Donald Reeves
GREAT BEND - Donald Reeves, 79, died Nov. 15, 2004, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.
He was born Nov. 25, 1924, at Wilmont. A Great Bend resident, moving from California, he was a salesman for Marmie Motors.
He belonged to St. John's Episcopal Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3111 and Great Bowling Leagues.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II as a 2nd lieutenant.
On April 19, 1962, he married
Edythe Teater at La Crosse. She died Feb. 21, 1998. Then on March 10, 2001, he married
Agatha Cuzick at Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Gary, California; three stepsons, Bill Teater, Oklahoma City, Tom Teater, Fort Lupton, Colo., and Geary Cuzick, Missouri; three daughters, Karen King, Jetmore, Cindi Baird and Patti Griffith, both of California; three stepdaughters, Dotti Schuckman, La Crosse, Joyce Lewis, Great Bend, and Nancy Perreira, California; 30 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Bee; a brother; two sisters; and two granddaughters.
Service will take place at a later date.

Ulanda E. Pugh
GREAT BEND - Ulanda Ethelyn Dorfshaffer Pugh, 90, died Nov. 15, 2004, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 6, 1914, at Galatia, the daughter of Joseph Leonard and Chesley Ethel Parker Brown. A lifetime Barton County resident, she was co-owner and operator of Sammy's Market from 1936 to 1944. She also owned and operated Ulanda's Dining Room from 1954 to 1959 and sold Avon for 10 years.
She belonged to First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a choir member, deacon, elder, financial secretary, serving on other committees. She was co-founder and active member of the late Golden Plains Chapter of Sweet Adelines. She was a member of Fort Zarah Unit since 1934 and a past member of Golden Sheaf Order of Eastern Star.
On Oct. 8, 1933, she married
Samuel W. Dorfshaffer at Lyons. He died June 9, 1973. Then on April 16, 1978, she married
Roy M. Pugh at Great Bend. He died June 24, 1986.
Survivors include: a son, Samuel J. Dorfshaffer, Grosslittgen, Germany; three daughters, Gloria Clothier, Kay Maneth, both of Great Bend, and Beverly Shewbart, Nickerson; a brother, Douglas Brown, Leslie, Ark.; three sisters, Rachel Johnson, Upland, Calif., Louise Gunn, Great Bend, and Lois Childers, Kingman, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, J. Leon Brown, and a sister, Ava Cole.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. William F. Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, all at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Clarence Seibel
HILLSBORO - Clarence Seibel, 81, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Hillsboro.
He was born Sept. 12, 1923, at Marion County, the son of Jacob and Anna Wall Seibel. A resident of Hillsboro, he was a farmer.
He belonged to First Mennonite Church of Fredonia.
On Dec. 15, 1949, he married
Mary Koslowsky at rural Hillsboro. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: a son, Gene, Edwardsville, Ill.; a daughter, Eleanor Jost, Hillsboro; three brothers, Elmer, Newton, Homer, Arkansas City, and Wallace, Wichita; two sisters, Lucena Thiessen, Fredonia, and Frances Quintana, Emporia; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with Pastor Roy Keller presiding. There will be a private family burial.

Adrienne Grace Ellen Lautt Brown
McPHERSON - Adrienne Grace Ellen Lautt Brown, 53, died Oct. 7, 2004, at McPherson.
She was born Sept. 26, 1951, at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Benjamin and Ellen Witt Lautt. A resident of McPherson, she was a music teacher and secretary.
Survivors include: a daughter, Michelle Angela Brown, Paradise, Calif.; four brothers, Paul Lautt, Nikaski, Alaska, Mark Lautt, Amarillo, Texas, Jonathan Lautt, Kansas City, and Aaron Lautt, Overland Park.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, McPherson, with Pastor Les Cantrell presiding. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday in Gnadenau Cemetery, Hillsboro. Hillsboro Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Chester O. Unruh
HILLSBORO - Chester O. Unruh, 84, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Hillsboro.
He was born Feb. 3, 1920, at Hillsboro, the son of Harrison B. and Anna Schroeder Unruh. A resident of Hillsboro, he was a dairy man.
He belonged to Trinity Mennonite Church.
On March 20, 1942, he married
Bernice Bartel at rural Hillsboro. She survives, Hillsboro.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Jean Winter, rural Hillsboro; a son-in-law; two sisters, Dorothy Schmidt, N. Newton, and Eunice Esau, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Onietta Loewer; and a brother, Allen.

George Thielen
DORRANCE - George Thielen, 92, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Russell Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1912, at Dorrance, the son of John P. and Ida Garrett Thielen. A lifetime resident of Dorrance, he worked as a farmer, stockman and teacher.
He belonged to Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dorrance. He was a COOP Board Member.
On May 12, 1936, he married
Ethel Coady at Russell. She died in April 2004.
Survivors include: two sons, Neal, Boulder, Colo., and Joseph, Dorrance; a daughter, Joan Kaufman, Topeka; a sister, Vivian Anschutz, Great Bend; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Parish vigil will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father David Metz presiding. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dorrance.

SPEARVILLE - Gladys Eleanor Werner, 84, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Buhler Sunshine Home, Buhler.
She was born Sept. 7, 1920, at Windthorst, the daughter of Henry Ignatius and Cecilia Catherine Duesing Issinghoff. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville.
On May 18, 1943, she married
Edmund A. Werner at Windthorst. He died Sept. 16, 1988.
Survivors include: two sons, Norbert, Dodge City, and Kevin, Wichita; seven daughters, Glenda Werner, Austin, Texas, Marjorie Schnelle, Sharon Werner and Karen Humphreys, all of Wichita, Jana Werner, Santa Fe, N.M., Mary Ellen Alexander, Inman, and Michelle McReynolds, Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Clint Issinghoff, Osage; a sister, Maxine Durler, Gardner; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Jerome, Floyd, Wendell, Stan, Harry Jr. and Robert; and two sisters, Alvina Torline and Patricia Buscho.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Baptist Church, Spearville. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with Father Robert A. Schremmer presiding. Friends may call from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Spearville.

LAWRENCE - Florence E. Sweeney, 86, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Oct. 14, 1917, at Kinsley. A resident of Lawrence since 1967, moving from WaKeeney, previously of Oakley and Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.
On Jan. 20, 1937, she married
Harold Pat Sweeney at Kinsley. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, including B. Jay Sweeney, Russell; a brother; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
Florence E. Gibbs
NEWTON - Florence E. Gibbs, 77, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Newton.
She was born Oct. 10, 1926, at Peabody, the daughter of James and Mathilda Ratzlaff Chapple. A resident of Newton, she worked at Peabody Memorial Nursing Home for 25 years as a nurse's aide and later as a medication aide until her retirement.
She belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Peabody.
On June 25, 1950, she married
Charles Gibbs at Peabody. He died Aug. 15, 2001.
Survivors include: two daughters, Louise Gibbs Mathews, Harrisville, R.I., and Cynthia Gibbs, Peabody; her mother; a sister, Debbie Brander, Wichita; a step-granddaughter; an aunt; a nephew; and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Peabody, with the Rev. Robert Kloth presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

LINDSBORG - Hazel R. Christian, 89, died Oct. 8, 2004.
She was born April 11, 1915, at Delmore Township, near Galva, the daughter of Allen L. and Amanda E. Tarnstrom Johnson. A lifetime Lindsborg area resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Lindsborg, American Legion Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
On Oct. 10, 1936, she married
Milton H. Christian at Salina. He died Feb. 10, 2000.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mary E. Stewart, Bartlesville, Okla., Sharon E. Aderman, Topeka, and Linda M. Larson, Romney, W. V.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Arthur and Milo Johnson; and a sister, Gladys.
