Gladys P. Maninger
HARPER - Gladys P. Maninger, 91, died Feb. 17, 2000, at Harper District Hospital.
She was born Oct. 1, 1908, at Attica, the daughter of George and Sarah Baird Koeppen. She was a retired clerk for Nichols Variety Store, Harper, and a homemaker.
She belonged to Christian Church, the Dorcas Circle, Banner Club, and the Study & Social Club.
On May 5, 1937, she married
Paul L. Maninger at Wichita. He died Aug. 10, 1986.
Survivors include: a son, Joe, St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Twila Newport, Neodesha; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Funeral Home, Harper, with Pastor Clayton Portenier presiding. Burial will be in Harper Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Harper Hospital for the hearing impaired, in care of the funeral home.
Robert E. Chipley
GARDEN CITY - Robert E. Chipley, 71, died Feb. 15, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
He was born April 21, 1928, at New Franklin, Mo., the son of Charles and Jessie Gentz Chipley. A Garden City resident since 1973, moving from Overland Park, he was the manager of the Meals on Wheels program at Garden City.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Garden City, and worked with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at Finney County Senior Center.
On Dec. 25, 1947, he married
Helen C. Brown at Boonville, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Larry E., Manhattan, N.Y.; a daughter, Pamela Sue Chipley, Garden City; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles L.; and a sister, Dolly Yotze.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Revs. Janet Hernandez and Dave Sweley presiding. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Robert L. Bauer
LARNED - Robert L. Bauer, 59, died Feb. 17, 2000, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
He was born Nov. 24, 1940, at Larned, the son of Lester G. and Hattie Elizabeth Juergensen Bauer. A longtime Larned resident, moving from Radium, he was a licensed mental health technician II, serving 34 years at Larned State Hospital.
On Oct. 31, 1959, he married
Virginia Ann Culbreath at St. John. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Lance L. and Allen J., both of Larned, and Troy V., Colby; two brothers, Merle, Tucson, Ariz., and Maurice, Houston; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Charles Grant presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Sunday and until service time Monday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pawnee Rock Cemetery.

Verl E. Misak
CALDWELL - Verl E. Misak, 66, died Feb. 16, 2000, at Caldwell.
He was born June 15, 1933, at Bluff City, the son of Rudolph and Evelyn Wencel Misak. He was a teacher, farmer and stockman.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Caldwell, and served in the U.S. Army.
On Feb. 1, 1953, he married
Marilyn Bryson at Caldwell. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Roger, Mullinville; his mother, Caldwell; three brothers, Dean, Wichita, Eldon, Jacksonville, Ark., and Neale, Caldwell; a sister, Nancy Misak, Garland, Texas; three grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Caldwell, with the Rev. Diana Hill presiding. Burial will be in Czechoslovakian Cemetery, Caldwell.

Bruce Keyes Harrel
PRATT - Bruce Keyes Harrel, 81, died Feb. 17, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa.
He was born Sept. 16, 1918, at Sawyer, the son of Harley and Della Keyes Harrel. A Pratt resident for most of his life, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to First Southern Baptist Church, Pratt. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On March 24, 1940, he married
Alta Mae Lewis at Oklahoma City. She died Aug. 17, 1996.
Survivors include: a son, Wynn, Pratt; two daughters, Marlene Boxler, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Gina Snyder, Asbury, Iowa; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Don; and a sister, Marcella Cathy.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Southern Baptist Church, Pratt, with the Rev. Bill Martin presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and Sunday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.

Erma Ethel Meyer
GREAT BEND - Erma Ethel Meyer, 97, died Feb. 17, 2000, at Hoisington.
She was born May 27, 1902, at Hoisington, the daughter of Daniel Loten and Mary Margaret Dumpprope Tripp. She graduated from Hoisington High School in 1920 and later passed her teacher's exam. A longtime resident of Great Bend, she was a retired teacher, and had taught in Hoisington and Heizer schools for four years, and at rural District No. 95.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Great Bend, the Royal Neighbors, Rebekah Lodge IOOF and the 20th Century Club.
On June 5, 1925, she married
Edward Joseph Meyer at Hoisington. He died July 1, 1978.
Survivors include: a son; Ross, East Helena, Mont.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a brother, Roy Tripp; and a sister, Evelyn Cox.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. William Johnson presiding. Friends may call from 9 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Fryberger Mortuary, Great Bend. The family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Pauline Suiter
MACKSVILLE - Pauline Suiter, 92, died Feb. 17, 2000, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City, Mo.
She was born May 16, 1907, at Tingley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Edna Waggoner Booth. She attended Macksville schools and graduated from Belpre High School in 1925. A lifetime Macksville resident, moving to Overland Park, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Macksville Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and numerous other clubs and organizations in the Macksville area.
On July 28, 1926, she married
Ernest Suiter at Belpre. He died Oct. 25, 1981.
Survivors include: a son, Rollin "Bud, " Macksville; two daughters, Betty Jo Gilkison, Overland Park, and Dorothy Reid, Leawood; a brother, Roy Booth, Blue Eye, Mo.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Johnny Booth.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Macksville Christian Church, with the Rev. Carey Haner presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Minnis Chapel, Macksville. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.

Harold Nelson Jr.
McPHERSON - Harold Nelson Jr., 56, died Feb. 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1943, at Lindsborg, the son of Harold Sr. and Anna Virginia Sandell Nelson. He graduated from Lindsborg High School. A longtime McPherson resident, he worked in concrete construction at Plenert Construction.
He belonged to Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg.
Survivors include: a son, Merwin Nelson Horner, Marysville; a daughter, Tammy Luttig, McPherson; three stepsons, Justin Gunter and James Gunter, both of McPherson, and Jeremy Gunter, Marysville; two brothers, Richard, Lindsborg, and LeRoy, Oberlin; three sisters, Anita Nelson Schriner, Lindsborg, Salley Troeger, Beverly, and Jackie Sherman, McPherson; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in MarquetteCemeterywith Pastor Larry Cross presiding. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Olson's Funeral Home, Marquette.
