Eugene Mull
NEWTON - Eugene Mull, 58, died March 24, 2000, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.
He was born Aug. 10, 1941, at Newton, the son of Harry and Emogene Smiley Mull. He graduated from Newton High School in 1961. A Newton resident, he was a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
He belonged to the United Trainsmen Union.
On Sept. 15, 1962, he married
Phyllis Hawkins at Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: his mother, Newton; a son, K.C., Newton; a daughter, Rachelle I. Oswald, Newton; two brothers, Robert, Wichita, and Richard, Halstead; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Steve.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newton Christian Church, with the Rev. William Fair presiding. There will be no visitation.

Della M. Snyder
DODGE CITY - Della M. Snyder, 78, died March 27, 2000, at Trinity Manor, Dodge City.
She was born Dec. 13, 1921, at Camp Funston, Okla., the daughter of Joseph W. and Ella May Smith Blackburn. A longtime Dodge City resident, she was a motel housekeeper.
She belonged to First Church of the Nazarene and Moose Lodge, both at Dodge City.
On July 29, 1941, she married
Oliver Ben Snyder at Dodge City. He died June 21, 1973.
Survivors include: a brother, Melvin Blackburn, Dodge City; a sister, Margie Jella, Rolla, Mo.; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with the Rev. Amer Khokhar presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity Manor, in care of the funeral home.
Melvin C. 'Mel' Brewer
CONCORDIA - Melvin C. "Mel" Brewer, 75, Concordia, died March 10, 2000, at Cloud County Health Center.
Mr. Brewer was born Nov. 3, 1924, at rural Norway and was a resident of the Concordia area since 1984, moving from Manhattan. He owned and operated Mel's Tavern in Manhattan. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 1983.
Survivors include: five stepdaughters; and five brothers, John A. of Dickinson, Texas, Joseph W. of Hutchinson, Owen E. of Concordia, Archie N. of Carthage, Mo., and Dean D. of rural Norway.
The memorial service was held at 2 p.m. March 27 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norway, with the Revs. Ethan Feistner and Carol Willadsen officiating. The body was donated to medical research.

Robert Frederick Richter
PRATT - Robert Frederick Richter, 73, died March 25, 2000, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1926, at Emporia, the son of Frederick W. and Edith M. Chisholm Richter. A resident of Pratt, he was a retired territory salesman for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
He was a member of Pratt Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, Midian Shrine, Wichita, Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., Emporia, and Scottish Rite, Topeka, and was board member of R.S.V.P. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Oct. 19, 1952, he married
Mary Helen Carr at Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Robert Scott, Spokane, Wash., Craig Alan, Pratt, and Bradley Dean, Wichita; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pratt Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Thomas D. Sutter presiding. There will be no calling times as cremation has taken place.

Gloria Dean Cline
COLDWATER - Gloria Dean Cline, 76, died March 28, 2000, at her home.
She was born April 4, 1923, in rural Haven, the daughter of Fay Willard and Vertie Marie Boughner Wilson. She graduated from Antrim High School, rural Stafford County, in 1941 and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. A longtime resident of the Coldwater area, she was a retired deputy county clerk for Comanche County of 20 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Coldwater, where she was pianist for many years, and several Bible study and civic clubs in Coldwater.
On June 19, 1943, she married
James Russell "Junior" Cline at Greensburg. He survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Rhonda Nickel, Coldwater; a brother, Charles Wilson, Odessa, Texas; a sister, Carmen Ivy, Kimberling City, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Fay Cline.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Coldwater, with the Rev. Mike Elrod presiding. Burial will follow the service in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater. Calling times will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Jack Keith Slemp
MOSCOW - Jack Keith Slemp, 71, died March 27, 2000, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit, Satanta.
He was born May 29, 1928, at Moscow, the son of Orval Lee and Leola Fay Henderson Slemp. A lifelong Moscow resident, he worked for the City of Moscow and owned a custom hay business.
In 1955, he married
Jo Ann Tilford at Clayton, N.M.
Survivors include: three sons, Keith Jr., Campo, Colo., Roy, Anchorage, Alaska, and Kevin, Moscow; three sisters, Judy Cantrell, Moscow, Nancy Olinger, Hugoton, and Marilyn Kapp, Yukon, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James; and a sister, Gwendolyn Burgess.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Moscow, with the Revs. Josue Mora and Larry Bradford presiding. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery.

Gladys O. Layton
ULYSSES - Gladys O. Layton, 84, died March 28, 2000, at Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses.
She was born May 20, 1915, near Durant, Okla., the daughter of John and Lema Cassidy Dill. A resident of Grant County since 1952, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses.
On Sept. 17, 1939, she married
Ned K. Layton at Sayre, Okla. He died Dec. 28, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, John, Independence; two daughters, Ginger Anthony, Ulysses, and Jeanie Allen, Garden City; two sisters, Ruth Wiley, Wheeler, Texas, and Jeanie Parks, Roulette, Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Clarence, Earl and J.M. Dill; and two sisters, Icie Jennings and Annie Dill.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Bill Harrold presiding. Burial in UlyssesCemeterywill follow the service. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.

Richard James Jones
WICHITA - Richard James Jones, 90, died March 25, 2000, at Payson, Ariz.
He was born June 4, 1909, at Hutchinson, the son of William F. and Maude E. Foster Jones. He was a resident of Payson, Ariz., for five years, formerly of Wichita. He was a dishwasher at Lockheed Aircraft Co. in California, and at Pratt Elks Lodge. He retired in 1962 from Boeing and the Eagle Beacon, Wichita, having worked as an editorial copy boy and Beacon advertising runner, and at Boeing machine shop.
He belonged to Payson Christian Church, Payson.
Survivors include: nephews and nieces, including Karellen Larrison and Dan Blankenship, both of Pratt, and EJ McGuire, Zenda; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Blankenship and Louise McGuire.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with the Rev. Kendal Utt presiding. Calling times will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Rita Lucille Overbey, 80, died March 27, 2000, at her home in Fayetteville.
She was born Sept. 27, 1919, at Chase, the daughter of James and Matilda Robinson Sinnettt.
In 1944, she married
Raymond Overbey.
Survivors include: three sons; five daughters, including Cecilia Carpinelli, Atchison; four sisters, including Sister Margaret Sinnett, Wichita, and Margaret Duncan, Cimarron; and 16 grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Beard's Chapel, Fayetteville. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery, Blackwell, Okla.
