Elizabeth Evans
TURON - Elizabeth Evans, 78, died Oct. 21, 2004, at her home.
She was born Oct. 12, 1926, at Dodge City, the daughter of Charles and Marie Keller Bargdill. A 12-year resident of Turon, moving from Arlington, she was a homemaker. She was a registered nurse and EMT volunteer at Arlington for 10 years. She loved being outside working in her flowers and garden. Elizabeth and Dale farmed together for over 40 years.
On Dec. 21, 1947, she married
Dale Evans at Turon Methodist Church. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Brad Evans and wife Janelle, Bryan Evans and wife Sarah, and Jeff Evans; a daughter, Dalanna Browning and husband Rod; a brother, Charles Bargdill, Wichita; two sisters, Marjorie Wilkins, N.Y., and Elinor Dumas, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Turon Community Church, with Pastor Steve Gill presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Funeral Home, Turon. Burial will be in Turon Cemetery, Turon.

Victor Eugene Stucky
SALINA - Victor Eugene Stucky, 83, died Oct. 10, 2004, at Denver, Colo.
He was born Feb. 19, 1921, at Castleton. He was a retired Salesman of Welding Products.
Survivors include: former spouse, Ruth Stucky, Atchison; three sons, Steven, Ithaca, N.Y., Scott, Dripping Springs, Texas, and Mark Stucky, Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Sherry Stucky Clark, Coos Bay, Ore., and Judith Stucky, Englewood, Colo.; two sisters, Florence Hayes, Hutchinson, and Ruth Galle, Moundridge; and seven grandchildren.
Private family service will be held in November in Denver, Colo. The cremation services were handled by Monarch Society, Denver.

Laura Unruh
MONTEZUMA - Laura Schmidt Unruh, 97, died Oct. 23, 2004, at her daughter's home, Arkansas City.
She was born Dec. 18, 1906. A five-year resident of Arkansas City, formerly of Montezuma, she worked as a farm wife.
On March 7, 1926, she married
Albert F. Schmidt at Fairview, Okla. He died June 1, 1965. Then, in 1970, she married
De Dan Unruh. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, Chester A. Schmidt, Arlington; two daughters; three stepsons, including Arlin Unruh, Liberal; two stepdaughters; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Mennonite Church, Montezuma, with Minister Ervey Unruh presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Montezuma Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma, with Minister Charles Schmidt presiding.

Fred J. Markee
NEWTON - Fred J. Markee, 82, died Oct. 23, 2004, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Nov. 22, 1921, at Newton, the son of Jason and Lutie Zimmerman Markee. A resident of Newton, he worked as a railroad engineer for Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 1980.
He belonged to Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 AF and AM.
He served his country during World War II at Japan and the Philippines.
On June 1, 1952, he married
Mildred Dick at Newton. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Jean Scott, Wichita, and Francis Dunlap, Plainville.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, with Pastor Mark Issac presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.

Gaye Renee Stivers
MEDICINE LODGE - Gaye Renee Stivers, 49, died Oct. 23, 2004, at her home, Medicine Lodge.
She was born Sept. 6, 1955, at Russell, the daughter of Kenneth Elder and Joyce Nowak Elder. She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1973. A Medicine Lodge resident for the last four years, moving from Pratt, she was a bookkeeper and homemaker.
She belonged to the Catholic faith.
On Aug. 25, 1983, she married
Mike Stivers at Colorado Springs, Colo. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Cody Stivers, El Dorado; a daughter, Cheyann Stivers, of the home, Medicine Lodge; two brothers, Ron and wife, Anna, Medicine Lodge, and Greg Elder and wife, Kathy, Houston, Texas; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Don C. Rider.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters and Father John Strasser presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Frieda S. Kaufman
KINGMAN - Frieda Sarah Kaufman, 90, died Oct. 24, 2004, at Kingman Community Hospital.
She was born May 25, 1914, near Pretty Prairie, the daughter of Benjamin B. and Fanny Stucky Graber. A Kingman County resident for most of her life, she was a homemaker.
On Oct. 23, 1938, she married
Clifford "Cliff" Kaufman. He died Jan. 25, 2001.
Survivors include: a son and his wife, Clemon and Jane Kaufman, Pretty Prairie; two daughters and their husbands, Connie and Chuck Gehring and Carol and Dale Voran, all of Kingman; two sisters, Rosella Risley and Ann Schroeder, both of Kingman; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Phil and Marvin Graber, and a sister, Edith Fahrney.
Graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Kingman Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Kingman. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, with the Rev. Lester Zook presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m., at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.

Juanita M. Oliver
NEWTON - Juanita M. Oliver, 73, died Oct. 22, 2004, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1931, at Glenco, Okla., the daughter of William Davis Ritchey and Roxie Mae Dobbs.
On March 21, 1953, she married
Noel Oliver. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Steve Oliver, Newton; a daughter, Irma Zinn, Arkansas City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Elk City with Pastors Danny Eden and Michael Dursham presiding.

Theodore L. Dix
PRATT - Theodore L. "Ted" Dix, 97, died Oct. 24, 2004, at Friendship Manor, Pratt.
He was born Dec. 13, 1906, at Ingall, Okla., the son of Arthur Joseph and Sadie Cooper Dix. A Pratt resident for more than 40 years, moving from Cunningham, he was a retired production superintendent with Skelly Oil Co.
He belonged to First Southern Baptist Church and Elks Lodge, both of Pratt.
On Sept. 18, 1987, he married
Dorothy Mason at Woodward, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Sandra Kay Dix, Augusta; a stepson, Kenneth Welch, Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Pearl Teel, Bristow, Okla., and Delora Love, Toledo, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dix, and his first wife, Loyce.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, with Pastors Mike McGovney and Bill Gandy presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Maude Cemetery, Cunningham.

Carnie F. Miller
McPHERSON - Carnie F. Miller, 62, died Oct. 24, 2004, at his home, McPherson.
He was born Nov. 17, 1941, at Hazel Valley, Ark., the son of Carnie F. and Flora Johnson Miller. He graduated from Man High School, Man, W. Va. He was employed as a salesman at Hanover Corp., Houston, since 2001 and was medically retired. He began his employment with a company originally known as Kansas Cylinder Head, McPherson, in 1963 and continued until 2001 with the company.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, McPherson, and formerly served on the board of trustees and as an alternate head usher of the church. He also belonged to American Legion Post No. 24, McPherson.
On March 22, 1963, he married
Donna J. Brown at Salina. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Darren Miller, McPherson; two daughters, Ronda Hawkinson, McPherson, and Sarah Marshall, Stillwell; a sister, Louann Tallarico, Zanesville, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, with the Revs. Mike Marion and Harold Nelson presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Chapel, McPherson. Interment will be in McPherson Cemetery.
