Marie E. 'Mae' Johnson
FALUN - Marie E. "Mae" Johnson, 97, died June 17, 2000, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
She was born Nov. 15, 1902, at Falun, the daughter of Jonas and Anna Peterson Runquist. A Lindsborg resident since 1973, moving from Falun, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Falun Lutheran Church, the WELCA of the church and The Royal Neighbors.
On June 8, 1927, she married
Edgar C. Johnson at Falun. He died Feb. 20, 1990.
Survivors include: a son, Charles E., Lindsborg; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Oliver, Raymond, Paul and Lambert Runquist; and a sister, Genevieve Hinchee.
Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Falun Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg, with the Rev. Don Hawk presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., both at Hays Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church or to Bethany Home, both in care of the funeral home.
Brady Luke McNickle
STAFFORD - Brady Luke McNickle, 7, died June 17, 2000, at Stafford District Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1993, at Dodge City, the son of Keith and Sharilyn Hornbaker McNickle. A Stafford resident for four years, he would have been a second-grader at Stafford Elementary School.
He attended Stafford Church of Christ, where he was active in church activities.
Survivors include: parents, Stafford; a brother, Brennan, of the home; two sisters, Brianna and Brooke McNickle, both of the home; grandparents, Byron and Annette McNickle and Harold and Irene Hornbaker, all of Stafford, and Dave and Connie Wilson, Potwin; great-grandparents, Marlyn Scott, Manhattan, and Doris McNickle, Stafford; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stafford Church of Christ, with Aaron Arthaud and Ted Grossi presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be in Peace Creek Cemetery, rural Stafford.
Memorials may be sent to the Stafford Educational Foundation Playground Fund or the Maude Carpenter Children's Home, both in care of the funeral home.
Lanes G. Lancaster
KINSLEY - Lanes G. Lancaster, 60, died June 17, 2000, at Edwards County Hospital, Kinsley.
He was born Sept. 3, 1939, at Kinsley, the son of Fred and Emma Dolechek Lancaster. A lifetime Kinsley resident, he worked for the Edwards County Highway Department.
He belonged to the Kinsley Rotary Club and was a former member of the Kinsley Lions Club and Kinsley Kiwanis Club.
On Aug. 14, 1971, he married
Alice M. Sumpter at Kinsley. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Brian ; a daughter, Pamela Wosylus, Wichita; two brothers, Jack, Kinsley, and Marvin, Greeley, Colo.; four sisters, Vivian Feldman, JoEllen Craft and Emily White, all of Kinsley, and Luetta Katz, Offerle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Kinsley, with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at McKillip Funeral Home, Kinsley. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley.

Bill Watkins
KIOWA - Bill Watkins, 76, died June 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, at Lambert, Okla., the son of Henry C. and Estelle Fletcher Watkins. He was a 1942 graduate of Lambert High School. A Kiowa resident since 1948, he was a farmer and carpenter.
He belonged to United Methodist Church and was firing squad commander of American Legion Post No. 146, both at Kiowa. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944.
On March 24, 1944, he married
Mary Ellen Brady at Medicine Lodge. She survives.
Other survivors include: a brother, John, El Dorado; two sisters, Hazel Kealiher, Helena, Okla., and Ginger Cook, El Dorado; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Monte and Brad; a daughter, Kay Wiley; three brothers, Clifford, Efton and Ben; and a sister, Joy.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Kiowa, with the Rev. Bill Dyar presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home, Kiowa. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Leroy Meyer
STAFFORD - Leroy Meyer, 66, died June 17, 2000, at his home in Stafford.
He was born Dec. 28, 1933, at Stafford, the son of Roy H. and Frankie Jenkins Meyer. He was a 1951 graduate of Stafford High School. A lifetime Stafford resident, he was a retired farmer and was the former owner of Elroy's Pizza and later Elroy's II, both at Stafford.
He belonged to Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge, both at Stafford, was a past president of the Stafford Chamber of Commerce, served on the Ritz Theatre and Octoberfest committees, was a former trustee for West Cooper Township and was a school bus driver for Stafford schools for many years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
On Aug. 4, 1957, he married
Olive Franklin at St. John. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jeff, Stafford; two daughters, Cindi Martinez, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jennifer Alpers, Hudson; a sister, Evelyn Brown, Sublette; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford, with Aaron Arthaud and Carl Feril presiding. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery.

Clyde D. Stwalley
DODGE CITY - Clyde D. Stwalley, 64, died June 18, 2000, at Western Plains Regional Hospital, Dodge City.
He was born Oct. 18, 1935, at Ford, the son of Carl R. and Gladys Fishburn Stwalley. A lifetime Ford County area resident, he was an employee of Winter Feed Yard, Dodge City, for 40 years.
On Feb. 15, 1964, he married
Loretta J. Hunnicutt at Ford. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Stephen, Osage Beach, Mo.; a brother, Keith, Dodge City; and three granddaughters.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Ford Cemetery, with the Rev. Kirk Larson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.

Emilie Bitter Demek
HOISINGTON - Emilie Bitter Demek, 93, died June 17, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Long Term Care, Ellinwood.
She was born Oct. 24, 1906, at Golga, Russia, the daughter of Ferdinand and Katherine Keil Schmidt. A Barton County resident since 1921, after moving to the United States in 1912 and formerly living in Milwaukee, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, and the Quilters of the church.
On July 25, 1926, she married
Julius Bitter in rural Barton County. He died Feb. 3, 1953. On July 14, 1957, she married
Robert Dumler. He died July 4, 1967. On Oct. 29, 1982, she married
Carl Demek. He died July 14, 1985.
Survivors include: two sons, Harry and Eugene Bitter, both of Hoisington; a daughter, Ruth Howard, Utica; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, with Pastor Kelly Taylor Schaus presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

Beata 'Bea' Malsom
COLLYER - Beata "Bea" Malsom, 74, died June 18, 2000, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
She was born June 21, 1925, in rural St. Peter in Graham County, the daughter of Anton and Rosie Giebler Dinkel. She attended Quinter schools. A lifetime Collyer area resident, she was a homemaker and former bookkeeper for Malsom and Son Implement Co., Collyer.
She belonged to St. Michael Catholic Church, the Altar Society of the church, the Collyer Bridge Club and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Thomas Pratt Tidball Post No. 378, all at Collyer.
On Sept. 27, 1944, she married
Tony Malsom at Collyer. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dwayne, Collyer, and Keith, Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Karen Jones, Houston, and Darlene Brumbeloe, Fort Bragg, Calif.; four brothers, Leo Dinkel, Hayes, Don Dinkel, Thornton, Colo., and Clarence and Robert Dinkel, both of Collyer; four sisters, Bertha Applehans, Marcella Malsom, Rosalie Shaeffer and Rosemary Walt, all of Collyer; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Paul Dinkel; and a grandson.
Wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by a an Altar Society rosary, both at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Collyer, with Fathers Donald F. Pfannenstiel and Basil Torrez presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
