Donald E. Marsh
PRATT - Donald E. Marsh, 79, died Dec. 30, 2004, at his home, Pratt.
He was born Aug. 7, 1925, at Great Bend, the son of Fred and Clara Ann McCarter Marsh. A resident of Pratt, he was owner and president of Marsh Engine Service and Supply Inc., (oilfield service, Ford, New Holland and Versitile Equipment).
He was a plank owner of U.S. Navy Memorial and a charter member of World War II Memorial. He was a 58-year member and past adjustant of American Legion at Pratt. He was a lifetime member of Pratt County Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, during World War II.
On Dec. 31, 1946, he married
Gloria Critser at Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Kenny and Richard "Dick, " both of Pratt; two daughters, Pamela Hensley, Pratt, and Sharon "Sherry" Stucky, Ness City; seven grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard; three brothers, Fred H., Albert and Edward; a sister, Barbara Marsh; and a stepgrandson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, with the Rev. Deanna Fluck presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with U.S. Navy military honors.

Eva Brenneman
HESSTON - Eva Brenneman, 94, died Dec. 29, 2004, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
She was born Jan. 17, 1910, at Olds, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of William and Sarah Brubacher Wideman. Living in Canada and Oregon before moving to Hesston in 1944, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Hesston Mennonite Church.
On Jan. 23, 1933, she married
Titus Brenneman at Kingman, Alberta. He died Nov. 18, 1985.
Survivors include: four sons, Derald, Rocky Ford, Colo., Ervin, Lebanon, Ore., Fred, Gainsville, Fla., and Robert, Goshen, Ind.; a daughter, Beatrice Ruebke, Hesston; a brother, William Wideman, Tofield, Alberta; three sisters, Naomi Yoder and Hazel Martin, both of Tofield, Alberta, and Ella Mae Burnstead, Camrose, Alberta; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hesston Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eastlawn Cemetery, near Hesston.

Grayce M. McKibben
STAFFORD - Grayce M. McKibben, 97, died Dec. 28, 2004, at her home in Stafford.
She was born Oct. 15, 1907, at Iuka, the daughter of George and Nellie Cooper Tregellas. A resident of Stafford since 1942, moving from a farm in Preston, she had worked as a reporter for the Stafford Courier newspaper.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Northstar Community Club, all at Stafford.
On Aug. 21, 1928, she married
Wayne F. McKibben at Stafford. He died Dec. 23, 1984.
Survivors include: two sons, John, Las Cruces, N.M., and Larry, Surprise, Ariz.; a brother, George Tregellas, Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Edna McCune, Stafford; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ina, Iva and Pearl.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Iuka Cemetery, Iuka. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford.

Florence Johnson
LARNED - Florence Johnson, 97, was born in Ballard, Calif., June 16, 1907, and passed away on Dec. 29, 2004, in Larned, Kan.
Her parents, Howard O. Smith and Ethel Mae Valk Smith moved to Pawnee County in 1909. She was a resident since that time. Florence graduated from Larned High School in 1926 with honors. She attended Fort Hays Normal School for two years where she earned her teaching certificate.
Florence married
Raymond Edward Johnson Aug. 25, 1929, in Newton, Kan. Florence taught elementary school for two years, one of them with Raymond in a two-room school.
The couple farmed the Seymour Ranch 10 miles west of Larned for 36 yeas. They moved to Larned in 1982. They were Tiny Toilers Community Leaders from 1954 to 1961. Florence served as cooking and sewing leader for many years. She was a founding member of the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation and served on its executive board from 1967-1976. The Johnson's were awarded the Kansas Master Farmer-Homemaker award in 1973 and the Friends of Extension Award from Pawnee County in 1983.
They were members of the First Christian Church of Larned. Both Raymond and Florence were Sunday school teachers for more than 25 years. Florence served as school Superintendent for several years. She was a member of CWF and served as secretary of the Church Board. The Johnson's were instrumental in building the new addition to the church which provided handicapped accessibility to all phases of church fellowship. Raymond passed away in April of 1994.
She is survived by: four daughters, Carrol Walker of Larned, Rhonda Cooley of Fort Collins, Colo., Laurel Johnson of San Jose, Calif., and Donnis Miller-Shipley of Burdett, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Hart, in October of this year.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastors Rhonda Glenn and Dan Lundgren presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Larned. Dorothy J. Cook
GARDEN CITY - Dorothy J. Cook, 77, died Dec. 28, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City.
She was born Feb. 21, 1927, at Syracuse, the daughter of Will and Florence Emma Wear-Hazen.
Survivors include: a son, Rockney "Rocky, " Garden City; four brothers, Bobby R. Hazen, Louisville, Ky., Everett Hazen, Holly, Colo., Edgar Hazen, Brighton, Colo., and Elvin Hazen, Holcomb; four sisters, Doris Ratzlaff, Del Norte, Colo., and Darlene Wallace, Della Pierce and Donna Hazen, all of Garden City; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon E. "Bud" Cook; a son, Ronald E.; a daughter, Shelly A. Cook-Shaffer; and a brother, Billy Hazen.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. MST Friday at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel, Holly, Colo., with the Rev. Don Carter presiding. Burial will follow in Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

GARFIELD - G-R Harman, 81, died Dec. 29, 2004, at his home, Garfield.
He was born May 28, 1923, at Springdale, Ark., the son of Gabriel R. and Gertie Huffman Harman. A resident of Garfield since 1955, he was a truck driver for the Pawnee County Highway Department.
On Feb. 18, 1954, he married
Velma Cassady at Cherokee, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Victor, Garden City, and Gaylon, El Dorado; four daughters, Glynda Harman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Velina Harman, Hutchinson, Dianna Manzanares, Pueblo, Colo., and Denise Hoch, Garfield; a brother, Everett, Hills, Iowa; a sister, Mildred Prescott, Macksville; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Dan Lundgren presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday and until service time Tuesday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.

Margaret M. Risley
Margaret Merle Risley, 87, died Dec. 28, 2004, at Via Christi, St. Francis Campus, Wichita
She was born April 11, 1917, in Stafford County, the daughter of Melvin and Estella Ward Foreman. She was a graduate of Great Bend High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was an Avon representative for more than 12 years.
She belonged to Church of Christ for more than 71 years.
On June 6, 1936, she married
Roy W. Risley at Stafford. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Richard and fiancee Pati Waters, Pratt, and Larry, and wife Martha, Wichita; a daughter, Marilyn Copeland, Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Eldon; three sisters, Opal Foreman, Thelma Harris and Nadine Biswell; two brothers, Charlie and Lloyd Foreman; and a great-grandson, Christopher Copeland.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson, with Steve Tandy, minister of Northside Church of Christ, Wichita, presiding. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.

G. Joyce Allen
GREENSBURG - G. Joyce Allen, 80, died Nov. 26, 2004, at Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.
She was born March 6, 1924, on the family farm, southwest of Mullinville, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Elsie I. Bishop Brown. She was graduated from Mullinville High School in 1942. A lifetime resident of rural Kiowa County, she was a homemaker and farmer.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Greensburg, the Order of Eastern Star and Kiowa County Kickers Square Dance Club and was the County 4-H Horse Project Leader for many years.
On July 21, 1946, she married
James C. Allen at her brother's farm home in rural Kiowa County. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1991.
Joyce is survived by one son, Dave, and wife, Twila Allen, Greensburg; three granddaughters, Tiffany and husband, Tony Zink, Claflin, Tonya and husband, Patrick Greenleaf, Dodge City, and Tasha Allen, Newton; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Callic Zink, Claflin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and John Brown; and three sisters, Neva Brown, Rhoena Landers and Beth Smith.
Graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, with the Rev. Gene McIntosh presiding.

Bernadene Cockerham
LIBERAL - Bernadene Latrelee Cockerham, 67, died Nov. 28, 2004, at her home, Liberal.
She was born Aug. 10, 1937, at Coleman, Texas, the daughter of Ed and Inez Cherry Ailstock Blake. A resident of Liberal for 33 years, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Garfield Elementary P.T.A.
On Dec. 10, 1957, she married
Henry Cockerham at Hobbs, New Mexico. He died June 3, 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Felton, Albemarle, N.C.; a daughter, Norma Beer, Liberal; two sisters, Reba Kirk, Liberal, and Patsy Melrose, Oklahoma City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Darla Nelson and Thressa Brown; and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. Stan Lehnert presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.

Mary E. Van Pelt
BELOIT - Mary Elodie Van Pelt, 90, died Nov. 28, 2004, at Hilltop Lodge, Beloit.
She was born Oct. 29, 1914, on a farm at Bissell's Point, near Great Bend, the daughter of John Edwin and Florence Frost Van Pelt. She was graduated from Great Bend High School in 1931, attended Fort Hays State University for a year, Barnard College for a year and Emporia Teacher's College for three years. She received her bachelor of science degree in education. A Beloit resident for two years, moving from Great Bend, she was a secretary for Barton County Flour Mill and a teacher and was on the clerical staff for Barton County Clerks Office.
She was a charter member of the National Honor Society.
She is survived by a cousin and caregiver, Margaret Moore, Beloit, and a cousin, Frank McKinney, Great Bend.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Elmer Van Pelt.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. Hal Staats presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery.
