Bennie Allen Parker
LA CROSSE - Bennie Allen Parker, 81, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.
He was born Oct. 3, 1918, at Rush Center, the son of Zema Ben and Lulu Allen Parker. A longtime Rush County resident, he served as a probate judge for eight years and as Rush County Sheriff for eight years. He also worked at Rush County Nursing Home for several years.
He belonged to First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Feb. 2, 1948, he married
Lorene Brack at Bazine. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Ann Parker and Sandra Elpers, both of La Crosse, and Gay Parker, Wichita; a brother, Fred Parker, Arvada, Colo.; four sisters, Mae Belle Hemken, Rush Center, Della Suppes, Russell, Dorothy Murphy, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Thelma Patrick, Oceanside, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian; a brother, Orville; and two sisters, Hazel Mangels and Mary Huber.
A prayer service will be at 8:30 p.m. today at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, with Pastor Maurice Schaus presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the church in care of the funeral home.
Susie Giesbrecht
HILLSBORO - Susie Giesbrecht, 93, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care Unit.
She was born March 20, 1907, at Peabody, the daughter of Jacob and Margaretha Franzen Klein. A longtime Hillsboro resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
On June 16, 1935, she married
Dan Giesbrecht at Hillsboro. He died in 1976.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beulah Smith, Houston, and Carrol Pettipiece, Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Duane Pettipiece presiding. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wichita Rescue Mission Fund, in care of the funeral chapel.
Agnes C. Gould
DODGE CITY - Agnes C. Gould, 87, died Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1912, at Ashland, the daughter of George and Alma Byrdstrome Esplund. A lifetime Dodge City area resident, she was a cook and waitress.
She belonged to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both at Dodge City.
On Sept. 1, 1979, she married
Donald D. Kreger at Dodge City. He survives.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Ann Bazil
ARKANSAS CITY - Barbara Ann Bazil, 64, died Jan. 14, 2000, at the Medicalodge East Health Care Center.
She was born April 2, 1935, at Arkansas City, the daughter of Roy and Edna M. Norris Hagan. She was a 1953 graduate of Arkansas City High School. A lifetime Arkansas City resident, she worked as a surgical technician for William Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield, for 15 years, and later was custodian for USD 470, Arkansas City, until retiring.
On June 19, 1970, she married
Carlos Bazil at Winfield. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Russell C., Winfield, and Mark L., Newkirk, Okla.; two daughters, Carla M. Reger, Arkansas City, and Miranda Whittaker, Newkirk; two brothers, Roy A. Hagan, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas A. Hagan, Arkansas City; four sisters, Lila McEwen and Collene Bailey, both of Arkansas City, Anna Weekley, Portland, and Lurlene Bogguss, San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Rachel Hockenbury and LouDel Schermerhorn.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today in Parker Cemetery, Arkansas City, with the Rev. H. Dean La Velle presiding.

Gail Arthur Colglazier
LARNED - Gail Arthur Colglazier, 78, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
He was born Jan. 12, 1922, at Radium, the son of Fred and Mary Zink Colglazier. A lifetime Pawnee County resident, he was a farmer.
He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Larned, the 11th Armored Division Association, and was a past school board member of USD 496. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On April 28, 1956, he married
Evelyn M. Giessel at Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Daniel R., Joe L. and Ray, all of Rozel; two daughters, Betty Ackerman, Offerle, and Fay Murphy, Garfield; a brother, Chester, New Orleans; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John A.; four brothers, Winchell and Louis and two infant brothers; and a grandchild.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Dennis Reed presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday and until service time Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.

Richard E. Holmes
LARNED - Richard E. Holmes, 75, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Larned Healthcare and Living Center.
He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Trego County, the son of Charles E. and Margery Gullett Holmes. A Larned resident since 1970, moving from Plains, he was a retired pharmacist.
He belonged to Plains Christian Church, the American Legion, Larned, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter, Great Bend. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On May 31, 1945, he married
Henrietta B. Parks at Great Bend. She died March 14, 1993.
Survivors include: two sons, Thomas G., Great Bend, and Dan, Wichita; three daughters, Kristine and Kathy Holmes, both of Topeka, and Belinda Holmes Egger, Olathe; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Lee; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned, with Pastor Gene Price presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Ransom Cemetery.
