CONCORDIA — Ronalda Krone, 93, of Concordia, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia.
She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Aurora to Napoleon “Paul” LaDuc and Albina Bombardier.
She married Paul G. Krone on Aug. 29, 1940, in Clyde. She was a homemaker and housewife. She had owned and operated a beauty shop and assisted her husband at Krone Chevrolet in Clyde. She and her husband were lifelong residents of Clyde before moving to the Mount Joseph Senior Community in January 2003.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and other organizations.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Girard of Solomon; brother, Ronald LeDuc of Lincoln; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on Feb. 15, 2006; sisters, Laurette Schrandt and Alexine Odette; one brother, Leo LeDuc and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the church, with the Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, and after 6 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde.
A parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, followed by a 7 p.m. vigil at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Cemetery Fund in care of the mortuary.

MANHATTAN — Joyce A. Garrels, 76, of St. George and formerly of Manhattan, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan.
She was born Dec. 11, 1931 at Abilene, the daughter of Fay Cartwright Needham and Nellie May Clark Needham. She grew up in Holton where she attended the local grade school and, after moving back to Abilene, graduated in 1949 from Abilene High School. She had been a Manhattan resident since 1949.
She married Loyal “Yo” Edward Garrels on Feb. 8, 1953 at Manhattan. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2002.
Mrs. Garrels was a homemaker and worked as a secretary before her marriage.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and sang with the congregation. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines, Flint Hills Masterpiece Theatre, Manhattan Choral Group, the Kansas Bach Choir and in the Messiah at Wamego.
Survivors include a son, Lance F. Garrels of Laurel, Mont.; a daughter, Cyndra E. Garrels of St. George; two brothers, Melvin L. Needham of Salina and Herbert C. Needham of Charleston, SC; sisters, Marian E. Foutch of Salina and Billie Needham of Abilene; along with many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Mae Judah; and a brother, Robert A. Needham.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at the Church of Christ, 2510 Dickens Ave., Manhattan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Manhattan Public Library and left in care of the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan.

Vaughn L. Murphy II, 53, Manhattan, KS passed away Friday, February 13, 2004 in his home.
He was born December 20, 1950 at Phillipsburg, KS, the son of Vaughn L. Murphy and Martha Reddington Murphy. He grew up in Phillipsburg and Manhattan, where he attended the local schools and was a 1968 graduate of Manhattan High School. He had also taken classes at area vocational schools.
He was united in marriage to Julie Mahloch on December 20, 2001 at Manhattan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Murphy had been a long time Manhattan resident and worked for over 20 years as a truck mechanic for Penske and Ryder Truck Lines.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Michelle Warner, Manhattan; two step daughters, Kaysha Cooper, Marshfield, MO and Bridgette Polson, Manhattan; his mother, Martha Murphy, Manhattan; and one step grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Martha Hoover.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2004 in the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Dorothy M. Howat, 77, Manhattan, KS passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in the Mercy Regional Health Center/College Ave., Manhattan.
She was born August 3, 1926 at Berwyn, Alberta, Canada, the 11th of twelve children born to Fred Stevenson and Grace (Dilly) Stevenson. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and attended the local schools.
During his tour of duty and shortly after World War II, she met and later married Fred E. Howat on August 23, 1947 at Manhattan. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1985.
Mrs. Howat was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Manhattan. She volunteered many hours at the Lee School Annex working with children suffering from Down’s Syndrome.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Howat was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Fred, Bob, Dean, Cecil, Don, Ken and Lyle Stevenson; and three sisters, Vel Gould, Louise Hoskins and Grace Stevenson.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra L. Howat, Manhattan; a son, Lonny G. Howat, Elkhart, IN; one sister, Peggy Baumgartner, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and two grandsons, Jason and Ken Howat.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2004 in the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan with the Rev. Vanessa Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.

Ingeborg “Inge” M. Gibbons was born July 11, 1927 in Menheim, Germany, the daughter of Sebastin Sturm and Bara-Kres Sturm. She passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 in the Mercy Regional Health Center/College Ave., Manhattan at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 24 days.
She grew up Menheim and attended the local schools.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth C. Gibbons on July 2, 1955 in Menheim. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1994.
Mrs. Gibbons spent over 20 years working at the Hibachi Hut in Manhattan, first as a waitress and later as the manager of the restaurant. She had been a Manhattan resident since 1956.
Survivors include a son, Robert K. Gibbons, Manhattan; three brothers, Horsit Sturm, Klaus Sturm and Willai Sturm, all of Germany; four sisters, Lore Davis, Commerce City, CO, Walberga Everett of Illinois and Helida Roth and Travte Kuhl, both of Germany; six grandchildren, Deanna Gibbons, Jeremy Meyers, Michele Fairchild, Ashly Gibbons, Shawn Gibbons and Taylor Gibbons; and three great grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Graveside inurnment services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in the Ft. Riley Cemetery, Ft. Riley, KS. Friends and family are invited to meet at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan at 9:30 p.m. to form a procession to the cemetery.

Isabella Marie Gatschet, Olathe, KS, the three and one half month old daughter of Charles James Gatschet and Katherine Anne LaCasse Gatschet, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO.
In addition to her parents, Isabella is survived by a brother, Leon; a sister, Emily; and her twin brother, Calvin James; grandparents, Leon and Mary LaCasse, Denver, CO and Frank and Amy Gatschet, Manhattan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
During her brief time in this world, she touched many lives and brought much joy and happiness to all those who knew and loved her.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2004 in the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan with Father Randall Webber and Father Fred Gatschet as co-celebrants. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.

Esther Mae Dalrymple, 81, Manhattan, KS passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 in her home surrounded by her family members.
She was born December 28, 1922 in Anthony, KS, the daughter of William and Alice (Cornick) Wilson. She was the youngest of three girls. She lived in Anthony until she graduated from Anthony High School in 1941.
After high school, Esther attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1945 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the College of Arts and Sciences. During college, Esther was a member of the USO at Manhattan, where she met her future husband.
She married Lester Roy Dalrymple on March 6, 1945. For many years, she was a homemaker and Army wife. While her husband was in the Army, they lived in numerous locations, including Japan, Italy, and various stateside postings. While in Japan, she served as a Gray Lady at the Tokyo Hospital during the Korean War.
Following her husband’s retirement from military service in 1962, they and their six children moved to Manhattan.
Mrs. Dalrymple and her husband have been residents of Manhattan for the past forty years; both were very active in community service and were avid KSU fans.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was involved in Do-Day Ladies and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the Shrine Ladies, Lady Elks, Lions Club, Pilot Club, RSVP, Kaw Valley Rodeo Association, and KSU Foundation President’s Club.
She and her husband were founding members of the Federation for Handicapped Children that was the predecessor of Big Lakes Developmental Center. She served on the Special Citizens Advisory Board for Big Lakes Developmental Center.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Lester Roy Dalrymple, of the home; four daughters and two sons: Kathleen Jones and her husband, David, of Enterprise; Michael Dalrymple and his wife, Linda, of Ft. Collins, CO; Sharon McCaffrey, and her husband, Michael, of Wamego; Carol Klataske, and her husband, Ron, of Manhattan; Daniela Dalrymple of Springfield, MO; Lee Dalrymple of Manhattan; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
