Earline Cassise
McPHERSON - Earline Cassise, 89, died Oct. 31, 2004, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.

She was born Dec. 8, 1914, at Monroe, Tenn., the daughter of Edward and Bertha Dell Robbins McDonald. She attended rural schools at Monroe. A resident of McPherson since 1991, formerly of Detroit, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to the Trash to Treasure organization and St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society, all at McPherson.

On Feb. 1, 1941, she married James Cassise. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters, Angela S. Nelson, McPherson, and Nancy Jane Hanlon, Las Vegas; a half brother, Wendell McDonald, Dayton, Ohio; two half sisters, Kathleen McDonald, Frasier, Mich., and Edwina Knott, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Olaf and Noffis McDonald; three half brothers, James, Quentin and Myers McDonald; and three half sisters, Imogene Delise, Mildred Flemming and Ruth Nilson.

Rosary will be at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, with Father Paul Oborny presiding. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, with Oborny celebrating. Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church or Trash to Treasure, both in care of the funeral home.

Susan C. Vasquez
DODGE CITY - Susan Carol Noah Vasquez, 48, died Oct. 30, 2004, at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

She was born Jan. 27, 1956, at Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Robert E. and Peggy J. Stahl Noah. A Dodge City resident for the past 20 years, moving from Omaha, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include: a son, David Wayne Brant, Grant City, Mo.; a daughter, Dena Michelle Noah, Garden City; four sisters, Margaret McCall, Theresa Noah, Shirley Carlson and Roberta Noah, all of Omaha; four grandsons; 11 nephews and nieces; and three great-nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nancy C. Scott.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dennis Zimmerman presiding. Burial will be in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery, Omaha, at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to a charitable organization of the donor's choice in care of the funeral chapel.

Twila L. McCurdy
HOISINGTON - Twila Louise McCurdy, 80, died Oct. 30, 2004, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

She was born April 1, 1924, in Gove County, the daughter of Albert Julius and Elsie Rader Ashworth Anderson. A 52-year resident of Hoisington, she was a retired registered nurse, working at Hoisington Lutheran Hospital and Homestead Villa Nursing Home, Hoisington.

She belonged to Trinity Baptist Church, Hoisington.

On Feb. 8, 1948, she married Orville C. McCurdy at Newkirk, Okla. He died Oct. 2, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Gary, Emporia; a stepson, Ronald McCurdy, Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Linda McCurdy, Emporia; two stepdaughters, Inez Major, Tulsa, Okla., and Louise Hancock, Portland, Texas; a brother, Merrill Anderson, Quinter; two grandchildren; and 14 stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dean Anderson; and three sisters, Beulah Molnar, Luetta Stucke and Merrillee Anderson.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hoisington Cemetery, with Mr. James Simons presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday, both at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.

Memorials may be sent to Clara Barton Foundation, Edward Kroesch Scholarship Fund or American Lung Association, all in care of the funeral home.

Ella Irene Day
Beautiful and gracious throughout her lifetime, death claimed the body and mind, but not the spirit of Ella Day on October 30, 2004.

Ellen Irene Rutkowski was born on March 25, 1915, on the Rutkowski farm near Murdock, which had been homesteaded by her grandfather, August Rutkowski. She was the youngest daughter of Frank and Gertrude Warnken Rutkowski.

She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior as a young teenager at a tent revival meeting at Murdock. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1933.

On Dec. 20, 1936, Ella married Roy E. "Buck" Day who preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1997. Roy and Ella farmed near Murdock for 35 years. After retiring and moving to Kingman, they opened Ella's Pastry Shop in 1971 and catered many wedding receptions in the community. The couple moved to Hutchinson in 1996.

She is survived by her children, Larry and Vicki Day, Hutchinson, Larry and Shirley Tatro, Hutchinson, and the Rev. Mervin and Loretta Goodrick, Lincoln, Neb. Ella had eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Eva Rodman, Cheney.

She was preceded in death by: four sisters, Blanche DeVorss, Mary Peacock, Francis Dibbens, Stella Beesley; and an infant brother.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ralph Nevius and the Rev. Steven Day presiding. Graveside service will follow in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Gideons, Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, or First Baptist Church, Kingman, in care of the mortuary.

Gladys A. Oeding
KINGMAN - Gladys A. Oeding, 78, died Oct. 15, 2004, at Kingman Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 16, 1926, at Willowdale, the daughter of George and Margaret Gorges Goetz. A resident of the Willowdale community most of her life, moving to Kingman in 1987, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society, both at Kingman.

On July 2, 1946, she married Joe Oeding at Willowdale. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dennis and wife Darlene, Willowdale; three grandchildren and their spouses, Dan and Martha Oeding, Darren and Laura Oeding and Dawn and Jared Glenn; and three great-grandchildren, Garret, Carter and Makayla Oeding.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and George Goetz, and sisters, Madeline Beat, Alma Koehler, Marcella Franssen, Delores Cox and infant sister, Dorothy Goetz.

Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman, with Father Joseph Tatro and Father John Miller, celebrants. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Willowdale.

Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick Grade School in care of Livingston Funeral Home, 1830 N. Main, Kingman, KS 67068.

Teresa C. Moran
McCRACKEN - Teresa C. Moran, 77, died Oct. 14, 2004, at Senior Village Nursing Facility, Atchison.

She was born Jan. 8, 1927, at Hays, the daughter of John Patrick and Marie Haughney Moran. She graduated from the former Mount St. Scholastica Academy and College, both at Atchison, where she received a degree in economics. A resident of McCracken since 1987, she operated J. P. Morgan Investment Co.

She was a former member of St. Mary's Church and Altar Society and former secretary of St. Mary's Heritage Association.

Survivors include nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ruth Flynn, Anna Catherine Moran and Rita Jane Moran.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home Chapel, Atchison, with family greeting friends following rosary until 8:30 p.m. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Monday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse. Family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McCracken. She will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.

Memorials may be sent to Maur Hill-Mount Academy in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison.

Edna M. Williams
Edna M. Williams, 89, died Oct. 16, 2004, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Feb. 28, 1915, at Sedan, the daughter of Charlie and Ethel Holbrook Fleming. A Hutchinson resident since 1991, moving from Andrews, Texas, also living at Ellinwood and Wichita, she owned Edna's Style Shop at Andrews.

She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and she was a Pink Lady at Andrews County Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital.

On Jan. 13, 1935, she married Francis E. Williams at Independence. He died Feb. 14, 1989.

Survivors include: eight nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Brown.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Towers Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Robert Brooks presiding. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to TECH or Boys and Girls Club, both in care of the mortuary.

Pegge Keberlein
HAYS - Pegge Keberlein, 62, died Oct. 15, 2004, at Russell Regional Hospital.

She was born July 11, 1942, at Hays, the daughter of Albert J. and Alexia Brungardt Dreiling. A lifetime resident of Hays, she was owner of Around the World and the former Taco House, both at Hays, and she worked as a medical assistant for a number of years.

She belonged to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays.

On Feb. 14, 1961, she married Darrell Keberlein at Hays. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Scott, Kansas City, Mo., and Kristian, Mission; a daughter, Melinda Wells, Russell; a brother, Timothy Dreiling, Hays; two sisters, Barbara Tierney, Denver, and Mitzi Desmarteau, Wichita; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Fitzgibbons.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Memorials may be sent to the church or Masses, both in care of the mortuary.
