Marian E. Selfridge
STERLING - Marian E. Selfridge, 89, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.
She was born Oct. 6, 1915, at Broken Bow, Neb., the daughter of Edgar Thayer and Eliza Boyce Shepardson. She graduated from Broken Bow High School.
A longtime resident of Sterling, she was a former employee of Engbrecht Hatchery and worked in the dietary department at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, both at Sterling.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, Silver Threads, J.B. Club, and the Birthday Club, all at Sterling.
On June 18, 1948, she married
John Selfridge at Sterling. He died Aug. 6, 1986.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Wilson, Midland, Texas; a daughter Mary Jane Navarro, Lyons; five grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, John Shepardson.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. Glenn Chambers presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Edward M. Siemens
HESSTON - Edward M. Siemens, 85, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born Dec. 22, 1919, at rural Burrton, the son of Abraham R. and Katie L. Regier Siemens. A resident of Hesston since 1958, he was a farmer and since 1947, owned and operated Siemens Brothers Earthmoving.
He belonged to Hebron Mennonite Church.
On August 30, 1951, he married
Alma I. Bergen at Henderson, Neb. She died March 8, 2004.
Survivors include: four sons, Kenneth and his wife Teresa, Buhler, Karl and his wife Jacquie, Newton, Klifford and his wife Fran, and Kelvin, both of Hesston; a sister, Welma V. Stucky, Moundridge; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Marvin.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, 415 North West Street, Buhler, with Pastors Peter Voran and Brent Warkentin presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Buhler Mortuary. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, rural Buhler.

Cora L. Regier
WICHITA - Cora Lee "Corky" Regier, 84, died Jan. 15, 2005, at her home, Wichita.
She was born Aug. 2, 1920, at Lake City, Okla., the daughter of Yantis and Alpha Baxter Hawkins. A former resident of Lyons and Hillsboro, she was bookkeeper and former office manager of Irv Schroeder Chevrolet, Hillsboro.
On Oct. 27, 1940, she married
Wilbert Dan Regier at Anthony. He died Oct. 29, 1999.
Survivors include: a son; three daughters; a sister; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, with Pastor Cleo Koop presiding. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Mennonite Church, Halstead. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

Allan D. Leatherman
MOUNDRIDGE - Allan Dale Leatherman, 70, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.
He was born July 27, 1934, at Ashland, Ohio, the son of Jacob Dale and Wilma J. Buerge Leatherman. A resident of Moundridge since 1989, moving from Colby, he was a farmer and truck driver.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was of the Mennonite faith.
On June 15, 1958, he married, Elaine M. Unruh at Louisville, Ga. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Troy, Hutchinson; seven daughters, Rhonda R. Buerge, Ithica, Mich., Teresa L. Barnard, Waneta, Neb., Angela L. Sowers, Oakley, Paula J. Burlew, Sommerset, Ky., Kendra J. Johnston, McPherson, Rosanna S. White, St. Francis, and Sara J. Hardtarfer, Halstead; two brothers, Roger L. Transylvania, La., and Harold Tedrow, Sprinfield, Mo.; a sister, Lela Hanzen, Elyria, Ohio; and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Delbert Tedrow.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge, with Minister Doyle Johnson presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m., at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson. Burial will be in Lone Tree Church of God in Christ Mennonite Cemetery, rural Galva.
Marlin R. Billings
Marlin R. Billings, 77, died Jan. 14, 2005, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born May 11, 1927, at Willard, the son of Merrill Stevens and Nora Merle Riley Billings. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a music teacher.
He received his Bachelors in Music Education from Washburn University, Masters in Music Education from the University of Kansas, and Bachelors in Counseling from Wichita State University. He was Band Director for LeRoy School from 1949-1953, Band Director for Harper Schools 1953-1961, Band Director for Hutchinson Central Junior High and High School 1961-1973, and Counselor and Activities Director for Burrton and Inman Schools 1973-1989.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, National Education Association, Life Member of the VFW, American Legion, and was a past member of the Lions, Masonic Lodge, Moose and Elks.
On Aug. 21, 1947, he married
Beverly Jean Weekes at Topeka. She preceded him in death April 7, 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Steven, Opelousas, La.; a daughter, Ramona Getz, Hutchinson; a brother, Galen, Bonner Springs; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, with Chaplain Fred Obold presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.

William Philbrick
AUGUSTA - William "Pete" Philbrick, 54, died Jan. 12, 2005.
A resident of Augusta, he was a telephone service tech/installer. He worked for the phone company from 1971 to 2004 and served in search and rescue for the civil defense at Dodge City. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Survivors include: his wife, Sue, Augusta; a son; a daughter; a brother, Arley, Hutchinson; a sister, Linda Williams, Hutchinson; and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
Bertha Y. Campbell
TIMBERVILLE, Va. - Bertha Yutzy Campbell, 89, died Jan. 13, 2005, at her home, Timberville, Va.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Reno County, the daughter of Reuben J. and Catherine M. "Katie" Troyer Yutzy.
On Dec. 25, 1942, she married
Harold Parret Campbell. He died Sept. 24, 2004.
Survivors include: seven sons; two daughters; three brothers, Ivan and Paul Yutzy, both of Yoder, and Gilbert Yutzy, Haven; two sisters; 31 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pike Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, Va.

Eddie E. Klose
MARION - Eddie E. Klose, 80, died Jan. 13, 2005, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
He was born Oct. 13, 1924, at Ramona, the son of Henry and Susie Berg Klose. A resident of Marion, he worked in road construction.
He belonged to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion, and Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
On Nov. 30, 1947, he married
LaVaughn Christenser, rural Marion. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael, Hillsboro; a daughter, Janel Dvorak, Newton; and a brother, Albert, Hillsboro.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion, with the Rev. Alan Stahlecker presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Burial with military rites will be in Marion Cemetery.

Edwin E. Neufeld
GOSHEN, Ind. - Edwin Eugene Neufeld, 73, died Dec. 26, 2004, at his home, Goshen, Ind.
He was born March 19, 1931, at Inman, the son of Frank and Mary Fehdrau Neufeld. He graduated from Inman High School, attended Bethel College, North Newton, for two years, then transferred to the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, where he received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and master's degree in speech pathology and audiology in 1965. While in Iowa, he was researcher for the University of Iowa Hospital from 1965 to 1967. Then he served as director of speech and hearing at Aux Chandelles School, Elkhart, Ind. In 1973, he opened a private practice. Later, he was manager for Ten Thousand Villages at Denver, for four years. He then opened a store at Cambridge, Mass., for Ten Thousand Villages. After retirement, he sold patio enclosures for the Raber Group at Shipshewana.
On Aug. 26, 1953, he married
Marjorie Banman at Goessel. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son; three daughters; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Jan. 26, at Silverwood Mennonite Church, Goshen, Ind.
Ruth A. Hershberger
HESSTON - Ruth A. Hershberger, 94, died Jan. 13, 2005, at Hesston.
She was born April 24, 1910, at Harper, the daughter of Samuel G. and Cora Alice Shupe Schmidt. A Harper area resident until moving to Hesston in 1988, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church with an associate membership at Hesston Mennonite Church.
On May 4, 1947, she married
Andrew Hershberger at Harper. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Roy, Owensboro, Ky., and Dale, Clay Center; a brother, Earl Schmidt, Biglerville, Penn., a sister, Edna Curtiss, Newton; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
