Herbert W. Boehlke
MOUNT HOPE - Herbert W. Boehlke, 85, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Hutchinson.
He was born July 25, 1914, at Blue Hill, Neb., the son of Henry H. and Anna Marie Sophie Witthuhn Boehlke. A resident of Mount Hope, he was a plumber.
On Sept. 8, 1940, he married
Alice Morris at Mount Hope. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Morris, Mount Hope; a brother, Richard, Kinsley; a sister, Minnie Boehlke, Dodge City; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Federated Church, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Daniel Ensz presiding.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, the church, or to Mount Hope EMT, in care of Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Mount Hope.
Betty M. Hanson
LIBERAL - Betty M. Hanson, 73, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.
She was born March 10, 1926, at Clyde, the daughter of Edward and Delia LeClair Beauregard. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1944. A Liberal resident since 1951, she worked at Citizens State Bank, Liberal, for 41 years, holding various offices before retiring in 1997.
She belonged to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Liberal.
On Aug. 8, 1945, she married
Marion L. Hanson at Concordia. He died Jan. 13, 1992.
Survivors include: a son, Larry, Shreveport, La.; a daughter, Susan K. Gooch, Liberal; a brother, Leo Beauregard, El Dorado; a sister, Leda Desbrow, Ellsworth; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Chapel, Liberal, with Father Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.

Bert O. Williams
WINFIELD - Bert O. Williams, 97, died Jan. 30, 2000, at Blackwell, Okla.
He was born Oct. 31, 1902, in rural Leady, Okla., the son of William H. and Belinda Verna Close. A Blackwell resident since 1995, moving from the Good Samaritan Village, Winfield, he retired from the APCO Refinery, Arkansas City, in 1967.
He belonged to the Baptist Church, where he served as a Gospel minister. He served churches in Perry, Okla., and Bazine before retiring.
On Dec. 18, 1949, he married
Wilma A. Sherrill at Tonkawa, Okla. She died July 5, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons; four daughters; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Cemetery, Winfield. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.

Therese Dawn Manweiler
LAWRENCE - Therese Dawn Manweiler, 38, died Jan. 29, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 11, 1961, at Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of James and Nina Marcom Kavanaugh. A Lawrence resident, she was president of Fundamental Technology and a graphics designer at Interconnect Devices, Kansas City, Kan.
She belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence.
On May 30, 1987, she married
Jerry W. Manweiler at Hoisington. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence. Additional services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Hoisington. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Burial will follow the services in Hoisington City Cemetery.

Nolan Petty
GARDEN CITY - Nolan Petty, 78, died Jan. 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born April 25, 1921, at Cimarron, the son of John William and Thelma Naylor Petty. He attended schools at Cimarron. A Garden City resident since 1975, formerly of Lebo, he worked as a welder at Palmer Manufacturing for more than 20 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include: a brother, Roy, Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Mary Downtain, Garden City, and Fern Rogers, Denver; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Janet Hernandez presiding. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be sent to the Golden Belt Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
Fern Showalter
TUCSON, Ariz. - Fern Showalter, 84, died Jan. 27, 2000.
She is survived by her son, Rick "Cookie" Showalter, of Moab, Utah; granddaughters, Clarissa `Jon' Van Meter Watson, of Tucson, Ariz., and Tami Steven, of Wichita; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 53 years, Leo Showalter, in 1994. Her daughter, Beth Showalter, died in 1980.
Graveside service, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery, Tucson.

Mildred Maurine `Milly' Johns
JOHNSON CITY - Mildred Maurine "Milly" Johns, 77, died Friday, January 28, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Topeka.
She was born Dec. 4, 1922, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Harold D. and Hazel Yates House. She attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia, and taught elementary grade school in the Penalosa area.
She was a housewife, a member of the United Methodist Church, Johnson City, and was involved in the Republican Party as a Stanton County Kansas Federation Republican Women officer, Stanton County Republican Party Chairwoman and Chairman, Precinct Committee Woman for Stanton Township. Milly served as Stanton County Campaign Chairman for many successful local, state and national Republican politicians including Gov. Bill Graves, Senator Pat Roberts and Congressman Jerry Moran.
She had diabetes and had been a test patient for the initial use of Bio-synthetic Human Insulin.
On Jan. 24, 1942, she married
Julius Jesse Johns in Morton County. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1999.
Survivors include: a son, Douglas D. Johns, Johnson City; two sisters, Georgia Smith, Hutchinson, Helen Marie Varney, Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Jason R. Johns, Angers, France, Logan D.K. Johns, Austin, Texas, Julie M. Johns, Phoenix, Ariz., Amanda D. and Vera B. Johns, both of Johnson City, and Barbara D. Johns, Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Julius Lynn Johns; and two sisters, Virginia Rapp and Gwen Cockrum.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Februray 5, 2000, at the United Methodist Church, Johnson City, with the Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding. Burial will be at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson City. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson City.
