Mary Cartwright
HILLSBORO - Mary Cartwright, 82, died Feb. 8, 2000, at Sandpiper Bay Health Care Center, Wichita.
She was born May 24, 1917, at Marion, the daughter of John J. and Mary Ratzlaff Reimer. A resident of Wichita, she was a homemaker.
In 1957, she married
Floyd M. Cartwright at Wichita. He died in 1978.
Survivors include: a son, James D. Niederhouse, Greenwood, Ind.; a daughter, Loretta J. Sellens, Wichita; a sister, Luella Jost, Hillsboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with Pastor Roy Keller presiding. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Haven of Rest Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Iva Irene Baker
LAKIN - Iva Irene Baker, 84, died Feb. 9, 2000, at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Grant County Funeral Home, Ulysses.
Willis R. `Pete' Black
HALSTEAD - Willis R. "Pete" Black, 82, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Halstead Hospital.
He was born Dec. 5, 1917, at Truscott, Texas, the son of John Calvin and Lillie Belle Hutton Black. He was a retired agricultural-seed salesman for Pioneer Seed, Funks Seed and Occidental.
He belonged to First Christian Church, Burrton, and Ruth Wilson American Legion Post No. 231, Halstead. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On June 5, 1943, he married
Alma Lee Burkett at Grand Rapids, Mich. She died June 8, 1989. On March 9, 1991, he married
Marlene Katherine Rau at Halstead. She survives.
Other survivors include: five sons, John Black, Salina, Dan Lorson, St. Simons Island, Ga., Joe Lorson, Austin, Texas, John Lorson, Hilliard, Ohio, and Tom Lorson, Indianapolis; six daughters, Willisa Ensz, Hutchinson, Debbie Pientka, Assaria, Deanna Rowland, Flower Mound, Texas, Susan Hemphill, Smolan, Veronica Fowler, Ames, Iowa, and Mary Vergenes, Lancaster, Pa.; a sister, Mildred Cook, Munday, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Burrton, with the Rev. Robert Walter presiding. Burial will be in Halstead Cemetery.

James Edward Lee
DODGE CITY - James Edward Lee, 58, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Dodge City Regional Airport.
He was born March 11, 1941, at Dodge City, the son of Barney and Velma Jewell Newman Lee. He attended Dodge City schools. A lifetime Dodge City resident, he was a laborer at a feed yard.
He belonged to the Moose Lodge, Dodge City.
In 1963, he married
Sharon Duncan. They were divorced. On Nov. 7, 1970, he married
Judy Bauer at Dodge City.
Survivors include: three sons, Jimmy Alger, Dodge City, Tim Alger, Hamburg, Germany, and Eric Lee, Jetmore; a daughter, Lisa Andrews, Dodge City; three brothers, Barnie Jr. and Charles, both of Dodge City, and Robert, Oklahoma; three sisters, Sharon Fleming, Greensburg, Sue Moran, Dodge City, and Padgie Whistler, WaKeeney; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Mitch Reece presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.

Louis Edward Davis Jr.
STAFFORD - Louis Edward Davis Jr., 77, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford.
He was born Dec. 18, 1922, at Stafford, the son of Louis Edward and Ethel Davis. A longtime Stafford resident, he was a farmhand.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sharpshooter.
Survivors include: several cousins.
The body has been donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center. There will be no services.
Minnis Chapel, Stafford, is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Donald `Don' Goodnight
MEADE - Charles Donald "Don" Goodnight, 71, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born March 30, 1928, at Ashland, the son of Olis G. Sr. and Iona McKinney Goodnight. He graduated from Englewood High School in 1946 and from the Ponca City School of Aeronautics in 1950. A lifetime resident of the Englewood and Meade area, moving to Meade in 1956, he was a pilot instructor and farmer.
He belonged to First Baptist Church, Meade, the Meade County Historical Association, served on the board of directors of the Mid-America Air Museum of Liberal, the Kansas State Historical Society and the Pioneer/Krier Museum of Ashland, was a committee member of the Harold Krier Air Show of Ashland, a co-founder of the Cowboy Heritage Festival of Dodge City, a member of the Boot Hill Museum Association of Dodge City, an honorary lifetime member of the Old Trail Drivers Association of San Antonio, and was a volunteer FAA flight-safety counselor. He served in the U.S. Navy.
On June 1, 1952, he married
Ellen Painter in rural Meade. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Dr. Gary D., Abilene, Texas, T. Kim, Dodge City, and Steven L., Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Kayla Goodnight, Phoenix; two brothers, Olis G. Jr., Englewood, and twin F. Ronald, Lakin; a sister, Lila Hays, Rolla; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, A.G. and John.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Meade, with the Rev. Harry Fink presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Meade. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Meade County Historical Society, the Liberal Air Museum or the Cowboy Heritage Festival of Dodge City, all in care of the funeral home.
E. Joseph `Joe' Blow
NEWTON - E. Joseph "Joe" Blow, 80, died Jan. 9, 2000, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born April 4, 1919, at Sciota, N.Y., the son of Elmer Joseph and Lucy Charbonneau Blow. He was a retired sales manager for Pepsi Cola.
He belonged to the American Legion, Newton. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On Dec. 25, 1942, he married
Margaret Marie Voltaw at Fort Wayne, Ind. She survives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward; two sisters; and a stepsister.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, with the Rev. James Anderson presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Peterson Funeral Home, Newton. The casket will remain closed.
Memorials may be sent to the Sedgwick County Zoo or the Harvey County Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
