Hulda I. Dick
TURPIN, Okla. - Hulda I. Dick, 94, died Jan. 8, 2005, at Beaver County Memorial Hospital, Beaver, Okla.
She was born Nov. 8, 1910, in Beaver County, the daughter of John T. and Mary Becker Dirks. She attended school at Ervin Grade School and attended Buhler High School, graduating from Turpin High School in 1930. She and her husband farmed in Turpin, Okla., for 57 years, retiring in 1989, moving to Kidron Bethel Village, Newton.
She belonged to Turpin Mennonite Church.
On April 10, 1932, she married
Nickolia Dick, at Turpin. He died Jan. 26, 1995.
Survivors include: three daughters, Florence Regier, and Shirley Kroeker both of Turpin, and Lorene Goering, Santa Fe, N.M.; a brother, Johnny Dirks, Moundridge; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Regier, Vera Windsor and Thelma Boese.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Turpin Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Jeff Wintermote, presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Interment will be in Turpin Mennonite Cemetery. The Rev. Ferne B. Cook
GREENSBURG - The Rev. Ferne B. Cook, 97, died Jan. 6, 2005, at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg.
She was born Jan. 23, 1907, at Henderson, Mich., the daughter of Philander and Ada May Huffman Bishop.
A Greensburg resident since 1997, she was a graduate from Cleveland Bible Institute in May 1930. She became a licensed minister in October 1930. She received a diploma in nursing from the Chicago School of Nursing. She served as pastor for Friends Church in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado, Oregon and Texas.
She belonged to Friends Church and Friends Missionary Board.
On March 3, 1932, she married
the Rev. Ellis Cook, at Allegan, Mich. He died Jan. 23, 1976. On Aug. 4, 1976, she married
Clarence Cook at Wichita. He died July 17, 1987.
Survivors include: Ellis and Fern's surviving children, two sons, Chilson W., Newton and Theron E., Greensburg; a daughter: Ruth Rich, Eaton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Bishop; four sisters, Ruth and Gladys Bishop, Bessie Werner and Tessie Wightman.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date. There will be no public viewing. Cremation has taken place.

Michael J. Geist
SCOTT CITY - Michael J. Geist, 54, died Jan. 6, 2005, at his home, Olathe.
He was born Jan. 2, 1951, at Scott City, the son of Leland Clarence and Leila Louise Wade Geist. He moved from Sioux Falls, S.D., to Olathe in 2004. He was a roofing estimator.
He belonged to First Christian Church, Scott City.
Survivors include: three daughters, Vonnie Geist, Wichita, Melissa St. Claire, Charlotte, N.C., and Sarah Geist, Olathe; five brothers, Jack, Denver, Colo., Larry, Sabeta, Frank, Wichita, Don, Scott City, and Steve, Moore, Okla.; six sisters, Marie Bishop, Denver, Colo., LuJuana Baker, Garden City, Linda Foster, Kiowa, Cheryl Keyse, Scott City, Vickie Wheeler, Amarillo, Texas, Jane Gullett, Hattiesville, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Eugene and Randall; and two sisters, Shelia Grey and Juanita Sooby.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Scott City with Pastor John Warring presiding. Interment will be in Scott County Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Price and Sons Funeral Home.

Eugene E. Klotz
GREAT BEND - Eugene Elmer Klotz, 79, died Jan. 8, 2005, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.
He was born Jan. 26, 1925, the son of Robert and Phoebe Jantzen Klotz. A lifetime area resident, he worked in the oilfield for Sun Oilwell Cementing and Baker Hughes.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a pharmacist's mate.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: two sons, Douglas E., Modesto, Calif., and Donald Joe, Lee's Summit, Mo; three daughters, Carol J. Durant, Great Bend, Annette M. Moore, Wichita, and Mary J. Irick, Great Bend; two brothers, Robert, Hays, and Eddie, Lawrence; two sisters, Mildred Spratt, Wilson, and Roberta Coon, Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Reinhold and William Klotz; and three sisters, Elizabeth Weber, Helen Smirch and Gloria Klotz.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lucille V. Moore
GREAT BEND - Lucille "Lucy" Virginia Moore, 86, died Jan. 7, 2005.
She was born Oct. 17, 1918, at El Dorado, the daughter of Henry Francis and Maggie Mae Bechtol Fulton.
She attended elementary and middle school in El Dorado and Augusta, graduating high school in Eureka. In 1993, she moved to Great Bend to be near her daughter. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Presbyterian Church, supported the Peace Treaty Pageant and was a 25-year member of the TOPS Club.
On May 26, 1940, she married
Glenn Homer Moore, at El Dorado. He died March 22, 1997.
She is survived by a daughter, Glynes Ash, Great Bend; a brother, Wilbur Fulton, Waco, Texas; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and six great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gene Fulton; two sisters, Kathryn Taylor and Helen Reed; and a great-grandson Casey James Weis.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Larrison Mortuary, Medicine Lodge. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Visitation will also be Tuesday morning, at Larrison Mortuary, Medicine Lodge.

Halie M. Zink
ELLINWOOD - Halie Marie "Fuzzer" Zink, 11, died Jan. 1, 2005, at Great Bend.
She was born Oct. 28, 1993, at Hoisington, the daughter of Anthony W. and Tawnia S. Morgan Zink.
A longtime Ellinwood resident, she was a fifth-grade student at St. Joseph's Catholic School and a member of the volleyball and softball teams.
She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ellinwood.
Survivors include: her parents; two brothers, Anthony and Cody; and three sisters, Angela, Danielle and Amber, all of the home.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Elmer Morgan and Edna Lafayette; and paternal grandparents, Anton J. and Evelyn J. Zink.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood, with Father John Maes and Father Steve Scheier presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kimple Funeral Home. Family rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m., with a wake service at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, Rural Bushton.

Annie Boehs
MOUNDRIDGE - Annie Boehs, 91, died Jan. 1, 2005, at Moundridge Manor.
She was born Feb. 2, 1913, at Cement, Okla., the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Nichols Schmidt. A resident of Moundridge, moving from Ringwood, Okla., she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Fairview Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Fairview, Okla.
On Feb. 7, 1932, she married
Pete J. Boehs at Chickasha, Okla. He preceded her in death, Sept. 16, 1995.
Survivors include: five sons, Leroy, Marvin and Abraham, all of Ringwood, Okla., and Edward and Harvey, both of Louisville, Ga.; two daughters, Lydia Dueck, Cartwright, Manitoba, Canada, and Velma Friesen, Elma, Manitoba, Canada; 38 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vada Friesen; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Fairview, Okla., with Ministers Myron Nightingale, Leonard Koehn and Randy Levings presiding. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery, Fairview, Okla.

GREAT BEND - Kathleen Lutz, 70, died Jan. 1, 2005, at her home, Great Bend.
She was born Nov. 15, 1934, at Great Bend, the daughter of Walter and Jennie Schartz Kummer. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a certified public accountant.
She belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Community, Great Bend, St. Patrick Altar Society, E.S.A. Sorority and the University of Kansas Alumni Association.
On Oct. 16, 1965, she married
Denis Lutz at Great Bend. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, D.J., Paducah, Ky., Dan, Dickinson, Texas, and Kent, Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Michelle Kumke, Tooele, Utah; a brother, Tom Kummer, Great Bend; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Altar Society rosary will be at 4 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery.

NORTH NEWTON - Marjorie J. Kessler, 80, died Jan. 1, 2005, at Kidron Bethel Health Care, North Newton.
She was born June 10, 1924, at Jamesport, Mo., the daughter of Virgil and Flossie Hutchison Kilburn.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Newton, and Sunshine Mother's Club.
On Oct. 25, 1950, she married
Gervase Kessler. He preceded her in death, Aug. 12, 1981.
Survivors include: three sons, Gary, Newton, Gordon, Wichita, and Stanley Alexander, Excelsior Springs, Mo; a daughter, Judy Morris, Warsaw, Mo.; two sisters, Edna Lyon, Wheatland, Mo., and Rosa Lee Orr, Kidder, Mo; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buell and Harold Kilburn; and a sister, Dorothy Alexander.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with Chaplain Karen Andres presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
