Alice I. Cooper
WINFIELD - Alice I. Cooper, 90, formerly of Winfield, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1909, in Buffalo, the daughter of Omer and Ollie Fulmer Cook. She attended schools in the Buffalo area. She had lived in Winfield since 1947. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Grace United Methodist Church and the Winfield Country Club.
On April 17, 1933, she married
H. Don Cooper. He died May 23, 1982.
Survivors include: a sister, Opal Jones, Inman; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swisher-Taylor-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Winfield, with the Rev. Jere Nolte presiding. Burial will be in Highland, Cemetery, Winfield.

Leora Pelton
NEWTON - Leora Pelton, 97, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.
She was born May 27, 1902, at Fostoria, the daughter of Thomas Nelson and Julia Brennan Martin.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Newton.
On April 11, 1953, she married
Harold Pelton at Topeka. He died in 1958.
Survivors include: a son-in-law, Gary K. Ash, Newton; a grandson, Trent Ash, Newton; two granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lee Ash.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Presbyterian Manor Chapel, Newton, with Chaplain Charles Kaufman presiding. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

Arthur E. Mortimer
ANTHONY - Arthur E. Mortimer, 98, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Harper.
He was born July 22, 1901, at Bluff City, the son of Walter and Mary Hatfield Mortimer. A longtime area resident, he was retired from Santa Fe Railroad.
On Oct. 30, 1927, he married
Neva Bernice Wolley at Anthony. She died Jan. 10, 1982.
Survivors include: two daughters, Gaye Scott, Anthony, and Elgene Green, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, six brothers and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluff City. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home, Anthony.

Herbert C. Cooper
ARGONIA - Herbert C. Cooper, 81, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Wichita.
He was born March 27, 1918, at Freeport, the son of Francis C. and Sarah Maude Medlam Cooper. A longtime area resident, he was a retired mechanic and farmer.
He belonged to Freeport Presbyterian Church.
On Oct. 30, 1949, he married
Lois Jean Arb at Corwin. She died Jan. 12, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, Howard, Ponca City, Okla., and Dennis, Argonia; a brother, Clifford, Anthony; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home, Anthony. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Singer Cemetery, Bluff City.

Paul Marcus Tafolla
WAMEGO - Paul Marcus Tafolla, 31, formerly of Newton and Hutchinson, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Topeka.

James Alfred Mickle Sr.
TOPEKA - James Alfred Mickle Sr., 71, died Feb. 5, 2000, at the United Methodist Home, Topeka.
He was born Dec. 11, 1928, at Mulvane, the son of Ernest Joe and Mildred E. Hergert Mickle. A Topeka resident for 15 years, moving from Hoisington, he was an electronic tech working for Boeing and Learjet, both of Wichita, and Essex of Hoisington.
He belonged to the Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, York Lodge No. 57 and the Midian Shrine Temple, all at Wichita, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1650 and American Legion Post No. 400, both at Topeka. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
On June 26, 1960, he married
Mary McDonald at Wichita. She survives. On June 3, 1998, he married
Yolanda Swenson at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Jr. and John, both of Hoisington; two daughters, Mary Anne Aguilera, Chase, and Sheila Anne Mickle; a sister, Virginia Fowler, Alex, Okla.; and 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven, and infant David Curtis.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, with the Rev. Larry Weatherman presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

Ruth Corman Allen
LIBERAL - Ruth Corman Allen, 65, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born May 5, 1934, at Clifton, the daughter of Hugh Lee Sr. and Anna Peterson Corman. A Liberal resident since 1962, she was a homemaker.
On Dec. 23, 1956, she married
Kenneth D. Allen at Clifton. He survives.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Hugh Lee Corman Jr., Lake Dallas, Texas, and Edwin Corman, Clifton; and a sister, Neva Brown, Fairbury, Neb.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Corman; a sister, Virginia Corman Johnson; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in IOOF Cemetery, Clifton. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch Funeral home, Liberal.
