Leonard C. Stimatze
GREAT BEND - Leonard C. Stimatze, 70, died Jan. 30, 2005, at his residence, Great Bend.
He was born Nov. 27, 1934, at Macksville, the son of Cheever Stimatze. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a driller for Blue Goose Drilling Inc.
He belonged to Elks BPO Lodge No. 1127, Great Bend.
On July 1, 1986, he married
Irene Jennix at Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include: his stepmother, Anna Stimatze, Perry; a son, Andrew, Olathe; four daughters, Marilyn Murphy, Olathe, Andrea Davenport, Kansas City, Kan., Sarah Gilbert, Martell, Neb., and Emily Stimatze, Topeka; two brothers, William "Bill, " Ridgway, Colo., and Roger, Conifer, Colo.; three sisters, Imagene Poteet, Perry, Dorothy Schuckakosee, Lawrence, and Rose Edwards, Clearwater, Okla; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Jim Follett presiding. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been done.

Helen L. Nutting
GREAT BEND - Helen L. Nutting, 93, died Jan. 30, 2005, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation, Great Bend.
She was born Oct. 28, 1911, at Neck City, Mo., the daughter of James William and Arkadelphia Durham Sanders. A resident of Great Bend since 2002, moving from Lewis, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Crossroads Victory Lighthouse Assembly of God, Kinsley.
On March 18, 1934, she married
Harlie Nutting in rural Stafford County. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Harlie Jr., Temple, Texas, Larry, Great Bend, and Michael, Port Lavaca, Texas; two daughters, Eleanor Smith, Poway, Calif., and Rita Giles, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; a sister, Wilma Smiley, Stafford; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Edwin and Robert Sanders; a stepbrother, Earl Head; and a grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Wayne Cemetery, Lewis, with the Rev. John Hubbard presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, all at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.

Ardeth L. Avery
Ardeth Lucille Avery, 80, died Jan. 28, 2005, at The Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 29, 1924, at Lovewell, the daughter of Roy Theodore and Anna Alvira Robinette Quick. She was a longtime Hutchinson resident.
She graduated from Haviland Academy in 1942, was an Avon representative for 10 years and retired from Hutchinson Hospital.
She belonged to Friends Church, Hutchinson.
On Oct. 1, 1943, she married
Merton Henry Smith at Pratt. He died Sept. 3, 1963. On March 1, 1980, she married
Frank Lesley Avery at Sterling. He died Dec. 23, 1989.
Survivors include: four sons, Phillip Smith, Hutchinson, Larry Smith, Phoenix, Ariz., Brent Hobbs, Branson, Mo., and Robert Smith, Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Deanna James, Lee's Summit, Mo., Paula Clements, Tecumseh, Neb., and Cynthia Moore, South Hutchinson; two brothers, John H. Quick, Hutchinson; and Eldon Quick, Rantoul, Ill.; a sister, Norma J. Dunlap, Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dallas D. Quick; an infant brother, Wendell Quick; and a great-grandson, Jarrod Carroll.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Friends Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary D. Getting presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Chapel. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Vallie J. Kilgore
TYRONE, Okla. - Vallie Jane Kilgore, 103, died Jan. 30, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center, Liberal.
She was born June 10, 1901, at Baxter, Tenn., the daughter of George Alexander and Mary Tennessee Crawford Allison. She attended school in the area. She worked as a seamstress for Southwest Medical Center for 10 years.
She belonged to the Rebekka's and the Sewing Club.
On Jan. 4, 1920, she married
L.V. Kilgore in Putnam County, Tenn. He died Aug. 5, 1996.
Survivors include: a son, Carlos, Liberal; a daughter, Evalean Forward, Hugoton; a brother, Aldon Allison, Cookeville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Geneva Tolson; three brothers, Doyle, Dallas and Denver; and two sisters, Beulah and Velma.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lone Star Friends Church, east of Hugoton and northwest of Liberal, with Pastor Scott Rose presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Hooker, Okla., with the family present. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Liberal.

Darrell A. Burnett
MULLINVILLE - Darrell Alan Burnett, 59, died Jan. 31, 2005, at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Fort Dodge.
He was born Sept. 8, 1945, at Larned, the son of Virgil Wayne and Shirley Ruth Ireland Burnett. He graduated from Mullinville High School in 1963 and attended Wichita State University. He was a resident of Lincoln, Neb., Underwood, Iowa, and Mullinville, since 1995. He was a route manager for Metz Bakery.
He belonged to the Mullinville United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Recruit in basic training.
Survivors include: a son, Anthony, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Melissa Eckert, Platt's Mouth, Neb.; his mother, Shirley, Mullinville; and a brother, Cecil Burnett and his wife, Janet, Tonganoxie.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Mullinville, with the Rev. Tim McCrary presiding. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Ronald E. Barker
LIBERAL - Ronald E. "Ron" Barker, 66, died Jan. 30, 2005, at Western Plains Regional Medical Center, Dodge City.
He was born Nov. 3, 1938, at Gentry, Ark., the son of Mervin E. and Opal Brannon Barker. He graduated from Sallisaw High School, Sallisaw, Okla., in 1956 and from Eastern Oklahoma A&M College, Wilburton, Okla., in 1958, majoring in economics and sociology. He also attended Northwestern State College, Alva, Okla. He owned and operated Hometown Auto Parts in Liberal for 11 years. He worked as salesman for Myers Bros. Equipment Co., Kansas City, Mo. He was a salesman and office manager for Don's Farm Tire Service for two years, and in 2002, he retired from Southwest Medical Center, working as a courier. He coached women's city league softball.
He belonged to First Baptist Church, Sallisaw, Okla., Liberal High School Booster Club, was a former member of Liberal BeeJay's Ball Team, and was a founding member of Two Tired Motorcycle Club.
On Aug. 19, 1964, he married
Ann Johnson at Clayton, N.M. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Vickie Rice, Liberal; and a granddaughter.
His parents preceded him in death.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will take place at a later date.

Anna K. Bouse
ANTHONY - Anna K. Bouse, 100, died Jan. 27, 2005, at Anthony Home Comfort.
She was born April 8, 1904, at Swanton, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Anna Nitzel Kollmorgan. A resident of Anthony, she was a homemaker.
She married
John Rife. He died Nov. 17, 1952. On Nov. 1, 1959, she married
Andrew Bouse at Anthony. He died Nov. 25, 1980.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Albert Bouse, Mooreland, Okla., and Ed Bouse, Denver; three stepdaughters, Clara Newton and Violet Olmstead, both of Anthony, and Imogene Reames, Enid, Okla.; a sister, Martha Miller, Winfield; nine stepgrandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jonnie Kollmorgan; three brothers; and eight sisters.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony, with the Revs. Lauerence Hastings and Jim Slaughter presiding. Interment will be in Burchfiel Cemetery, Anthony.

Donna F. Daily, 91, died Jan. 28, 2005, at Wesley Towers, Raph Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born July 10, 1913, at Williston, N.D., the daughter of Donald and Edna Boyer Green. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.
In 1944, she married
Earl W. Daily at Oakland, Calif. He died Dec. 22, 1985.
Survivors include: a daughter, Earlene Pulliam and husband Launey, Hutchinson; two grandsons, Danny, Hutchinson, and Darrell, Woodstock, Ga.; and four great-grandsons, Sterling.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Anderson.
A private family graveside service has been planned. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.

GARDEN CITY - Wyatt James Wilder, 3 months, died Jan. 27, 2005, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
He was born Oct. 12, 2004, at Garden City, the son of Brian J. and Becky J. Duran Wilder.
Survivors include: his parents, of the home; grandparents, Richard and Geri Duran, Las Cruces, N.M.; Maxine Rhodes, Quanah, Texas; and James Wilder, Garden City; and great-grandparents, Lottie Wilder, Syracuse, N.Y.; C.E. Scoggins, Quanah, Texas; and Josephine Duran, Dodge City.
Family rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, with Father James E. Baker presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
