Orpha G. Freeman
Orpha G. Freeman, 81, died Oct. 24, 2004, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 29, 1922, at Great Bend, the daughter of Wesley and Orpha E. Leatherbury. A 57-year Hutchinson resident, she worked as a Retail Clerk at Ben Franklin and retired as an Insurance Agent for Royal Neighbors of America Insurance.
She belonged to First Church of God, Hutchinson, and was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
On Feb. 20, 1945, she married
Robert A. Freeman at Garden City. He died Feb. 27, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary and Larry, both of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Pastor John Carney presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

John W. Broils Jr.
GREAT BEND - John W. Broils Jr., 94, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 1, 1910, at Council Grove, the son of John W. and Hortense Campbell Broils Sr. A resident of Great Bend since 1942, moving from Russell, he worked for Merings and Son Station and Great Bend Park Department, retiring in 1975.
He belonged to Myers Chapel AME Church. He was Chairman of the Trustee Board and served on the Steward Board.
On Jan. 15, 1938, he married
Lou Franklin at Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Marion and wife Wanda, Kansas City, Mo., and William and wife Joyce, Topeka; a daughter-in-law, Billie Broils, Larned; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Loyce Clay presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to service time Monday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Rachael A. Breneman
KINGMAN - Rachael A. Breneman, 91, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Kingman Community Hospital.
She was born Nov. 21, 1912, at Kingman, the daughter of John L. and Maud E. Barkley Hoover. A lifetime resident of Kingman, she was a homemaker and a World War II Beech Aircraft employee.
She belonged to Kingman Christian Church and Naomi Circle, both at Kingman.
On March 19, 1933, she married
Victor A. Breneman at Lyons. He died Jan. 20, 2002.
Survivors include: a son, Gary A., Reston, Va.; a daughter, Selinda A. Setchell, Wichita; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Ellis G. and John Robert Hoover.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kingman Christian Church, with the Rev. Karen Ault presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, all at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Annabel Kostner
KINGMAN - Annabel Kostner, 90, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Norwich Care Center.
She was born Dec. 7, 1913, at Penalosa, the daughter of Norman and Elsie Hartley Beerman. A longtime resident of the Kingman community, she was a retired teacher in the Dale, Cleveland and Norwich schools.
She belonged to United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Kingman, NEA and KNEA.
On June 1, 1939, she married
Merton Kostner at Penalosa. He died May 8, 2001.
Survivors include: a son, Jim, Emporia; and a grandson, Tobias Kostner, Emporia.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marianne; two brothers, Wendel and Lyle Beerman; and two sisters, Norma Dutton and Edna "Eddie" Peterson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with the Rev. John Schmitt presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.

GALVA - Chantz Giovanni Olson, 21 days, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 30, 2004, at Wichita, the son of Kristy Olson.
Survivors include: his mother.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, with the Rev. Jack Smith presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the chapel.
Interment will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Marvel Elizabeth Smith
HOISINGTON - Marvel Elizabeth "Patti" Smith, 83, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center, Hoisington.
She was born March 17, 1921, at Simla, Colo., the daughter of B. Rex and Edith Venora Pease Hixson. A resident of Hoisington since 1971, coming from Phoenix, she was a homemaker and former American Airline stewardess.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter GG, both of Hoisington, and was a former member of McConnell Singers, Phoenix.
On Jan. 2, 1946, she married
Lawrence R. Smith at New York City. He died July 22, 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Bradford L., Hoisington; two daughters, Marlena Rae Miller and her husband, Dr. Steven Miller, Bismarck, N.D., and Terri Elizabeth Anderson, Hollywood, Fla.; three brothers, Lee Merle Hixson, Lamar, Colo., George Rex Hixson, Pendleton, Ore., and Calvin Loren Hixson, Fowler, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Hoisington, with the Rev. Wayne Flanders presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

COATS - Kathryn I. Lambert, 62, died Oct. 21, 2004, at her home, Coats.
She was born March 24, 1942, at Fall City, Neb., the daughter of Jim and Mabel Ashland Schafer. She worked as a truck driver.
On Sept. 1, 1974, she married
Doyle R. Lambert at Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Newton E. Dyche, Coats; two brothers, Charles and Cecil, both of Yakima, Wash.; three sisters, Alice Lee, Ellinwood, Mary Heintman, Moxie, Wash., and Helen Richmond, Selma, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Schafer.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Friends may sign the register book from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt.

Waunita Murphey
COLDWATER - Waunita "Tootie" Murphey, 95, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Country Oaks Care Center, Santa Maria, Calif.
She was born Jan. 6, 1909, at Woods County, Okla. A resident of California since 1996, moving from Coldwater and formerly of Enterprise and Protection, she was a farm wife, homemaker and waitress.
On Oct. 13, 1931, she married
F. G. "Bill" Murphey at Greensburg. He died Nov. 30, 1993.
Survivors include: a daughter, Willetta Jean Young Garner, Nipomo, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Riner; and three sisters, Beatrice Smith, Violet Scholle and Geneva Teverbaugh.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, with Chet Mendenhall presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Protection Cemetery.

Harry W. Vinson
DENVER - Harry W. Vinson, 81, died Oct. 20, 2004, of lung cancer.
He was born Oct. 14, 1923, on a farm near Garfield. He graduated from Fort Hays State University. A resident of Denver since 1954, living in the Larned/Garfield area for his early life, he worked in the steel business until his retirement from U.S. Steel in 1986.
On Aug. 27, 1948, he married
Dorothy Tuttle. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons; a daughter; a sister, Lois Moeckel, Hutchinson; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Washington Park United Methodist Church. National Cremation Society, Englewood, Colo., is in charge of arrangements.
