DODGE CITY - Piedad Alvarado Arambula, 91, died Oct. 4, 2004, at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City.
She was born Feb. 19, 1913, at San Juan Del Rio Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Luciano and Maria Velez Alvarado.
She belonged to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.
Survivors include: two sons, Doroteo, Dodge City, and Frank Arambula, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; eight daughters, Maria Loya, Pacoima, Calif., Elisa Gonzales, El Mirase, Ariz., Hilda Placencia, Guadalajara, Lilia Rubalcava, Motebello, Calif., Irma Cervantez Arambula, Socorro Gomez, and Josefine Morales, all of Dodge City, and Coty Navarro, Walnut, Calif.; 59 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Manuel Arambula, and a daughter, Ester Soto.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with the Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.

Joseph Alvin Paramore
LITTLE RIVER - Joseph Alvin Paramore, 69, died Oct. 5, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 1, 1935, at Logan, the son of LaVern R. and Maude E. Rodenbaugh Paramore. He attended Hutchinson Junior College for a year. A Little River resident for eight years, formerly of McPherson, he was a truck driver for 30 years and worked for Keystone, McPherson.
He was a former member of the Eagles, McCook, Neb., and Friday Night Mixed Bowling Team. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the National Guard.
On Sept. 24, 1961, he married
Helen A. Smith at Goodland. She survives.
Other survivors include: six sons, Wayne, Plainville, Carlyle, Lindsborg, Raymond, Little River, Joseph Jr., Chipley, Fla., Clifford, Plainsville, and Robert Paramore, Halstead; two daughters, Kathy Williams, Arizona, and Teresa Meyer, McPherson; a brother, Willard Paramore, McPherson; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Ted Weis presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the funeral.

Helen Ines Stanton
JOHNSON - Helen Ines Stanton, 97, died Oct. 4, 2004, at Fort Collins, Colo.
She was born May 25, 1907, in a house north of Plains, the daughter of Carl and Minnie Hempel Singley. She moved to a farm just north of Manter, where she was a homemaker, moving to Fort Collins in 1978.
She belonged to Ladies Aid and Manter Methodist Church, both of Manter, First United Methodist Church, Johnson, and Presbyterian Church, Timnath, Colo.
On Aug. 12, 1925, she married
Lester Stanton at Wichita. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three sons, including, Elliott Myron, and Lyndell Gene, both of Johnson; a daughter; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Johnson, with the Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson. Burial will be in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson.

Ruth Joan Miller
PLAINS - Ruth Joan Miller, 82, died Oct. 3, 2004, at her daughter's home, Norman, Okla.
She was born Oct. 9, 1921, the daughter of Samuel P. and Mary S. Specht Currier. A lifetime Plains area resident, she established the first Girl Scout troop at Plains and was active as a leader and adviser for many years.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Extension Homemakers Unit, all at Plains. She also was a Boy Scout leader in the Plains community.
On Nov. 19, 1938, she married
Hugh J. Miller at Hugoton. He died Feb. 22, 1987.
Survivors include: a son, Jack M. Miller, Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Barbara Ledgerwood, Norman, and Blenda Dreitz, Plains; two sisters, Clarice McCarty, Meade, and Jeanne Marx, Plains; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Currier; and three sisters, Vaneita Magill, Esther Hayes and Eleanor Lehn.
Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Plains, with the Rev. Terry Mayhew presiding. Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, all at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery.

Vada Burch
WICHITA - Vada Burch, 78, died Oct. 3, 2004.
She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Kingman, the daughter of Henry and Edna Snyder Clark. She was a 1943 graduate of Kingman High School.
She belonged to Linwood Nazarene Church.
On May 21, 1946, she married
Lawrence Burch at Kingman. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, including Kevin, Newton; a daughter; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Old Mission Cemetery, Wichita.

Mildred Ruth Schmidt
WAVERLY - Mildred Ruth Schmidt, 75, died Sept. 28, 2004, at University of Kansas Medical Center.
She was born March 19, 1929, near Iuka, the daughter of Henry I. and Berth E. Roesch Jarboe. She attended Hesston College and LaJunta Mennonite School Nursing in Colorado, where she received her RN degree. She worked in the hospital in Harrisonville, Mo., and several doctors' clinics in Grandview, Mo., and for the Coffey County Health Office, Burlington.
On May 15, 1955, she married
Esley E. Schmidt, at Grandview, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons; a daughter; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service was Friday at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon.
Sidney Unruh
MOUNDRIDGE - Sidney Unruh, 89, died Oct. 4, 2004, at his home, Moundridge.
He was born Nov. 8, 1914, in McPherson County, the son of Dan and Eva Jantz Unruh. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and carpenter.
He belonged to Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Galva.
On Dec. 1, 1935, he married
Erma Koehn at Galva. She survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Joyce Johnson, Inman, Carolyn Becker, Kirksey, Ky., Arlene Ratzlaff, McPherson, and Bonnie Koehn, Aberdeen, Miss.; a brother, Curtis Unruh, Galva; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Orlie and Brinton Unruh; and two sisters, Nancy Becker and Jennie Unruh.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Galva, with Ministers Roger Unruh and Herman Nightingale presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lone Tree Church Cemetery, rural Galva.

Cecil A. Roberts
Cecil A. Roberts, 92, died Oct. 4, 2004, at Throne Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 20, 1912, at Beaver, Okla., the son of Eldon and Emma Hommon Roberts. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a city of Hutchinson employee at Carey Park Golf Course. He later was employed by the former Countryside Golf Course and retired as the co-owner of the former Charlie's Chow Restaurant.
He belonged to First Christian Church.
On June 26, 1940, he married
Joyce Mae Eisiminger at Dodge City. She died May 27, 1988.
Survivors include: a son, John Roberts, Ellinwood; a daughter, Cheryl Griffin, Hutchinson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Carey presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
