Viola Murphy
SUBLETTE - Viola Murphy, 80, died Oct. 23, 2004, at her home, Sublette.
She was born Oct. 3, 1924, at Bentonville, Ark., the daughter of Conley and Minnie Velma Glenn Oxford. A resident of Sublette since 1948, moving from Neosho, Mo., she worked as a nurse's aide at Satanta District Hospital for several years.
She belonged to Garden Valley Sams Camping Club, Garden City.
On Aug. 25, 1941, she married
George Murphy at Neosho, Mo. He survives, Sublette.
Other survivors include: a son, George Edwin, Knightsen, Calif.; a daughter, Clara Russom, Sublette; three brothers, Albert Oxford, Dodge City, William Oxford, Littleton, Colo., and Leonard Oxford, Ulysses; three sisters, Geraldine Ribbing and Ida Mae Davis, both of Scott City, and Velma Campbell, Garden City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: two infant sons; a foster daughter, who she raised for many years, Mary Alice Murphy Clymer; and a brother, J. D. Oxford.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southern Baptist Church, Sublette, with Ministers Dan Pearce and Joe Dunlap presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Harry J. Werth
VICTORIA - Harry J. Werth, 84, died Oct. 23, 2004, at St. John's of Victoria Nursing Home.
He was born June 14, 1920, at Schoenchen, the son of Anton and Catherine Zimmerman Werth. He graduated from Schoenchen High School. He worked at Hays City Flour Mill from 1946 to 1962 and then at Cessna, Hutchinson, until his retirement in 1985, returning to Hays in the early 1990s.
He belonged to St. Joseph's Council No. 1325 of Knights of Columbus, Hays.
He was a veteran of World War II.
On Sept. 10, 1946, he married
Lucille Wasinger at Hays. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, James, Grand Island, Neb.; a daughter, Kathy Powers, Littleton, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday followed by Knights of Columbus rosary. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Church, Schoenchen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Elizabeth Evans
TURON - Elizabeth Evans, 78, died Oct. 21, 2004, at her home, Turon.
She was born Oct. 1, 1926, at Dodge City, the daughter of Charles and Marie Keller Bargdill. A 12-year resident of Turon, moving from Arlington, she was a homemaker. She was a registered nurse and EMT volunteer at Arlington for 10 years. She loved her flower garden and worked alongside her husband for more than 40 years farming.
On Dec. 21, 1947, she married
Dale Evans at Turon. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons and their wives, Brad and Janelle, Bryan and Sarah, and Jeff; a daughter, Dalanna Browning and husband Rod; a brother, Charles, Wichita; two sisters, Marjorie Wilkins, N. Y., and Elinor Dumas, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Turon Community Church, with Pastor Steve Gill presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Funeral Home, Turon. Burial will be in Turon Cemetery.

Richard H. St. Aubyn
HAYS - Richard H. "Saint" St. Aubyn, 79, died Oct. 22, 2004, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1925, at Russell, the son of Guy and Lydia DeWald St. Aubyn. A resident of Hays, he was a petroleum engineer for more than 32 years at Schlumberger Petroleum.
He served in the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 1, 1945, he married
Henrietta Mickey Hauschild at Hays. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randy, Hutchinson, and Rod, Fargo, N.D.; a daughter, Vicki Escherich, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; three sisters, Betty Dillon, Arkansas City, Peggy Ehrlich, Russell, and Daneldo St. Aubyn, Great Bend; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays, with military honors conducted by Hays American Legion.

Martha M. Berger
NORTH NEWTON - Martha M. Berger, 96, died Oct. 20, 2004, at Kidron Bethel Health Care, North Newton.
She was born Jan. 6, 1908, at Halstead, the daughter of John and Susanna Roth Anstutz.
She was a lifelong member of First Mennonite Church, Halstead.
On Aug. 12, 1931, she married
Milton Berger. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a daughter, Marilyn Berger Musser, Newton; a sister, Frances Nelson, Oceanside, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Paul Wissing presiding. There will be no visitation.

Jed A. Willits
Jed Alan Willits, 22, died Oct. 20, 2004.
Survivors include: parents, David and Stephanie Willits, rural Whitewater; grandparents, Irvin and Marian Willits, Wichita, and grandmother, Audine Finch, Derby.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Potwin Christian Church, Potwin. Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.

Levina M. Flora
LITTLETON, Colo. - Levina Mae Flora, 79, died Oct. 19, 2004, at Colorado, after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 29, 1924, the daughter of Ora W. Flora and N. Pearl Krause. She worked for more than 40 years for Great American Life Insurance Co., Hutchinson. She had moved to Littleton 12 years ago to be near her niece, Becky Merian Moore.
Survivors include: a brother, George O. Flora, Eldon, Mo.; two sisters, Darlene Flora Merian, Littleton, and Mary Flora Dudley, Wichita; and eight nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Virginia E. Mehulka
McPHERSON - Virginia E. Mehulka, 90, died Oct. 20, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
She was born April 7, 1914, at Carroll Township, Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Anna Carlisle Hild. She graduated from Traier High School, Iowa. A McPherson resident since 2001, moving from Tucson, Ariz., she was employed as a technical writer at Hewlett Packard, Colorado Springs.
On March 3, 1933, she married
Emanuel Mehulka at Traer. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three daughters, Joy Mehulka, McPherson, Elizabeth Pearce, Littleton, Colo., and Gretchen Goswick, Reston, Va.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Private celebration of life will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

Eula L. Metz
GARDEN CITY - Eula L. Metz, 99, died Oct. 20, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village.
She was born Aug. 11, 1905, at Greenup, Ill., the daughter of Arch and Ethel Clark Henderson. A Garden City resident since 1923, moving from Cherokee, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Church of the Nazarene.
On Oct. 17, 1960, she married
Charles Metz at Garden City. He died March 10, 1963.
Survivors include: a daughter, Theresa Morgan, Garden City; a sister, Lucille Hallmark, Garden City; a caregiver, Robin Crain, Garden City; two nieces; and several great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Emmit Henderson, and a sister, Irene Adams.
Services have taken place.
