Vella Eliza Parks
COLDWATER - Vella Eliza Parks, 97, died Oct. 19, 2004, at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham.
She was born May 3, 1907, near St. John, in Stafford County, the daughter of Julius and Belva Findley Parks. She attended Tin Top Country School, graduated from Coldwater High School and attended Teachers' College in Pittsburgh. A Cunningham resident for the last 15 years, formerly of Muskogee, Okla., Grand Junction, Colo., Offerle and Salina, she was a physical therapist in the U.S. Army at the Veterans' Hospital, Grand Junction. She was also a teacher.
She belonged to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Salina, R.O.A.F., the American Physiotherapy Association, and the American Registry of Physical Therapists. She was a retired major in the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1967. She served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Survivors include: three brothers, Raymond "Pete" Parks, Hutchinson, Martin Parks, Coldwater, and Rex Parks, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Dessie Stephenson, Woodward, Okla.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilburn "Buck" Parks, Richard "Dick" Parks, and Orville "Jack" Parks; and two sisters, Dorothy Means and Verda Strohwitz.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, with full military honors and with Pastor Doug Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Anita M. Seeney
NEWTON - Anita M. Seeney, 80, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Kansas Christian Home, Newton.
She was born at Geneseo, the daughter of Refugio and Pauline Diaz Salas.
She belonged to Altar Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Newton.
Survivors include: her mother; three stepsons, William, Peabody, Michael, Newton, and Alan Seeney, Kansas; two stepdaughters, Barbara Walker and Beverly Harris, Troy, Texas; three brothers, Michael and Raymond, both of Newton, and Rudy Salas, Wichita; and a sister, Joan Seeney Alvarez, Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Seeney; a brother, Moyses Salas; and a sister, Benilda Luna.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Chapel, Newton. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton, with the Rev. Floyd McKinney presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.

Jinnie Lynn Holt
MINNEOLA - Jinnie Lynn Holt, 2, died Oct. 17, 2004, near Spearville, due to an automobile accident.
She was born Nov. 4, 2001, at Dodge City, the daughter of Jimmie D. and Angela M. Dimitt Holt.
Survivors include: a brother, Ethan Holt; a sister, Allaysia M. Holt, Minneola; grandmother, Peggy Jensen, Cimarron; grandfather, Jim Holt, Vista, Calif.; grandmother, Lynn Donley, Minneola; great-grandmother, Loujene Story, Minneola; great-grandfather, Joye Donley, Dodge City; great-grandparents, Russell and Nete Griffin, Damascus, Ark.; step-grandfather, Ray Blackburn; and grandfather, Chris Gulick, Bellefont.

Amber Renee Dimitt
MINNEOLA - Amber Renee Dimitt, 20, died Oct. 17, 2004, near Spearville, due to an automobile accident.
She was born Nov. 22, 1983, at Dodge City, the daughter of Joe D. and Virginia L. Donley Rumsey. A Minneola resident since 1995, moving from Haysville, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her father, Cimarron; her mother, Minneola; stepfather, Ray Blackburn; two sons, Jayden Leterle, Spearville, and Skyler Kipp, Minneola; two brothers, Cody and Adam Rumsey, Cimarron; three sisters, Kristi Dimitt-Martinez, Dodge City, Angela Dimitt-Holt, Minneola, and Taylor Rumsey, Cimarron; grandmother, Loujene Story, Minneola; grandfather, Joye Donley, Dodge City; and step-grandmother, Joyce Pearson, Dodge City.
Her fiance, Dustin Kipp, also was killed in the accident.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Minnis Mortuary Chapel, Minneola. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Appleton Township Cemetery, near Minneola.

Clifford Delmont Blount
COLDWATER - Clifford Delmont Blount, 88, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 9, 1916, on a farm near Buttermilk, the son of Clyde A. and Mary Hammond Blount. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1934. A lifetime Comanche County resident, he was a farmer.
He belonged to Antioch Community Church, Buttermilk, was President of Coldwater Pleasure Club, delivered Meals-On-Wheels and helped with church services at the Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945.
On Feb. 8, 1941, he married
Fayette Dickinson at Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Richard, Camas, Wash., and Philip Blount, Viena, Va.; a brother, Oscar Blount, Coldwater; two grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a sister, June Whitzel.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Coldwater, with the Rev. Kent Little and Pastor Doug Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, with full military honors.

GREAT BEND - Juan Jose Robles, 56, health care administrator and retired U.S. Army veteran of 22 years, died Oct. 17, 2004.
Survivors include: his parents, Flavio C. and Maria Robles; a son, Rick Robles; a daughter, Jennifer McCartha; brothers, Flavio, Noah, Richard, Tony and Michael Robles; sisters, Gloria Chuy and Janie Cunningham; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Fort Riley National Cemetery.

Everett Berten Maphet Sr.
ROSSTON, Okla. - Everett Berten Maphet Sr., 99, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Harper County Community Hospital, Buffalo, Okla.
He was born Oct. 31, 1904, at Sylvia, the son of Charles Luther and Elizabeth Rosella Combs Maphet. He graduated from Laurence Friends Academy, near Gate, Okla., in 1923. A lifetime Rosston and Gate area resident, he was a farmer, rancher and carpenter.
He belonged to Rosston United Methodist Church.
On Nov. 9, 1926, he married
Leona Lucille Carpenter at Ashland. She died June 5, 1976.
Survivors include: a son, Darrell Leroy Maphet, Rosston; two daughters, Betty Ann Lively, Rosston, and Patsy Lou Bayliff, Tuttle, Okla.; a sister, Lillian Eells, Gate; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Everett Berten Maphet Jr.; two brothers, Laurence and David Maphet; four sisters, Delma Stanley, Maxine Herron, Allena Maphet and Elodine Maphet.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Gate Friends Church, Gate, with the Revs. Lyle Whiteman and Larry Bowen presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, Laverne, Okla. Burial will be in Gate Cemetery.

PLAINVILLE - Dustin Scott Kipp, 19, died Oct. 17, 2004, at rural Dodge City as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born June 7, 1985, at Great Bend, the son of Scott Hilliard and DeAnn Kipp. A resident of Plainville, he was an assembly worker for Adronics/Elrod company, Hays.
Survivors include: a son, Skyler Kipp, Plainville; his father, Great Bend; mother and stepfather, Perrell Stanley, Plainville; two brothers, Nathan Becker, Great Bend, and Jerrid Kipp, Ellsworth; a sister, Terra Keil, Plainville; four stepbrothers, Davvid Stanley, Perrell Stanley, Matthew Stanley and Rylee Stanley, all of Norton; grandparents, Doris Hilliard, Great Bend, Betty Kipp, Great Bend, Wayne and June Portnier, Jamestown, Tenn., and Russ and Donna Stanley, Lincoln, Neb.; and great-grandmother, Irene Sargent, Great Bend.
His companion, Amber Dimitt, was also fatally injured in the accident.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Interment will be in Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood.

David P. Dreier
HESSTON - David P. Dreier 26, died Oct. 17, 2004, in rural Burrton.
He was born Oct. 3, 1978, at Newton, the son of Galen and Debra Howard Dreier. A Hesston resident for most of his life, except for six years living in Wichita, he was a carpenter and construction worker.
He belonged to Countryside Christian Center, Newton, Wichita Christian Center of Wichita, and Hesston Inter-Mennonite Fellowship, Hesston.
Survivors include: his parents, Hesston; four brothers, Matthew and Luke, both of North Newton, and Kendall and Randall, both of the home; two sisters, Jody Dreier, Stillwater, Okla., and Adrianna Dreier, of the home; and grandparents, Dorothy Dreier, Hesston, and Duron and DonElla Howard, Waurika, Okla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and a grandfather, Delbert Dreier.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hesston Inter-Mennonite Fellowship, with the Rev. Scott Miller presiding. A dinner will follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston. The casket will be closed. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Hesston.

NEWTON - Elizabeth Wherrell, 76, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Friendly Acres Retirement Community, Newton.
She was born June 29, 1928, at Wichita, the daughter of Alfred and Myrtle Johnson Cook. She was employed by Friendly Acres Retirement Community for 20 years in the housekeeping department.
She belonged to Assembly of God Church and Eagle's Lodge Auxiliary, both at Newton.
On Feb. 27, 1954, she married
Lloyd J. Wherrell at Wichita. He died May 14, 2004.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael, Peck, and Marc Wherrell, Manhattan; two daughters, Mary Ann Lasiter, Newton, and Myra Hilmer, Eureka; a brother, David Cook, Horsaka, Texas; a sister, Esther Lane, Augusta; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, with the Rev. Lloyd Mattocks presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
