Doris R. 'Dory' Walker Corson
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Doris R. "Dory" Walker Corson, 77, of Zionsville, passed away September 9, 2004.
Doris was born July 24, 1927, in Indianapolis and was a 1945 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She had worked in Human Resources at Eli Lilly & Company from 1947 until her retirement in 1987. Dory loved all sports especially golf, fishing and bowling. In recent years, she spent a great deal of her time taking care of her best friend and devoted companion, "Buster, " her cat. Mrs. Corson is survived by her brother, Jerald N. Walker, sisters-in-law, Janice K. Kinney and her husband, George, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kathryne F. Corson of Goshen, Indiana, nieces, Debra K. Corson of Anderson, Indiana, Brenda K. Carlson and her husband, Len, of Monticello, Minnesota, nephews, Gregory D. Kinney and his wife, Lezlee, of Wichita, Kansas, Michael P. Kinney and his wife, Meagan, of Hutchinson, Kansas, and 8 great-nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband, Robert B. Corson, mother, Catherine Nissen Walker, and niece, Nancy Rae Walker, preceded Mrs. Corson in death. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2004, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, Zionsville. A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, September 13, 2004, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, Zionsville, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service on Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Corson's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
Jim Hampton
ULYSSES - Jim Hampton, 77, died Sept. 9, 2004, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
He was born May 9, 1927, at Ulysses, the son of James Dallas and Nina Olive Turner Hampton. He lived in Dallas for 20 years, working as a brick layer before moving back to Ulysses and farming since the 1960s.
He belonged to Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post No. 79 and Pheasants Forever, Ulysses. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Aug. 21, 1944, he married
Betty Jean Chapman at Dallas. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Michelle Manzano, Ulysses, and Kim Paris, Purdon, Texas; a sister, Martha Miller, Sublette; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Church of Christ, Ulysses, with Minister Warren Baldwin presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post No. 79.

Josephine F. Scheib
DODGE CITY - Josephine F. Scheib, 87, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.
She was born Jan. 23, 1917, at Dodge City, the daughter of Al and Birdie Johnson Deister. A lifetime Dodge City resident, she graduated from St. Mary's Academy of Dodge City and Emporia State University.
She belonged to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Altar Society, Philomath Club and PEO Chapter CF, all at Dodge City.
On Feb. 14, 1946, she married
Jesse Edward Scheib at Dodge City. He died March 2, 1974.
Survivors include: a daughter, Susan Wadlow, Kansas City, Mo.; and three brothers, Bill Deister, Leawood, Bob Deister, Clifton, Colo., and Larry Deister, Bedford, Pa.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greencrest Cemetery, Dodge City.

Eleanor Baier
GARDEN CITY - Eleanor Baier, 93, died Sept. 10, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City.
She was born July 4, 1911, at Victoria, the daughter of John and Rose Brungardt Prevo. She attended Victoria schools. A resident of Garden City since 1961, formerly of Holcomb, Billingham, Wash., Racine, Wis., and Deerfield, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, Daughters of Isabella, Senior Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and TOPS Club.
On May 11, 1929, she married
Antone Baier at Chicago. He died May 16, 1961.
Survivors include: six sons, Albert, Tony, Robert, John, all of Garden City and Gary and Bill, both of Holcomb; three daughters, Carolyn Benton, Kansas City, Mo., Mary Ann Metts, Joplin, Mo., and Dorothy Fairchild, Okmulgee, Okla.; a brother, Bill Prevo, Kenosha, Wis.; two sisters, Rose Tyunaitis, Kenosha, Wis., and Margaret Niernberger, Lansing, Mich.; 31 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Tom and Richard; a daughter, Anita Savolt; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Vigil service and Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Father James E. Baker presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, both at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Vicki L. Goertzen
GOESSEL - Vicki L. Goertzen, 46, died Sept. 10, 2004, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.
She was born Dec. 31, 1957, at Newton, the daughter of Franklin and Eleanora Unruh Goertzen. She attended Bethel College for two years. A lifelong Goessel area resident, she was a cook.
She belonged to Tabor Mennonite Church, near Goessel.
Survivors include: a brother, Dr. David, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Patty Seibel, Silver Spring, Md.; and her mother.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tabor Mennonite Church, near Goessel, with the Rev. Corey Miller presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Goessel. Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Tabor Cemetery, near Goessel.

LARNED - Lola Maxine Smith, 64, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend.
She was born Feb. 24, 1940, at Glen Elder, the daughter of Walter J. and Gladys M. Woddell Smith. She was a Great Bend resident since 1998, moving from Larned.
She attended First Southern Baptist Church, Great Bend.
Survivors include: a brother, Lowell Smith, Locke, N.Y.; and three sisters, Rowena Smith, Wichita, Paula Smith, Larned, and Rose Bateson, Topeka.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Larned Cemetery, with Pastor Doyle Smith presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and until service time on Monday, all at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.

Mary Ann Gallagher
Mary Ann Gallagher, 66, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1938, at Maryville, Mo. A 30-year resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her mother, Ruth M. Horton, Hutchinson; three daughters, Jill Smith, Wichita, Brenda Becker and Linda Folle, both of Hutchinson; two grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Monaghan, both of Wichita.
Cremation is planned. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Lawson Roy Pleasant
LARNED - Lawson Roy Pleasant, infant, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
He was born Sept. 9, 2004, the son of Steven Roy and Jessica Taylor Pleasant.
Survivors include: his parents, Larned; a brother, Layton R.; Larned; and grandparents, Terry and Teri Taylor, Bill and Sharla Woods, all of Larned, and Steve and Shirly Pleasant, Wichita.
A private graveside service will be held in Larned Cemetery, Larned, with Gene Price presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, all at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned.

Francis J. 'Frank' Kuhn
VICTORIA - Francis J. "Frank" Kuhn, 68, died Oct. 10, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born March 22, 1936, at Victoria, the son of August and Helen Dreiling Kuhn. A lifetime resident of Victoria, he worked at Rhyne Excavating, then was a partner with Kuhn and Mai Excavating, Russell, before working for Schmidtberger Construction, Victoria, and then Producers Gas. He then worked in the oil fields until his death. He also was a farmer for 30 years.
He belonged to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria.
On April 19, 1958, he married
Estella Schippers at Victoria. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Francis J. "Buddy" Jr. and Curtis, both of Wichita; two daughters, Rose Ann Dreiling and Brenda Dreiling, both of Victoria; three brothers, Louis, Hays, Jim, Topeka, and Cliff, Kansas City, Kan.; four sisters, Leona Wellbrock, Victoria, Merlene Wellbrock, Anthony, Ellen Dickerson, Tulsa, Okla., and Norma Wellbrock, Hays; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Ralph and Elmer, three sisters, Juanita Kuhn, Dolorosa Berens and Alice Haselhorst, and a infant brother, August.
A Sisters of St. Agnes prayer service will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 7:30 p.m., all at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.

Anna Lee White
GARDEN CITY - Anna Lee White, 82, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City.
She was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Russelville, Mo., the daughter of Dr. L.M. and Daisy Earl Musick Bond. In 1961, she moved from Wichita to Garden City, where she owned and operated Phillips-White Funeral Home with her husband until her retirement in 1987. In 1990, she moved back to Wichita and lived there for eight years, returning to Garden City in 1998.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Southwest Kansas China Painters Association and Chapter X PEO, all of Garden City.
On Sept. 1, 1941, she married
Frank Edward White in Wichita. He died Feb. 20, 1996.
Survivors include: two daughters, Anita Kay Salyer, Garden City, and Leslie Tieszen, Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Old Mission Mausoleum Chapel, Wichita, with Pastor Paul Owens Bond presiding. Interment will be in Old Mission Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita.
