Fidelia Mary Brungardt
VICTORIA - Fidelia Mary Brungardt, 83, died June 8, 2000, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony, Hays.
She was born Dec. 26, 1916, at Catherine, the daughter of Anton A. and Pauline Grabbe Karlin. A lifetime Victoria resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the Christian Mothers, all at Victoria.
On Nov. 18, 1940, she married
Herman J. Brungardt at Walker. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Gerald "Jerry, " Victoria; a daughter, Mary Davis, Hays; two sisters, Pauline Dinkel, Victoria, and Dorothy Herl, Ogallah; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Irvin J.; two brothers, Edwin and Gilbert Karlin; a sister, Helen Sander; two infant brothers, William Fidelis and Francis Karlin; and an infant sister, Mary Karlin.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers rosary at 8 p.m., all at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, with Fathers Michael Scully and John Lager presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Weldon O. Hershberger
HESSTON - Weldon O. Hershberger, 76, died June 7, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Nov. 20, 1923, at Milford, Neb., the son of Edward and Alma Stauffer Hershberger. A Hesston resident since 1953, moving from North Dakota, he was a farmer and trucker.
He belonged to Hesston Mennonite Church and served as a board member of the Wichita Rescue Mission for 40 years.
On Sept. 27, 1949, he married
Amy Janzen at Hesston. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Don, Billings, Mont., Roger, Richmond, Va., and Ron, York, Pa.; two daughters, Kathleen Nightingale, Wichita, and Sharon Taubert, Omaha; four brothers, Vilas and Tilman, both of Hesston, Erlis, North Newton, and Abner, Goshen, Ind.; four sisters, Lydia Hochstetler, Albany, Ore., Veva Garber, Goshen, Ind., Erma Janzen, Boise, Idaho, and Lila Garber, Lancaster, Pa.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Hesston Mennonite Church, with the Rev. John Murray presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., both at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, rural Hesston.

Ottus Hawkins
HARPER - Ottus Hawkins, 85, died June 7, 2000, at Wellington.
He was born March 30, 1915, at Butler, Okla., the son of Clarence and Mae McClung Hawkins. He was a retired mechanic.
He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 11449 and the American Legion Jeff Long Post No. 104, both at Harper, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On July 21, 1945, he married
Darleen Kaup at Tacoma, Wash. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gary, North Hollywood, Calif., and Michael, Harper; a daughter, Gloria Tracy, Harper; two sisters, Virginia Mathes and Mildred Allton, both of Harper; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Harper Cemetery.

Larry Gene Crites
KINGMAN - Larry Gene Crites, 62, died June 7, 2000, at his home in Kingman.
He was born Feb. 14, 1938, at Kansas City, Mo. A Kingman resident since 1985, he was a retired Dillon's employee.
On Feb. 14, 1986, he married
Elaine Sheahan at Kingman. She survives.
Other survivors include: seven stepsons, Dan, David and Kevin, all of New Port Richey, Fla., Mike, Barwick, Ga., and Ron, Gary and Dennis, all of Kingman; a stepdaughter, Kathy Anderson, Derby; 10 step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with Chaplain Frank McKinley presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman.

Ida 'Sadie' Hawkins
HARPER - Ida "Sadie" Hawkins, 91, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Harper, died June 6, 2000, at Longmont.
She was born Sept. 6, 1908, at Goddard, the daughter of William and Pearl Bruce. A resident of Longmont since 1967, she was a retired clerk and cook.
On Feb. 4, 1927, she married
Ralph Hawkins at Kingman. He died in May 1967.
Survivors include: a daughter, Wilma Byrd, Longmont; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Harper Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Funeral Home, Harper.

Ethel A. Spence
OVERLAND PARK - Ethel A. Spence, 95, died June 5, 2000, at Manor Health Care, Overland Park.
She was born July 15, 1904, at Manhattan, the daughter of Fred R. and Anna Christine Van Elst Bammes. A longtime McPherson resident, moving to Alta Vista in 1987 and to Overland Park in 1996, she was a horticulturist and custom tailor.
She belonged to First Congregational Church, Hutchinson, the Kansas Associated Garden Clubs, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 58, was a master judge of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, was a judge of the National Iris Society, was a charter member of Botanica, Wichita, and held offices in the local and national Business and Professional Womens clubs.
On Aug. 14, 1937, she married
Harry E. Spence at Manhattan. He died Aug. 1, 1962.
Survivors include: two nephews, Dwight Spence, McPherson, and E. Richard Spence, Inman; four nieces, Jeanette Douglass, San Jose, Calif., Audrey McNichols, McPherson, Betty Kinnett, Topeka, and Juanita Day, McPherson; and nine great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Floyd Bammes; and a sister, Anna Bammes.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Chapel, McPherson, with the Rev. Richard Liles presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

NORTH NEWTON - Hallie J. Lile, 94, died June 7, 2000, at Kidron Bethel Health Care, North Newton.
She was born Feb. 5, 1906, at Platte City, Mo., the daughter of William Tarlton and Emma Lee Boydston Green. She had been a Newton resident since 1942, moving from Drexel, Mo.
She belonged to Salem United Methodist Church.

William Fields. He preceded her in death. She married
John Lile. He also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three sons, Robert Fields, St. George, Utah, Alfred Fields, McGregor, Texas, and Benny Fields, Tulsa, Okla.; six daughters, Dorothy Matlock, Mesa, Ariz., Emma Northern, Colorado Springs, Colo., Goldie Detwiler, Pratt, Armentia Holinde, Enid, Okla., Hallie Lindsey, Oxnard, Calif., and Wanda White, Oklahoma City; a brother, Robert Green, Drexel, Mo.; two sisters, Gladys Davis, Independence, Mo., and Mable Brittenstein, Spring Hill; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Stultz; and a daughter, Edna Angle.

Delia Jones
DODGE CITY - Delia Jones, 93, died June 6, 2000, at Dodge City Good Samaritan Center.
She was born July 24, 1906, at Tyro, Ark., the daughter of Johnson and Lizzie Jones. A longtime Liberal resident, moving to Dodge City, she was a housekeeper and cook for many years, and also worked at the Animal Shelter, Liberal.
She belonged to Faith Pentecostal Church, Dodge City.
Survivors include: a sister, Ester Norman, Oakland, Calif.; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Willie, Peter and J.P.; and two sisters, Minnie and Mary Alice.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Liberal Cemetery, with the Rev. Bobby Love presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Kitch Funeral Home, Liberal.
Louise Caroline Elliott
LYONS - Louise Caroline Elliott, 96, died June 8, 2000, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor.
She was born May 20, 1904, at Raymond, the daughter of Louis and Mary Mellies Koch. A resident of Lyons since 1973, formerly of Alden and South Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and former telephone operator.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, both at Lyons.
On Oct. 8, 1952, she married
Hadley Elliott at Sterling. He died Oct. 12, 1972.
She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Elmer, Edward, Fred, Louis and Robert Koch.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Cindy Watson presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons. Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood.
