Charles L. Burditt II
COTTONWOOD FALLS - Charles Layne Burditt II, 43, died Nov. 13, 2004, at Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center, Topeka.

Survivors include: his mother, Irene Fisher, Hutchinson; stepfather, Gerald Dean Fisher, Sr., Hutchinson; stepmother, Gloria Burditt, Hutchinson; a brother, Shawn Burditt, Hutchinson; two sisters, Rose Burditt and Christy Bishop, both of Hutchinson; a stepsister, Tammy Faulkner, Hutchinson; a sister, Loretta Spielman, Newton; and two stepsisters, Dee-Dee Fisher, McPherson, and Roberta Fisher, Sterling.

Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mishelle R. Myers
DODGE CITY - Mishelle Renae Myers was stillborn Nov. 15, 2004, at Women's Health Care Center, Dodge City.

Survivors include: her father, Ricky Myers, Dodge City; mother, Donna Parsons, Dodge City; grandparents, Ken and Lee Parsons, Dodge City; grandmother, Virginia Garcia, Dodge City; great-grandmother, Ruth Comer, Minford, Ohio; and great-grandfathers, Carl Parsons, Minford, and Francis Myers, Ulysses.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Virgil A. Unruh
LARNED - Virgil A. Unruh, 94, died Nov. 13, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas.

He was born Oct. 7, 1910, at Great Bend, the son of Benjamin C. and Susie Unruh. During his career in Kansas, he had been with the county farm Extension office, a farmer and dairyman and Pawnee County agent for Kansas Farm Bureau.

On Nov. 7, 1941, he married Ruth H. Polson. She died July 3, 1959. He then married Beda Davis in 1963. She survives.

He is also survived by a son and four grandchildren.

Cremation has been arranged. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Jerusalem Church, Pawnee Rock, with Vivian Bright presiding. Private inurnment will be Friday in Pawnee Rock Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

Ella Irene Day
Beautiful and gracious throughout her lifetime, death claimed the body and mind, but not the spirit of Ella Day on October 30, 2004.

Ella Irene Rutkowski was born on March 25, 1915, on the Rutkowski farm near Murdock, which had been homesteaded by her grandfather, August Rutkowski. She was the youngest daughter of Frank and Gertrude Warnken Rutkowski.

She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior as a young teenager at a tent revival meeting at Murdock. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1933.

On Dec. 20, 1936, Ella married Roy E. "Buck" Day, who preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1997. Roy and Ella farmed near Murdock for 35 years. After retiring and moving to Kingman, they opened Ella's Pastry Shop in 1971 and catered many wedding receptions in the community. The couple moved to Hutchinson in 1996.

She is survived by her children, Larry and Vicki Day, Hutchinson, Larry and Shirley Tatro, Hutchinson, and the Rev. Mervin and Loretta Goodrick, Lincoln, Neb. Ella had eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Eva Rodman, Cheney.

She was preceded in death by: four sisters, Blanche DeVorss, Mary Peacock, Francis Dibbens and Stella Beesley; and an infant brother.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ralph Nevius and the Rev. Steven Day presiding. Graveside service will follow in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Gideons, Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, or First Baptist Church, Kingman, in care of the mortuary.

Lavaughn Cornelius
ZENDA - Lavaughn Cornelius, 94, died Nov. 1, 2004, at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.

She was born May 31, 1910, in rural Zenda, the daughter of Frank and Kate Osborn Swingle. A lifetime Zenda resident, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Zenda United Methodist Church and UMW.

On Oct. 2, 1928, she married Ray Cornelius. He died April 17, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Roland, Garden City; a daughter, Virginia Brown, Kingman; a sister, Billie Proctor, Blackwell, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; two brothers, Ira and Alden Swingle; a sister, Imogene Madison; and a grandson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with Chaplain Tal Tittsworth presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Zenda.

Memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice or Zenda EMS, both in care of the funeral home.

Shiloh Brawner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Shiloh Coleen Brawner, died Oct. 31, 2004, at Centennial Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.

She was born Oct. 29, 2004, at Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of Bill and Jessica Vernon Brawner, they survive of the home.

Other survivors include: a brother, Sage, of the home, grandparents, Bontrager, and William Brawner Sr., all of Hutchinson, and Marc Vernon, Central City, Ky.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Father's House Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Quentin Moore presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital, N.I.C.U., in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, which is in charge of arrangements.

Theresa Robben
WALKER - Theresa Robben, 70, died Oct. 31, 2004, at Topeka.

She was born Oct. 24, 1934, at Vincent, the daughter of Joseph and Mary A. Baier Rajewski. She and her husband owned and operated Robben Insurance and Accounting, Victoria, from 1956 to 1991.

She belonged to St. Ann's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers, both at Walker, Victoria Daughters of Isabella, and was past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

On Aug. 22, 1953, she married Norbert F. Robben at Vincent. He survives.

Other survivors include: five sons, Michael, James and Joseph, all of Victoria, Daniel, Hays, and John Robben, Meriden; two daughters, Marijo Isbell, Suwanee, Ga., and Karlin, Catherine; two brothers, Gilbert Rajewski, New Iberia, La., and James Rajewski, Vincent; three sisters, Doris Wellbrock, New Iberia, Mary Catherine Nowak, Edmond, Okla., and Rita Gibson, Longmont, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by rosaries for St. Ann's Christian Mothers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and Daughters of Isabella, all at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Walker.

Memorials may be sent to Midland Hospice, Topeka, or Masses, both in care of the mortuary.

Henry H. Doerksen
SATANTA - Henry H. Doerksen, 90, died Oct. 31, 2004, at his home, rural Satanta.

He was born July 8, 1914, at Steinbach Manitoba, Canada, the son of Bernhard and Helena Plett Doerksen. In 1916, he moved to Haskell County. He was a farmer.

On Nov. 21, 1948, he married Nettie Barkman at Steinbach Manitoba. She survives.

He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, with Minister Lloyd Bowen presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Burial will be in Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.

Memorials may be sent to Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, or to a charity of the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.

Francis M. Cook
Francis M. "Peggy" Cook, 66, died Oct. 31, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka.

She was born Nov. 23, 1937, at Red Wine, Texas, the daughter of Herbert and Kathleen Russom Halsell. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a secretary, treasurer and office manager for Cook Manufacturing.

She belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Aerie No. 2550 Auxiliary, Women's Fast Pitch Softball, Hutchinson Women's Bowling Association, and was a longtime Cub Scout Den Mother at Hutchinson.

On Dec. 9, 1960, she married Clinton E. "Cookie" Cook at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 12, 1999.

Survivors include: two sons, Herbert, Hutchinson, and Tommy, Bartow, Fla.; a daughter, Kathleen Resnik, Topeka; her mother, Dalhart, Texas; two sisters, Clara Goldsmith, Dalhart, and Lucille Selman, Amarillo, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Jason Rose, Paige Cook, Austin Cook, Susan Cook, Kyle Resnik, Noah Cook and Cole Resnik.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Harlon "Buddy" Halsell.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.

Von Kaup
LIBERAL - Von Kaup, 84, died Oct. 31, 2004, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1920, at Sharon, the son of James and Flossie Swafford Kaup. A Liberal resident since 1947, he was a mechanic for International Harvester and later Mehl Concrete. He operated the Fina, Skelly and Conoco service stations for several years and worked for Balyntine Auto. He was also a bus mechanic for USD 480 for 12 years, retiring in 1994.

He belonged to First Church of the Nazarene, was a Sunday School teacher for the Junior boys class and had received the Teacher of the Year award. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II in India, and he also served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 10 years.

On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Betty L. Martin at Medicine Lodge. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Ron, Bill and Tom Kaup, all of Liberal; two brothers, Hershel and Roy Kaup, both of Wichita; two sisters, Dorothy Lane, Augusta, and Darlene Hawkins, Harper; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons; an infant daughter; a brother, and a sister.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Amos Williams presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.; and 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, all at Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to the church or American Diabetes Foundation, both in care of the mortuary.
