Pete D Holzrichter
BURRTON - Pete D Holzrichter, 93, died Oct. 5, 2004, at Burrton.
He was born Feb. 1, 1911, at Burrton, the son of Peter F. and Mary Anna Dick Holzrichter. He was a lifelong resident of Burrton, was a road maintenance worker for the Kansas Department of Transportation and was a farmer.
He belonged to First Christian Church, Burrton, where he served as deacon.
On Jan. 1, 1941, he married
Thelma Jean Sabin at Burrton. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Nelle Lay, Burrton; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Abe and Henry, a sister, Katherine Churchman, and two infant sisters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at First Christian Church, Burrton, with the Rev. Sherman Sack presiding. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Burrton Cemetery.

Helen M. Daw
Helen Mae Butler Daw, 94, died Nov. 16, 2004, at Ralph Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 15, 1910, at Selden, the daughter of Harry M. and Sophia May Jackson Butler. A Hutchinson resident since 1936, she retired as a schoolteacher at Farris Elementary.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Polyphonic Music Club, Hutchinson Retired Teachers Association, and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
On June 29, 1936, she married
Robert E. Daw at Hays. He died Dec. 31, 1973.
Survivors include: a daughter-in-law, Beverly Daw, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert H. Daw.
Graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.

Ruth Deckert
INMAN - Ruth Deckert, 91, died Nov. 15, 2004, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born April 20, 1913, in McPherson County, the daughter of Henry J. and Catherine Schroeder Klassen. She attended high school at Goessel and attended Bethel College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school in McPherson County for four years. She was a homemaker and also ran her own massage business. She and her husband owned and managed apartments at Newton.
She belonged to First Mennonite Church, Newton, Heart and Home Club, Gideon's International and the Good News Club.
On Aug. 3, 1941, she married
Harvey Deckert at Halstead. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dwight and Donald Deckert, both of Wichita; a daughter, Donna Ruth Holiday, Wheaton, Md.; two sisters, Martha Epp, Inman, and Anna Klassen, Newton; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Arthur and Menno Klassen, and two sisters, Linda Androes and Olga Androes.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church, Newton, with Pastor Clarence Rempel presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Bill G. Good
MONTEZUMA - Bill Gene Good, 72, died unexpectedly Nov. 15, 2004, at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born May 6, 1932, at Cimarron, the son of Earl and Juanita Henderson Good. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and rancher.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Montezuma, Montezuma Credit Union Board and Co-op Board. He was a Gray County commissioner since March 2001.
On Aug. 3, 1952, he married
Margaret McCune at Montezuma. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Steve, Montezuma, and Todd, Shawnee; his mother, Cimarron; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Gene Eshleman presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Montezuma Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cimarron Cemetery.

Christopher Meadows
ELLINWOOD - Christopher Harmon "Red" Meadows, 91, died Nov. 16, 2004, at Ellinwood District Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1913, at Hamilton, the son of Robert and Cora Meadows.
An Ellinwood resident since 1945, formerly of Neal and Hamilton, he was a truck driver for Lewis Drilling, Branson Truck Service and Cowboy's Oilfield Service.
On May 5, 1937, he married
Clara Louise Sanders at Eureka. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Carol Smith, Sally Bayer, both of Ellinwood, and Imogene Werner, Chicago; two brothers, Albert, Climax, and Irvin, Camarillo, Calif.; a sister, Inez Aaroe, Phoenix; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.

Gordon C. Shaefer
GARDEN CITY - Gordon C. Shaefer, 86, died Nov. 15, 2004, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
He was born Dec. 6, 1917, at Adair, Iowa, the son of Herman and Julia Martin Shaefer. He graduated from high school at Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Drake University, Des Moines. Moving to Garden City in 1948, he was a self-employed photographer. He took many wedding and baby pictures. He also invented the Gordon Electric Retoucher, which he manufactured in his home. When television stations started in the country, he built transmitters for them. He then managed the hardwood department for the Sears store at Garden City. After a short move to Galveston, Texas, he returned to Garden City and was the longtime TV service manager for Collins Furniture.
He belonged to St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, Elks Lodge and Harry H. Renick American Legion Post No. 9. He was a pilot and designed gun cameras for the Army during World War II.
On June 5, 1944, he married
Helen Whitman at New Orleans. She survives.
He also is survived by a son, Craig Shaefer, Rapid City, S.D., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Father Joseph Bahr presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Evelyn F. Rice
GREAT BEND - Evelyn Florence Rice, 83, died Nov. 12, 2004, at Fairacres Manor, Greeley, Colo.
She was born Sept. 9, 1921, at Concordia, Mo., the daughter of Fred J. and Lena Lohman Bruns. A Great Bend resident since 1938, she was a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward.
She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
On July 20, 1946, she married
Robert Lee Rice at Great Bend. He died Jan. 7, 2004.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Lee Voss, Williams Bay, Wis., and Kay Thompson, Eaton, Colo.; a sister, La Vera Odegarde, Great Bend; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Verlin Bruns.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. James A. Strassen presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Francis X. Zink
GREAT BEND - Francis X. Zink, 82, died Nov. 16, 2004, at his home, Great Bend.
He was born March 24, 1922, at Phillips County, the son of Edward and LaVergne Watkins Zink. A Great Bend resident since 1953, moving from Plainville, he was a consultant and owner of Zink Drilling Co.
He belonged to Elks Lodge and American Legion, both at Great Bend.
On Nov. 1, 1969, he married
Marie Claycamp Kroeger at WaKeeney. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: a daughter-in-law; a brother, Edward John, Phillipsburg; a sister, Kathleen Harlowe, Salina; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ron.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Deanna Fluck presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will at 2 p.m. Saturday at WaKeeney City Cemetery.
