NESS CITY - Bernice I. Whipple, 101, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Lane County Long Term Care, Dighton. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
Milton H. Christian
LINDSBORG - Milton H. Christian, 84, died Feb. 10, 2000, at Lindsborg Community Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1915, at Lindsborg, the son of Charles L. and Albertina E. Collins Christian. A lifetime resident of Lindsborg, he was a retired postmaster, rural mail carrier and clerk. He lived for 16 years at Cherokee Village, Ark.
He belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg, was a member of American Legion Emil Pinkall Post No. 140, Lindsborg, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715, McPherson, and had served as president of the Lindsborg Aid Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Oct. 10, 1936, he married
Hazel R. Johnson at Salina. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Sharon E. Aderman, Topeka, Linda M. Larson, Romney, W.Va., and Mary E. Stewart, Bartlesville, Okla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a half sister, Mildred Trygg Peterson.
Private family graveside service with military rites conducted by Emil Pinkall American Legion Post No. 140 will be held in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg, with the Revs. Don Hawk and David Smith presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hays Funeral Home, Lindsborg, with the family present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Kathryn M. Loewenstein
SHARON - Kathryn M. Loewenstein, 82, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 9, 1917, at Andale, the daughter of Peter J. and Marie Gossen Hommertzheim. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens, all at Sharon.
On July 5, 1941, she married
Francis George Loewenstein at Wichita. He died Jan. 30, 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert F., Burlington, Okla., and Roger L., Wichita; four daughters, Beverly K. Ricke, Harper, Jean M. Clark, Sharon, Donna M. Shinliver, Medicine Lodge, and Joan F. Shepler, Wichita; two brothers, Francis Hommertzheim, Wiley, Colo., and Jack Hommertzheim, Valley Center; three sisters, Elizabeth Loux, Salina, Pauline Lee, Wichita, and Irene Bitsche, Chickasha, Okla.; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bart and Henry Hommertzheim; and two sisters Margaret Downing and Helen Hommertzheim.
Vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Father Anthony Suellentrop presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Hilda Marie Hensiek
NASHVILLE - Hilda Marie Hensiek, 81, died Feb 11, 2000, at her home in Wichita.
She was born Sept. 18, 1918, at Nashville, the daughter of Karl "Charles" Albert and Ella Pauline Kahmeyer Pagenkopf. A lifetime resident of the Nashville community, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, both at Nashville.
On Nov. 14, 1937, she married
Erwin Herman John Hensiek at Nashville. He died June 16, 1994.
Survivors include: a daughter, Violet Harding, Wichita; four sisters, Irene Owen, Wichita, Eleanor Mattal, Nashville, Goldie Dicke, Medicine Lodge, and Charlotte Zimbleman, Littleton, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Erwin Gene.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Nashville, with Pastor Paul Beyer presiding. Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

John D. Sommers
POTWIN - John D. Sommers, 88, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater.
He was born May 29, 1911, in the Elbing-Peabody area, the son of Abraham and Rosa Mosiman Sommer. He was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to Potwin Christian Church.
On Aug. 17, 1933, he married
Dorothy N. Mead at El Dorado. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Richard L., Emporia, Paul M., Salina, and Bill G., Greenville, Texas; a daughter, Sue Jackson, Potwin; a sister, Marian Regier, Elbing; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John L.; three brothers, Sam, Jonathan and Si; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Potwin Christian Church, with the Rev. Rick McNary presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today and 2 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Bob Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Peggy Paul
NEWTON - Peggy Paul, 70, died Feb. 11, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 30, 1929, at Newton, the daughter of William P. and Marie Dick Wiens. A Newton resident, she worked at Montgomery Ward, Newton, and Norcraft.
She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Newton, where she was club manager for many years.
On April 24, 1954, she married
Earl F. Paul at Newton. He died April 3, 1967.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Smith and Earlene Cannon, both of Newton; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Paul; and two brothers, Kenneth and Norman Wiens.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Mennonite Church, Newton, with Pastor Rusty Bonham presiding. GREAT BEND - Dolores I. Estes, 76, died Feb. 9, 2000, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford.
She was born April 28, 1923, at Neodesha, the daughter of Eugene and Pearl Brizendine Jaynes. A Great Bend resident since 1947, moving from Neodesha, she was a secretary for Elliott's Transfer and Storage until her retirement.
She belonged to First Christian Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both at Great Bend.
On March 5, 1943, she married
Arlie C. Estes at Tulsa. He died Nov. 18, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Michael, Great Bend; a daughter, Virena Walls, Vinita, Okla.; and a granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Sweaney presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

She was born April 10, 1959, at Liberal, the daughter of Dean and Janice M. Hockett Drum. She attended Liberal schools and was a homemaker.
She married
Gary Wagonseller.
Survivors include: companion, Randy J. Schenkel, Liberal; three daughters, Misti Reeves, Plains, and Cristy and Nicole "Coey" Wagonseller, both of Liberal; her parents, Liberal; two brothers, Doug, Moscow, and Todd, Neosho, Mo.; a sister, Debbie Eikenberry, Moscow, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
