Wilma E. Hett
MARION - Wilma E. Hett, 83, died May 31, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.
She was born Nov. 25, 1916, at Hope, the daughter of Harvey and Nettie Lininger Bowers. A longtime Marion County resident, she was a homemaker and had been involved in 4-H.
She belonged to Youngtown United Methodist Church, Marion.
She married
Homer Hett March 22, 1940. He died May 10, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Warren, Deerfield; two daughters, Arlene Sittner, Hudson, and Ruth Snodgrass, Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, David Bowers, Marion, Wilford Bowers, Manchester, Iowa, and Dale Bowers, Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion, with Pastor Marilyn Cox presiding. Friends may call 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery, Marion.

Anna M. Sack
HAYS - Anna M. Sack, 85, died May 30, 2000, at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin.
She was born Oct. 5, 1914, at Hyacinth, the daughter of Frank P. and Maria Weigel Brungardt. She attended Hyacinth schools. She was a noodle maker and homemaker.
She belonged to St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Altar Society, Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella, and was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary, all of Hays.
She married
Peter P. "Pete" Sack, November 6, 1939, at Hays. He died May 26, 1983.
Survivors include: a son, Gary S., Hays; four daughters, Carol Meier, Elaine Sack, both of Bakersfield, Calif., ; Karen Burden, Lakin, Yvonne Randolph, Garden City; brother, Bonnie, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Helen Hertel, Russell, Clara Sack, Hays, Celestine Meis, Denver; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Peter F., Fred, Richard and Killian; and three sisters, Catherine Sander, Regina Pfeifer and Rose Schmidt.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Hays with Father Mike Helm and Father Earl Befort officiating. Friends may call 2 to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays. Altar Society and Christian Mothers rosary will be 4:30 p.m., Eagles Auxiliary service will be 6 p.m., Daughters of Isabella rosary will be 6:30 p.m., and parish vigil service will be 7 p.m., all today at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Margaret Klassen
DODGE CITY - Margaret Klassen, 90, died May 30, 2000, at Trinity Manor, Dodge City.
She was born Dec. 19, 1909, at Hillsboro, the daughter of David B. and Maria Friesen Duerkson. She attended Hillsboro schools and was a homemaker.
She married
Herman J. Klassen on Sept. 5, 1928 at Goessel. He died December 5, 1973.
Survivors include: six sons, Amos D., Miltonvale, David L., Seligman, Mo., Durward A., San Antonio, Herman James, Corpus Christi, Texas, Thomas D., Dodge City, Titus D., Ponca City, Okla.; daughter, Rose Green, Crockett, Texas.; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ora Dale, Raymond D.; two brothers; and three sisters.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Hillside Cemtery, Kinsley, with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Friends may call 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.

Fred W. Sherman
NEOLA - Fred W. Sherman, 95, died May 30, 2000, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford.
He was born Jan. 26, 1905, at Neola, the son of Harry and Rose Nelson Sherman. A lifetime resident of Neola, he farmed until 1942, when he became manager of the Neola Elevator.
He was a member of the Stafford Church of Christ. He was a musician, playing the piano and accordion. He was the leader of the "Fred Sherman and His Boys" Band, and was a charter member of the Stafford Optimist Club.
On June 3, 1928, he married
Geneva O'Neil at Penalosa. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Estol Coen and Florence Holmes, both of Turon; a sister, Maude Crotts, Penalosa; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice Sherman, and three brothers.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stafford Church of Christ, with Darrel Murphy presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be in Neola Cemetery.

Cecil A. Miller
QUINTER - Cecil A. Miller, 82, died May 30, 2000, at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit, Quinter.
He was born Dec. 15, 1917 in Hodgemen County, the son of Allen and Lois Koontz Miller. A graduate of Hanston High School in 1935, he attended Fort Hays State University. He was a farmer and stockman, and later worked at the Quinter Public Schools as a custodian.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Hanston, Norton, and Dodge City Co-Op Associations.
On Aug. 9, 1945, he married
Amy Pendleton in Denver. She preceded him in death.
Surivors include: a son, Allen, WaKeeney; six daughters, Patricia Pfaff, Brownell, Mary Wentz, Norcatur, Marla Ruth, Almena, Cecilia Miller, Topeka, Donna Moody, Hays, Kristina Harkness, Andover; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James "Jimmy"; two brothers, Virgil and Vernon; and sister, Jennie Robbins.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, at The Church of the Brethren, Quinter, with Pastor Achile Bourquin presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Church of the Brethren. Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Fairmount Cememtery, Jetmore., with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 290, Jetmore.

Thomas B. Stambaugh
SEDGWICK - Thomas B. Stambaugh, 76, died May 28, 2000, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born June 5, 1923, in California, the son of Mortimer Gayle and Estelle Anna Elfring Stambaugh. A longtime resident of California, he was employed for more than 30 years by Lockheed-Martin Burbank in the Kelly Skunkworks on the SR-71 Blackbird and the U-2 spy planes.
On June 4, 1977, he married
Frances Freeman at Las Vegas. She died Aug. 25, 1981. He later married
Marilyn Zeeman.
Survivors include: four sons, Michael Burnett Sr., Newton, Matthew Stambaugh, Canyon Country, Calif., John Van Houten, Waldorf, Md., and Thomas Stambaugh, Chatsworth, Calif.; a daughter, Cynthia Burnett, Newton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with Father Floyd McKinney presiding. Friends may sign the guest book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Virginia E. Warren
MEDICINE LODGE - Virginia E. Warren, 75, died May 31, 2000, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 2, 1924, at Fort Dodge, Kan., the daughter of James L. and Edna Gray Barton. A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1962, moving from Eureka, she worked in the produce department of Parker's IGA Grocery at Medicine Lodge.
In 1944, she married
Charles E. Whitehead at Eureka. He died March 1, 1967. In January 1971, she married
Dale E. Warren at Medicine Lodge. He died Nov. 3, 1998.
Survivors include: two sons, William D. Whitehead, Lyons, and James D. Whitehead, Ulysses; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Robert and Earl Barton.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Tom Walters presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Margaret Alice Rhoads
DODGE CITY - Margaret Alice Rhoads, 96, died May 30, 2000, at Halsey Hall, Fort Dodge.
She was born Jan. 14, 1904, in Barber County, the daughter of George Edward and Frances Ella Cole Goff. She was a telephone operator in Medicine Lodge, moving to Durango, Colo., in 1960, and back to Dodge City in 1976.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, Dodge City.
She married
Clyde A. Rhoads on March 28, 1925, at Medicine Lodge. He died Dec. 15, 1990.
Survivors include: a brother, Edward Donald, Dodge City, and guardian, Max McCulough, Dodge City.
Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Friday in Greencrest Cemetery, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, is in charge of arrangements.
