Carl Thielen
WILSON - Carl Thielen, 85, died March 6, 2000, at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth.
He was born Feb. 8, 1915, at Dorrance, the son of Fred and Mary Carl Thielen. A resident of Wilson, he was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Wilson.
On Nov. 28, 1935, he married
Verna Whitmer at Russell. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Nick, Olathe; two daughters, Nancy Gieber, Randolph, N.J., and Margery Lawson, Sylvan Grove; two sisters, Loretta Dunahue, Houston, and Mary Ostmeyer, Colby; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Foster Mortuary Chapel, Wilson. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Church, Wilson, with Father Jerome Morgan presiding. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dorrance.
Memorials may be sent to the Catholic Church Building Fund or to the donor's choice in care of the mortuary.
Aaron J. Murray
MANKATO - Aaron J. Murray, 84, died March 7, 2000, at Jewell County Hospital, Mankato.
He was born Oct. 12, 1915, at Lovewell, the son of James and Nettie Diamond Murray. He graduated from eighth grade at Montrose and auctioneer school at Mason City, Iowa. A resident of the Montrose and Mankato areas, he was a farmer and auctioneer.
On Sept. 3, 1937, he married
Charlotte Fullerton at Mankato. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons; two daughters; two brothers, Merlin "Jerry", Mankato, and Charles "Jock", Garden City; two sisters; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Melby Mortuary, Mankato. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato.
Marvin E. Rouse
GARDEN CITY - Marvin E. Rouse, 50, died March 7, 2000, at Garden City.
He was born Jan. 23, 1950, at La Harpe, Ill., the son of Gerrard E. and Mary Eileen Bennett Rouse. A Garden City resident since 1972, moving from Ill., he was a professional drag racer and owner and operator of Classic Chevy Sales, Garden City.
He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.
On Dec. 31, 1999, he married
Dona J. Proehl at Garden City. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Tyler Rouse, Dodge City; a daughter, Natalie Rouse, Manhattan; his parents, Macomb, Ill.; and three sisters, Ketura Brueck, Burlington, Iowa, Loretta Thomann, Middleton, Iowa, and Ila Peterson, Galesburg, Ill.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with the Rev. E. Kim Engleking presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has occurred.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Drag Racers Association of Women in care of the funeral chapel.
Cleo Fay Matlack
BURRTON - Cleo Fay Matlack, 82, died March 8, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Aug. 2, 1917, at Burrton, the daughter of Archie and Lula May Clark Bottoms. She attended schools in Burrton and graduated from Burrton High School. A lifetime resident of Burrton, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Aurora Club, and held many offices in the church and UMW for many years.
On Oct. 31, 1937, she married
Neil Matlack at rural Burrton. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jack Douglas Matlack, Del Valle, Texas; two daughters, Carol Sue Christensen, McPherson, and Patricia Ann Blaine, Oklahoma City; a sister, Lenora Thompson, Burrton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Adrian Bottoms; and a sister, Pauline Rose.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Burrton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Ankron presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Van Campen Funeral Home, Haven. Burial will be in Burrton Cemetery.

Bernice Blanche Akers
ELKHART - Bernice Blanche Akers, 86, died March 7, 2000, at Morton County Hospital, Elkhart.
She was born Oct. 7, 1913, at Tyrone, Okla., the daughter of John C. and Anna Hiebert Peters. A resident of Elkhart since 1938, she was a partner with her husband in the Pioneer Men's Store and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Church of God, Elkhart.
On June 2, 1935, she married
Richard Lionel Akers at Turpin, Okla. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dick Akers, Elkhart, and Jerry Akers, Hays; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Church of God, Elkhart, with the Revs. Ron Crosley and Tony Siebels presiding. Calling times will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Harrell Funeral Home, Elkhart. Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery.

Leo H. Thiessen
GREENVILLE, Ohio - Leo H. Thiessen, 79, died March 7, 2000, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 4, 1920, at Lahoma, Okla., the son of Henry and Lydia Jantz Thiessen. A resident of Greenville, he was retired from Fram Corporation in Greenville.
On Sept. 4, 1947, he married
Mary Bruner. She survives at Greenville.
Survivors include: four brothers, Alfred, Fredonia, Dan and Eddie, both of Independence, and Waldo, Phoenix; a sister, Elfrieda Howard, Independence; a grandchild; and two step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Stovall.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, with the Rev. Robin Hines presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Cemetery, Moline.

SYRACUSE - Dennis L. Henry, 63, died March 8, 2000, at Hamilton County Hospital, Syracuse.

Elsie Marie Redger
CIMARRON - Elsie Marie Redger, 70, died March 7, 2000, at Garden City Airport after a sudden illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1929, in Gray County, the daughter of Henry and Julia Unruh Redger. A resident of Bethel Home since Dec. 1997, formerly of Cimarron, she was a cook at Ingalls School for 20 years.
She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Cimarron.
Survivors include: two brothers, Henry Redger Jr., Montezuma, and Donald Redger, Ingalls; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Ivan Redger; three sisters, Lois Redger, Helen Schmidt, and Bernice Ann Koehn; and two nephews.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Cimarron, with Ministers Vernon Giesbrecht, Stuart Jantzen, and Keith Ensz presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Montezuma Funeral Home, Montezuma, and from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Cimarron Cemetery.

HANSTON - Earl Miller Jr., 73, died March 7, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 12, 1926, north of Burdett, the son of Earl and Nellie Ruff Miller. A lifetime Hanston area resident, he was a farmer and worked for Northern Natural Gas Plant.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Marion TownshipCemeteryBoard, and past school board member, all of Hanston.
On June 10, 1945, he married
Virigina Marie Trauer at Burdett. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Rodney, Dodge City; two daughters, Nancy Will, Poteau, Okla., and Sandra Pedigo, Albuquerque; a brother, Jack, Golden, Colo.; three sisters, Genevieve Anderson, Winnsboro, Texas, Helen Nuckolls, Wichita, and Hope Dooley, Fernley, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Hanston, with the Rev. Gary Winget presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in Hanston Cemetery.
