateur boxer in Sherman County. In 1934, he moved to Kearny County to work for Sledd Farms. He later became a farmer-stockman in Kearny County.

He belonged to United Methodist Church, was a 32nd degree Mason, was a member of Garden City Shrine Club, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Kansas Livestock Association, and was a longtime chairman of the board of Production Credit Association, Garden City.

On June 17, 1933, he married Ivah Margaret Kenny at Colby. She survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Margaret Joan Buerkle, Houston, Patricia Lou Gaylord, St. Paul, Minn., Marilyn Dell Murray, Albuquerque, and Karen K. Vincent, Lakin; a brother, Carl, Goodland; four sisters, Helen Emig, and Vida Young, both Goodland, Gladys Bohl, Lakin, and Edith Hrabe, Wellsville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Lakin, with Pastor William Salmon presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Sara F. Plenert
McPHERSON - Sara F. Plenert, 86, died Jan. 17, 2000, at The Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.

She was born Oct. 15, 1913, at rural Lehigh, the daughter of G.E. and Cornelia Friesen Epp. A McPherson resident, she was a homemaker, owned and operated the Lehigh Café and later cooked at both Bethel College and Meadowlark, Newton.

She belonged to First Mennonite Church, McPherson, and she was a former member of the Lehigh Senior Center.

On Oct. 11, 1945, she married Arnold A. Plenert at rural Hillsboro. He died May 13, 1982.

Survivors include: two daughters, Arnette Duerksen and Sarita Duerksen, both of McPherson; two stepsons, Vernon Plenert, Buhler, and Lloyd Plenert, Stillwell; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Ewert, Canton; a brother, Paul Epp, Newton; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jake and Edwin Epp; and a sister, Cornelia Nickel.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lehigh Cemetery. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church, McPherson, with the Revs. Neil Amstutz and Chris Whitacre presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson.

Memorials may be sent the church or The Cedars Health Care Center, both in care of the funeral home.
