Martin B. Robben
MOUNT HOPE - Martin B. Robben, 80, died Dec. 19, 2004, at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1924, at Ost, the son of Bernard and Anna Giefer Robben. He was a farmer and stockman and worked at Wichita and Hutchinson stockyards for more than two decades.
He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Andale.
On Oct. 18, 1952, he married
Betty Jean Hochstatter at Wichita. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Danny and Kevin, both of Mount Hope; three daughters, Karen Menhusen, Belle Plaine, Lisa Garufo, Arlington, Texas, and Lynelle Robben, Wichita; a brother, Norbert, Andale; a sister, Mary Weninger, Andale; and 11 grandchildren. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Andale. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Reinhard Eck presiding.

Elizabeth F. May
PECK - Elizabeth F. Ulmer May, 72, died Jan. 13, 2005.
She was a former teacher at Hutchinson.
Survivors include: her husband; two sons; a daughter; two brothers, including, Harvey Ulmer, Arlington; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Council Hill Christian Church, Peck.

Brenda A. Stephens
HOISINGTON - Brenda Ann Stephens, 44, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 12, 1960, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Raymond and Leta Jackson Akins.
A lifetime resident of Hoisington, moving from Hutchinson, she was a technical manager and a photographer.
She was a former member of the First Christian Church, Hoisington.
She married
Steven Harris Stephens.
Survivors include: a son, Tigie, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; her father, Hutchinson; mother, Leta Ochs, Hoisington; three brothers, Wendel L., Mike and Orlin; five sisters, Ruby Akins, Mary Leshore, Linda Bayse, Justine Ochs and Angela Grissom; and two grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2005, at House of Faith, Hoisington.

Alma L. Collins
Alma Lee Collins, 77, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Infinia Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born May 31, 1927, at Littlefield, Texas, the daughter of Peter and Katie Toews Isaac. She attended school at Moundridge, Bethel College and Bethel College School of Nursing. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, living in Moundridge and Lansing, she was a retired registered nurse, working at Lansing Penitentiary and Hutchinson Hospital and Hospice.
In October 1963, she married
James E. Collins. He died Sept. 5, 2000.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Harold "Skip", Greeley, Colo., and Scott, Shawnee; a brother, John Isaac, Moundridge; and a sister Elaine Koehn, Moundridge.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Nick Isaac.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 22, at Elliott Chapel, with Minister Charles Johnson presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be in Penwell-Gabels Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gladys C. Johnson
CHENEY - Gladys C. Johnson, 90, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Kingman Community Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1914, at Cheney, the daughter of Henry and Mary Huffman Simons. A resident of Kingman County most of her life, she was a former CNA at Cheney Golden Age Home and was former co-owner and operator of the Western Auto Store, Cherokee, Okla.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, Kingman.
On Aug. 5, 1934, she married
Norman M. Johnson, at Wichita. He preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1997.
Survivors include: a daughter, Shirley Faucett, Cheney, four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Chester and Robert Simons; and a sister Edna Zerger.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with the Rev. Tim O'Byrne presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vinita Cemetery, near Cheney.

Branna A. Weilert
KENDALL - Branna Ann Weilert, 16, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Hamilton County Hospital, Syracuse.
She was born Feb. 2, 1988, at Garden City, the daughter of Cyril Clarence Weilert Jr. and Sherri Ann Wade Trussell. She attended school in Syracuse, Lakin and Garden City. A resident of Kendall, she worked at Subway-Loves Convenience Store, Syracuse.
Survivors include: her father, Cyril, Garden City; her mother and stepfather, Sheri Ann and Justin Trussell, Kendall; three brothers, Brandon Cyril Weilert, Garden City, Bradlee Cyril Weilert and Chase Alexander Trussell, both of Kendall; a sister, Brooke Nicole Sullivan, Garden City; grandmother, Mona Trussell, Kendall; a nephew; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kammi Marie and Brandee Ann Weilert; grandfather, Tuffy Weilert; and grandmothers, Geraldine William and Helen Weilert.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Syracuse. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Gary L. Esquibel
DODGE CITY - Gary Lee Esquibel, 61, died Jan. 14, 2005, at his home, Dodge City.
He was born May 1, 1943, at Dodge City, the son of Mike R. and Josephine Smith Esquibel. He graduated from Dodge City High School and attended Dodge City Community College. He later graduated from masonry school in Long Beach, Calif. He was owner of Custom Masonry, worked for the City of Dodge City and was supervisor of the parks,cemeteryand forestry department.
On Oct. 19, 1985, he married
Donna Cox, at Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Dion, Dodge City, Billy, Escondido, Calif, Alan and Kevin, both of Medicine Park, Okla.; three daughters, Jodi Esquibel, of the home, Shauna Boone, Muskegon, Mich., and Kimiko Esquibel, Dodge City; a brother, Richard, Dodge City; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis Burdue.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dan Rhoads presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

TAMPA - Helen M. Schwartzman, 98, died Jan. 14, 2005, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
She was born Aug. 18, 1906, at Lost Springs, the daughter of Alois A.J. and Fannie Benda Pospisil. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Altar Society, Tampa.
On Nov. 12, 1928, she married
William "Bill" Schwartzman at Tampa. He died in 1990.
Survivors include: three sons, John, Salina, Leroy, St. Louis, Mo., and Wayne, Park City; two daughters, Helen Jean McGonigle, Wichita, and Geraldine Noonan, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Emil Pospisil, Wichita; four sisters, Evelyn Strecker, Lost Springs, Stella Kohler, Silver Springs, Md., Victoria Zell, Shelby, Mont., and Lorena Pospisil, Libuse, La.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa, with Fathers Norbert Dlabal and Steve Gronert presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Fern A. Lampe
MEDICINE LODGE - Fern A. Lampe, 86, died Jan. 15, 2005, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.
She was born Oct. 31, 1918, at Isabel, the daughter of William and Anna Wheling Laverentz. A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1997, moving from Nashville, she was a school cook.
She belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church and Dorcas, Nashville.
On Dec. 22, 1936, she married
Martin Lampe at Wichita. He died July 24, 1996.
Survivors include: two daughters, Marilyn Mease, Newton, and Charlotte Fiegel, Protection; a sister, Thelma Westerman, Nashville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Helm; and four brothers, Marvin, Roy, Earl and Dale Laverentz.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Nashville, with Pastor Dennis Fangmeyer presiding. Friends may call from1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge. William Blackburn
HOLCOMB - William "Bud" Blackburn, 77, died Jan. 14, 2005, at his home, Holcomb.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927, at Ash Valley Township in Pawnee County, the son of William James and Ida Mae Banta Blackburn. He attended rural Pawnee County school. A resident of Holcomb since 1982, moving from Friend, he was a farmer.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Larned and Elks Lodge, Garden City.
On June 5, 1949, he married
Shirley A. Clarkson, at Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Alan, Holcomb, and Vernon Scott, Garden City; two daughters, Susan Diane Blackburn and Julia Ann Perales, both of Garden City; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lee; six brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Harry Walz presiding. Friends may call 9 am to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
