Helen Irene Oller
LARNED - Helen Irene Oller, 80, died Jan. 11, 2000, at Medicalodge, Kinsley.
She was born April 18, 1919, at Pawnee Rock, the daughter of Moses C. and Lettie McKinney Oller. A lifetime resident of Stafford and Pawnee Counties, she was a cook at Hammond Holiday Home, Larned.
She belonged to United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens, both at Larned.
Survivors include: an aunt and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrel Reece; and a sister, Darline Oller.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and until service time Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pawnee Rock Cemetery.

Harry Schlickau
ARGONIA - Harry Schlickau, 90, died Jan. 10, 2000, at Independence, Mo.
He was born June 30, 1909, near Haven, the son of Albert and Florence Wittorf Schlickau. An Argonia resident since 1942, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Argonia.
On Oct. 25, 1936, he married
Lucille Raymond at Haven. She died Aug. 10, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, John, Argonia; a daughter, Jane Ann Clark, Independence, Mo.; a brother, George, Haven; a sister, Opal Knappenberger, Hutchinson; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Mellies.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Argonia, with Daryl Bahn officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Argonia Mortuary. Burial will be in Argonia Cemetery.

Jack D. Herndon
MEDICINE LODGE - Jack D. Herndon, 85, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt.
He was born Nov. 29, 1914, at Paruna, Okla., the son of Charles B. and Lonora M. Knierihm Herndon. A Medicine Lodge resident since 1945, formerly of Protection and Wilmore, Okla., and a Pratt resident for one year, he was a retired electrician and worked at Dickies Appliance, Rinke Electric and Multi-Media Cable TV, all at Medicine Lodge.
He belonged to United Methodist Church and was a life member of Veterans of the Foreign Wars, both at Medicine Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On July 22, 1984, he married
Marta J. Gilmore at Pratt. She survives.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Jim Godbey presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, all at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.

Lester W. Colle
STERLING - Lester W. Colle, 94, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.
He was born Nov. 21, 1905, at Sterling, the son of John Sr. and Anna M. Kolb Colle. A lifetime Sterling resident, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to Midland United Church of Christ, Sterling, and the Rice County Historical Society.
He married
Alma Cooper. On June 4, 1972, he married
Norma F. Roynon Gibbel at Hemet, Calif. She died March 20, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Larry, California; a sister, Lillian Colle-Campbell, California; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Midland United Church of Christ, rural Sterling, with the Rev. William Best presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Clyde O. Stone
SEDGWICK - Clyde O. Stone, 63, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born June 7, 1936, at Minneota, Minn., the son of Clarence Orlando and Delia Ellison Stone. A longtime Sedgwick resident, he was a machinist for 3-Way Pattern, Wichita.
He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, and the Flood Control Committee, Sedgwick. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1962.
On May 29, 1965, he married
Irene Dickerson at Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas A., Newton, and Kenneth P., Sedgwick; a daughter, Maryann Base, Halstead; two sisters, Dana Bachman, New Hampton, Iowa, and Carol Nichols, Schertz, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Harold; and a sister, Evelyn Helgeson.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs. Ken Schuckman and James O'Shea presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Steve Harper
NEWTON - Steve Harper, 55, died Feb. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 26, 1944, at Newton, the son of Merriam Mears Merrell and stepfather Paul Stapleton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1962 and Brooks Institute of Fine Arts and Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was an instructor of photojournalism at Wichita State University and photo editor and outdoor writer for the Wichita Eagle newspaper.
On Dec. 21, 1978, he married
Charlotte Settles at Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Alicia Fulmer and Audrey and Rachel Harper, all of Newton; mother, Newton; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Esther Stettinger
GREAT BEND - Esther Stettinger, 76, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, Great Bend.
She was born March 27, 1923, in Russell County, the daughter of G. Fred and Helene Stoppel Mai. A lifetime resident of Barton and Russell counties, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, and was a former Sunday school superintendent and Ladies Aide Auxiliary member at Bender Hill Church, rural Russell County.
On April 20, 1941, she married
Leonard Stettinger in Russell County. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, John, Great Bend; two daughters, Carlene Landis, Lititz, Pa., and Linda Burhenn, Lawrence; three sisters, Frieda Karst and Nadine Albrecht, both of Russell, and Judy Scheck, Hays; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Mai Sr.; and an infant granddaughter.
Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, with Pastor Kelly Taylor Schaus presiding.
