Charles Allen Kennedy
WICHITA - Charles Allen Kennedy, 81, died Oct. 22, 2004, at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born Aug. 25, 1923, at Halstead. A 40-year resident of Wichita, he was a machinist at Cessna Aircraft.

He belonged to Hicks-Davison American Legion Post No. 268, Sedgwick.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

On March 12, 1946, he married Marjorie Lola Call at Wichita. She died Nov. 14, 1991.

Survivors include: a son, Robert Kennedy, Wichita; three daughters, Charlene Shingler, Bloomfield, N.M., Robin Blumenthal, Puyallup, Wash., and Kathy Hale, Girard; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley, with the Rev. Nancy Lambing presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

Memorials may be sent to Hicks-Davison American Legion Post No. 268, Sedgwick, in care of the funeral home.

Jon Q. Poindexter
ANTHONY - Jon Quinton Poindexter, 36, died Oct. 20, 2004, at Anthony.

He was born Oct. 23, 1967, at Anthony, the son of John W. and Debra Lee McCreery Poindexter. An Anthony resident, he was a cook.

He belonged to the Baptist Church, Harper.

On June 14, 2004, he married Linnell Lipps. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Zane Poindexter, Anthony; two daughters, Julia Poindexter-Castleman, Larned, and LaTisha Gardner, Wichita; his father, Nashville, Kan.; three brothers, Nate Ball, Wichita, Noah Ball, Lawrence, and Sean Connors, Albany, N.Y.; two sisters, Sandy Poindexter, Denver, and Tessa Duncan, Wichita; and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Anthony, with Pastor Mike Friend presiding. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Anthony.

Memorials may be sent to the Quinton Poindexter Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary or First National Bank of Anthony.

Marge A. Bateman
Marge A. Bateman died Oct. 23, 2004, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born at Partridge, the daughter of Freeman J. and Bertha M. Ozbun Hall. She graduated from Partridge High School. A Hutchinson resident since 1928, she had been a PBX operator for Sears Roebuck and Co., San Diego. She also had worked more than 12 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone, Hutchinson, as a PBX operator for 28 years for Kansas State Fair, and 28 years for Reno County Tax Department as a cashier during the tax season.

She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Wheathearts Camping Club and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

On Oct. 23, 1934, she married Calvin Bateman at Medford, Okla. He died Oct. 7, 1997.

Survivors include: a brother, Fred Hall, Modesto, Calif.; and two sisters, Helen Culver and Grace Reichert, both of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Henry and Art.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to the church or Good Samaritan Center, both in care of the mortuary.

Carlos A. Dominguez
GARDEN CITY - Carlos Alberto Dominguez, 27, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.

He was born June 5, 1977, at Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Guillermo and Carmen Santos Dominguez. He was attending Southwest Kansas Technical School, Liberal, for welding. Moving from Mexico in 1988, he lived at Liberal until 1998 when he moved to Garden City. He worked as a maintenance man for Tyson.

He attended St. Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Jose Carlos and Angel Daniel, both of Garden City; his parents, Garden City; two brothers, Jesus Arturo, Homestead, Fla., and Guillermo, Garden City; a sister, Veronica Dominguez, Garden City; a grandmother, Antonia Dominguez, El Paso, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

Vigil service will be at 8 p.m. Monday with rosary to follow at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, Garden City, with Father Juan P. Guerra presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday all at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Memorials may be sent to the Carlos Alberto Dominguez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.

Innis L. Croft
ANTHONY - Innis L. Croft, 56, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Anthony.

He was born July 12, 1948, at Anthony, the son of Dee Samuel and Ruby May Sharp Croft. A resident of Anthony, he was a farmer/stockman.

He was on the Board of Directors for Pratt Feeders, Ashland Feeders, Hays Feeders, and Buffalo, Okla., Feeders. He was a 10-year member of Anthony Hospital Board, a life member of Kansas State University Alumni Association and former Masonic Lodge member. He recently was appointed board member of Hogar del Ninos de Emanuel Children's Home, Juarez, Mexico.

On Jan. 30, 1970, he married Susan Hoskinson at Cottonwood Falls. She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Erin Albright, Anthony, Ashley Traylor, Carbondale, Colo.; a sister, Dixie Rodkey, Houston; four nephews; and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Anthony, with the Revs. Nathan Stanton and Stan Hughes presiding.

Memorials may be sent to the Anthony United Methodist Church Mission Scholarship Fund, Hogar del Ninos de Emanuel Children's Home, Juarez, Mexico, in care of Kanza Bank, Anthony.

Victor Eugene Stucky
SALINA - Victor Eugene Stucky, 83, died Oct. 10, 2004, at Denver, Colo.

He was born Feb. 19, 1921, at Castleton. He was a retired Salesman of Welding Products.

Survivors include: former spouse, Ruth Stucky, Atchison; three sons, Steven Stucky, Ithaca, N.Y., Scott Stucky, Dripping Springs, Texas, and Mark Stucky, Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Sherry Stucky Clark, Coos Bay, Ore., and Judith Stucky, Englewood, Colo.; two sisters, Florence Hayes, Hutchinson, and Ruth Galle, Moundridge; and seven grandchildren.

Private family service will be held in November in Denver, Colo. The cremation services were handled by Monarch Society, Denver.

Floyd L. Miller
ELKHART - Floyd L. "Bud" Miller, 82, died Oct. 23, 2004, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City.

He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Texas County, Okla., the son of Walter and Edna Richterberg Miller. He graduated from Elkhart High School. A resident of Elkhart, he was a farmer.

He belonged to First Church of God and Church of the Nazarene, both at Elkhart, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3162.

He served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

On Oct. 22, 1949, he married Shirley Sweem at Clayton, N.M. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Marla Harris, Anita Fletcher, both of Elkhart, and Shanna Heiskell, Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Lois Elaine Ewing, Tuttle, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, David, and a brother, Lloyd.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nazarene, Elkhart, with Pastors Jimmye Cole and Ron Crosley presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart. Burial will follow in Elkhart Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Elkhart Church of the Nazarene Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Eula C. Herzberg
LIBERAL - Eula C. Herzberg, 94, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.

She was born Feb. 23, 1910, at Liberal, the daughter of Edward F. and Minnie Eldridge Campbell. She attended high school at Goodwell, Okla. She grew up at Domby, Okla., and moved to Liberal. She lived at Guymon, Okla., Odessa, Texas, and Stillwater, Okla., before returning to Liberal in 2003.

She attended Central Christian Church, Liberal.

On June 6, 1929, she married Harlan Munger. Then, on Aug. 7, 1964, she married Floyd Herzberg. He died in 1969.

Survivors include: a son, Darrel Munger, Centrailia, Mo.; a daughter, Anita Parnell, Liberal; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.

Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Union Center Cemetery, rural Adams, Okla., with Spence Powers presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal.
