Mary E. Zimmerman
NEWTON - Mary Ellen Zimmerman, 74, died Jan. 7, 2005, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born June 9, 1930, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John G. and Mary Fellhoelter Rehmer. She was a receptionist at United Methodist Church Youthville for more than 20 years.
She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Altar Society, the VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary, all at Newton. She volunteered at Central Homecare and Hospice and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
On Oct. 9, 1951, she married
John M. Zimmerman, at Angelus. He died July 2, 1995.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Otter, Newton, and KayAnn Ours, Calipatria, Calif.; a brother, Joseph Rehmer, Grinnell; a sister, Rosemary Bange, Colby; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton, with the Rev. Kenneth VanHaverbeke presiding. There will be a private family burial.

Dorothy C. Heiman
GARDEN CITY - Dorothy C. Heiman, 78, died Jan. 6, 2005, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.
She was born May 27, 1926, in Meade County, the daughter of Luke C. and Frances F. Frenzl Hipp. She attended grade school and two years of high school at Friend, graduating from Garden City High School. She worked at Fidelity State Bank, Garden City, for 17 years and was a homemaker.
On Oct. 2, 1957, she married
Raymond B. Heiman at Garden City. He preceded died Dec. 11, 1971.
Survivors include: a daughter, Christine Heiman, Wichita; a brother, Lawrence Hipp, Platte City, Mo.; and a sister Mary Geier, Garden City.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Luke, John, George, Joe, Ervin and Walter Hipp; and a sister, Freida Hammeke.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, with Father Carlos Garcia Pena, S.J. presiding. Vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.

Dorothy J. Lackey
Dorothy J. Lackey, 82, died Jan. 5, 2005, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 18, 1922, at Inman, the daughter of John N. Jr. and Lena Dyck Schlatter. She graduated from Inman High School. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and caregiver. She also had worked for the former Bond Bakery, Hutchinson.
On Oct. 11, 1946, she married
Charles R. Lackey. He died Feb. 5, 1989.
Survivors include: a daughter, Karna Lackey, Buhler; and two brothers, Roy and John Schlatter, both of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Clarence Schlatter; infant twin sisters, Ruby and Ruth Schlatter; and twin sisters, Edna Schlatter and Mae M. Olsen.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in North Inman Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Anna J. Hill
MINNEAPOLIS - Anna Jo Hill, 94, died Jan. 6, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center, Minneapolis.
She was born Sept. 22, 1910, at Burrton, the daughter of Ernest Archie and Emily Ann Stone Durflinger. She attended Emporia State University, teaching in country schools for several years.
On Aug. 3, 1930, she married
Kenneth S. Hill, at Hutchinson. He preceded her in death in 1970.
Survivors include: two daughters; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Private family graveside service will be in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Burrton. Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy A. Pliler
GALVA - Dorothy Amy Pliler, 69, died Jan. 7, 2005, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
She was born April 15, 1935, in rural Mountain View, Mo., the daughter of Charles "Charlie" Edward and Mary Buff Davis. She attended Oakside Country School, rural Mountain View. A resident of Galva since 1967, formerly of Lindsborg, she was a homemaker.
She attended Harmony Christian Church, McPherson, and belonged to Independent Baptist Church, Salina.
On Jan. 30, 1953, she married
David Eugene Pliler at Salem, Ark. He survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Lisa L. Johnson, Russell, Mary L. Fattig, Veeda R. Clark and Rhonda J. Boydston, all of McPherson; three brothers, Leonard Walton Davis, Laramie, Wyo., Jim Willam Davis, Saratoga, Wyo., and Virgil Leroy Davis, Mountain View; a sister, Ethel Mae Pitts, Mountain View; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vern Charles Davis; and two sisters, Vernie Davis and Vivian Rose "Vee" Lynch.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Chapel, McPherson, with Minister Robert H. Park presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Frank E. Nachtigal
INMAN - Frank E. Nachtigal, 93, died Jan. 6, 2005, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
He was born June 13, 1911, in Hamilton County, the son of Henry P. and Mary Ediger Nachtigal. A lifetime resident of the Inman and Buhler areas. He owned and operated Frank's Barber Shop, Inman. He also worked for MFA Insurance Co., Valley Irrigation, Hesston Corp. and as maintenance for the Kansas State Fair.
He belonged to Mennonite Men's Chorus, Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church and Stucky-Nachtigal Quartet.
On Nov. 30, 1933, he married
Ruth D. Stucky. She died March 29, 2002.
Survivors include: a daughter, Shirley J. Butz, Dodge City; a brother, Paul E., Enumclaw, Wash.; three sisters, Tillie Schmidt, Inman, Wanda Claassen, Newton, and Ruth Carter, Nixa, Mo.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jean Loeffler; two infant brothers, Henry E. and Peter E.; three brothers, Dan E., Henry E. and Richard E.; and a sister, Nellie E. Nachtigal.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church Cemetery, Inman. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buhler Mennonite Church, with Pastor Willmar Harder presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Buhler Mortuary.

Lueva R. Palmer
INMAN - Lueva R. Palmer, 81, died Jan. 18, 2005, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born Oct. 8, 1923, at Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Nealy Lee and Letha Wiseman Raymer. Moving to Inman in 1965, she owned and operated Palmer Variety, Inman, and worked part-time in the kitchen at Pleasant View Home.
She belonged to Groveland Christian Church, rural Inman.
On Jan. 29, 1946, she married
Ralph D. Palmer. He died in 1967.
Survivors include: a son, Mitchell, Topeka; three brothers, Corky Raymer, Independence, Mo., Ronald Raymer, Manteca, Calif., and C.L. Raymer, Bed Brook, Texas; four sisters, Madine Jacobs, Concord, Calif., Maxine Knight, Exeter, Calif., Betty Chick, Bentonville, Ark., and Shirley Jones, Visallia, Calif.; and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sue Wynette, in infancy, and Pamela Palmer.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buhler Mortuary, Buhler, with Pastor Phil Radatz presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary. Burial will be in Vinitia Cemetery, rural Cheney.

Lloyd B. Carlisle
LAVERNE, Okla. - Lloyd Burl Carlisle, 78, died Jan. 17, 2005, at Woodward Regional Hospital, Woodward, Okla.
He was born Dec. 13, 1926, at Laverne, the son of Sylvester Park and Esther Alletta Hart Carlisle. A resident of Laverne, he attended Laverne schools, graduating in 1945. He was a postmaster and mail carrier at Laverne and a farmer and rancher.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Laverne, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Laverne Masonic Lodge.
On Jan. 1, 1949, he married
A. Jewel Dungan at Buffalo, Okla. She died Feb. 18, 1992.
Survivors include: nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nancy Adler and the Rev. Jim Wallace presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, all at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laverne Memorial Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by Laverne/Buffalo American Legion.

Robert L. Taylor
BEAVER, Okla. - Robert L. Taylor, 84, died Jan. 19, 2005, at Beaver County Memorial Hospital, Beaver.
He was born Oct. 30, 1920, at Gate, Okla., the son of Oliver and Nellie Parker Taylor. His mother died when he was very young, and he was raised by his aunt, Viola Johannsen. A longtime resident of Beaver, he worked as truck driver for Grondyke Transport, did ranch work for Barby Cattle Co. and later was head custodian and activity bus driver for Beaver High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945.
He belonged to First Christian Church, American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Beaver Night Owls, all at Beaver.
On Sept. 20, 1952, he married
Sarah Louise Campbell at Perryton, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Maxine Mattson, East Moline, Ill., Mickie Trondson, North Branch, Minn., and Dawn Taylor, Forgan, Okla.; two sisters, Eloise Collins, Vancouver, Wash., and Mary Yeater, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Taylor.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Beaver, with Pastor Rick Main presiding. Inurnment will be in Gate Cemetery, Gate, Okla.

Juanita A. Pyle
ASHLAND - Juanita A. Abell Pyle, 81, died Jan. 18, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.
She was born Feb. 28, 1923, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of George C. and Flora Juanita Herron Abell. A Dodge City resident, formerly of Ashland, she graduated from high school in Kansas City, Mo., and attended Pine Manor Junior College, Boston, and Dodge City Community College. She was a rancher.
She belonged to numerous social and civic clubs and groups, as well as P.E.O., and was one of the surviving charter members of the Pioneer-Krier Museum, Ashland.
On July 21, 1946, she married
Clarence Glenn Dennis Jr. at Ashland. He died in July 1966. On Aug. 21, 1971, she married
E.M. "Sonny" Pyle III at Dodge City. He died in November 1983.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Cornelius Episcopal Church, Dodge City, with Father Dennis Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Myatt Funeral Home, Ashland. Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery, Ashland.
