Mabel H. Schmidt
WICHITA - Mabel H. Schmidt, 90, died Oct. 1, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born May 11, 1910, at Kingman, the daughter of Dave and Catherine Flickinger Schroeder. A former Newton resident, moving to Wichita nearly four years ago, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Riverside Jehovah's Witnesses, Wichita.
On June 17, 1930, she married
Alvin Roy Schmidt. He died Nov. 19, 1982.
Survivors include: a son, Alvin Jr., Wichita; a daughter, Evelyn Yakle, Newton; two brothers, Ralph Schroeder, Midway, and Lester Schroeder, Nebraska; two sisters, Viola Stucky, Kingman, and Hulda Goering, Pretty Prairie; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Caroline Schmidt and Margaret Wilson; a brother, Raymond Schroeder; and two sisters, Phoebe Naffziger and Esther Schrag.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with James Johnson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Tommy A. Sanders
DODGE CITY - Tommy A. Sanders, 59, died Oct. 1, 2000, at his home in Dodge City.
He was born June 18, 1941, at Klamath Falls, Ore., the son of Thomas A. and Betty M. Beard Sanders. A Dodge City resident since 1966, moving from Monett, Mo., he was the superintendent of public works for the City of Dodge City.
He belonged to Dodge City Church of the Nazarene and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1714, both at Dodge City. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
On Jan. 10, 1964, he married
Barbara J. Lovell at Cassville, Mo. She died Oct. 20, 1998. On Feb. 14, 1999, he married
Marcy Briney at Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jonathan Able, Dodge City; two stepsons, Phillip Briney, Dodge City, and Rick Briney, La Crosse; two step-daughters, Debbie Burnett, Dodge City, and Marilyn Ellis, Topeka; a sister, Carol Harris, Monett, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene, with Dr. Jerry Ketner and the Rev. Amer Khokhar presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with military graveside rites performed by Service Battery, First of the Fifth Field Artlillery, Fort Riley.

Marie Gatlin
BUCKLIN - Marie Gatlin, 92, died June 19, 2000, at Minneola District Hospital.
She was born June 21, 1908, in Rush County, the daughter of John and Olive Beaver Irving. A Bucklin resident since 1975, coming from El Paso, Texas, she was a retired motel manager, managing motels in El Paso, Springerville, Ariz., and Wichita.
She was a member of the Bucklin Civic Club and was a longtime volunteer at the Hilltop House Budget Shop.
Survivors include: a son, Carl Irving Bayler, Winnemucca, Nev.; a daughter, Doris Ledbetter, El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jetmore, Kan., Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Pollom presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.

Brenda Geubelle
LAKIN - Brenda Geubelle, 36, died June 19, 2000, at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin.
She was born Jan. 19, 1964, at Wichita, the daughter of Denis and Sherril Schmidt Geubelle. She attended Northview Opportunity Center, now Northview Developmental Services Inc. and Newton Public schools, she also attended Valentine and Ulysses schools. A Lakin resident since 1970, she was a resident of Southwest Development Services Inc, now Bethphage.
Survivors include: parents, Lakin; three brothers, Bryan, Hampton, Va., Doug, Lakin, and Jeff, Graham, Wash.; a sister, Krista Gorman, Fort Scott; and grandmother, Delphine Schmidt, Lakin.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakin, with Father Mike Helms presiding. Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.

LEOTI - Eva M. Wing, 62, died June 17, 2000, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
She was born Jan. 11, 1938, at Scott City, the daughter of Albert L. and Bertha M. Beach Dague. A Leoti resident since 1974, moving from Scott City, she was a homemaker and a former Sunday school teacher.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Scott City.
On April 12, 1959, she married
Paul Wing at Scott City. He died May 7, 1997.
Survivors include: three sons, Arlen, Elk City, Okla., Loren, Leoti, and Larry, Logan County; mother, Scott City; and three grandchildren.

Anna 'Annie' Nielsen
COLDWATER - Anna "Annie" Nielsen, 97, died June 18, 2000, at Pratt Regional Living Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1902 at Wilmore, the daughter of Lars and Annie Katherine Nickelson Nielsen. A lifetime resident of Comanche County, she attended Ridge Summit Country School and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1922. She was a farmer and a homemaker.
She belonged to Twin Hills HDU, Protection.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Frank, Christ, Lewis, Charles, Lester and Emery Nielsen; and four sisters, Mary Matticks, Ellen Gillet, Grace May and Mabel Upton.

Opal Faye Ellis Seifert
KINGMAN - Opal Faye Ellis Seifert, 93, died June 18, 2000, at Kingman Community Hospital.
She was born March 14, 1907, in southeast Reno County, the daughter of Clifford and Armintie Humphrey Ellis. A longtime resident of Kingman County, she was a retired employee of Knorr Schaudt Wholesale House, Barton Salt Co. and the Kingman Soil Conservation Office, all at Kingman.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Women, both at Kingman.
On June 2, 1935, she married
Leonard W. Seifert at Hutchinson. He died May 11, 1983.
Survivors include: a daughter, Beverly Nelson, Claflin; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Rollie Ellis; and a sister, Ruby Ellis.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with the Rev. Jane Brigden Graham presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman.

Lois Alma Torrance Ritchey
CHENEY - Lois Alma Torrance Ritchey, 76, died June 18, 2000 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Wichita.
She was born Oct. 8, 1923, at Cheney. She was a cook and managed several area school cafeterias.
She belonged to Trinity United Christian Church, the Christian Women's Club and the SodBusters Camping Club, all at Cheney.
On July 5, 1942, she married
Frank Ritchey at Cheney. He died Feb. 10, 1999.
Survivors include: a son, Lonnie, Topeka; four daughters, Elain Risley and Janet Klag, both of Wichita, Kathy Vogt, Valley Center, and Norma Mitzel, Panora, Iowa; and a brother, Dr. Lynn Torrance, Big Sandy, Texas.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Torrance and Ione VanLandingham.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Christian Church, Cheney, with Kent Lanterman presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, both at Lanterman Funeral Home, Cheney. Burial will be in Vinita Cemetery, Cheney.

Bill McConnell
PEORIA, Ariz. - Bill McConnell, 72, died June 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1928, at Lyons, the son of Jay Dee and Thelma Myers McConnell. He attended school at Geneseo, Nickerson, Wichita and Plainview. He was a Peoria, Ariz., resident. In 1968, he became involved in agri-business, managed Collinwood Grain Elevator, Copeland, designed and built a fertilizer plant and expanded the Monte Vista Co-op, San Luis Valley, Colo.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
On Dec. 14, 1947, he married
Phyllis Erickson. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Steven, Port Hueneme, Calif.; a daughter, Conne Myers, Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Dwight McConnell, Tampa, Fla., and Richard Boswell, Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Faye Bradley, Osborne; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Opal.
Funeral was at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Sunland Lakeside Chapel, Sun City, Ariz.
